From the owner

Bertie Cottage can comfortably sleep six people. The cottage is surprisingly spacious and is tastefully decorated to a high standard, with modern furnishings with hints of tartan and Harris Tweed.

There are two good-sized upstairs bedrooms, one king-size and one double, each with a lovely view to Craig Choillich Hill to the south of Ballater. The upstairs bedrooms share a large family bathroom with corner bath and separate shower. Downstairs there is a large twin-bedded room which has it's own en-suite shower room. Each bedroom has a wardrobe and plenty of storage space. There is a hairdryer and all linen and towels are provided.

​Downstairs there is a cosy lounge with two sofas, a " favourite armchair" and a large footstool with plenty of cushions for your comfort. The woodburning stove is perfect to nestle up to after a day outdoors. There is a smart TV, DVD player with a selection of DVDs, Blaupunkt bluetooth speaker and games and puzzles for all ages.

From the lounge you enter a bright, well equipped kitchen with views to the garden and Craigendarroch Hill beyond. There is a fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. The separate dining room is the perfect room to sit and enjoy a leisurely breakfast with the view of Craigendarroch Hill or to relax with your evening meal and plan the next days activities.

​The dining room opens out onto a large enclosed deck with a seating area and separate BBQ area, perfect for outdoor dining. Behind the decking there is grass with a washing line and further planting. The garden is a fabulous suntrap, the sun can be enjoyed from early morning until the last rays in the evening. There is access to a large lockable shed - perfect for storing bikes or golf clubs.

Why can't I call Catriona (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Catriona (the owner) a message.

If Catriona (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
