Location description from owner

The Scotland region

Tanar View is tucked away in a quiet and secluded part of the beautiful Glen Tanar estate within the Cairngorms National Park. A rural idyll the region is perfect for those that love the outdoors - walking, fishing, bird watching, cycling, horse riding, mountaineering, ski-ing - it is all on your doorstep. The area is a haven for wildlife - roe and red deer are in abundance and in Autumn, you can enjoy the eerie sound of the stags calling in the hills as the red rut is in full swing. Osprey and golden eagles can be spotted in the skies as well as Capercaillie (if you are very lucky).

Glen Tanar estate offers 25,000 acres of some of the most stunning scenery in Scotland to explore including pine forests, rivers, heather clad moors and the hills of Mount Keen.
While located in a rural idyll, Tanar View is only five minutes drive from the nearest town of Aboyne where there is a good pub plus various shops and eating places. Ballater is only fifteen minutes drive and is a gorgeous little town and the gateway to Balmoral.

There is always loads to do locally - traditional Scottish fiddle music at the local pub, ceilidhs, art exhibitions and festivals. Just ask.

Aboyne

Royal Deeside is one of the most special parts of Aberdeenshire, little wonder that it has been adopted by the Royal family and that they love it so much.
The area is home to beautiful scenery - rivers, mountains and moorland. Limitless walking is open to all as Scotland's Right to Roam act allows this stunning area to be accessible to all. The river Dee winds its way through the countryside and the area is famous for its salmon and trout fishing in some of the most alluring spots in the world.

There are many interesting towns that make up Royal Deeside from Braemar which is the closest point to Balmoral to smaller places like Torphins and Tarland - each of which boast their own unique history and offer individual shops and eating places.

“Lovely accommodation and very thoughtful owners”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2015

The accommodation has lovely views onto the countryside and a log burning stove which wasn't needed being July. The owners were very thoughtful and had added personal touches for our stay included a strawberry cake.

So glad you enjoyed your stay and also the strawberry cake! Come back soon and enjoy the log burning stove!
