“Cosy base for exploring a beautiful part of the country” Rock Cottage is a delightful and character filled cottage nestled in the Yorkshire Dales. Upstairs the bedroom has wonderful views across the valley and there's an excellent shower in the bathroom. Downstairs the living room is comfortable and snug in front of the fire, the kitchen has everything (and more) that you'd need and there's a second bedroom with dining space.
With the cottage being in Oxenhope it's perfect if you want to enjoy the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway and offers an excellent jumping off point into Brontë country as well as the rest of West Yorkshire.
It's great if you want to take a baby - we stayed with our 8 month old son and he enjoyed 'playing' with the model train set and enjoying the space to crawl about. The only wrinkle was with the travel cot as it wasn't the most comfortable for him; we have suggested to John that he might want to replace it but every baby sleeps differently so it could be fine for you.
Looking forward to having a reason to stay here again!
“Friendly hosts, excellent views, relaxing stay!” We stumbled across Stones Cottage Farm by accident when looking for a very last minute break. After reading it was a chicken farm we were initially a little apprehensive about noise and smells, but we needn't have worried! Despite the chickens and being alongside the main Hebden Bridge to Oxenhope Road the property was very tranquil with beautiful views front and rear. If anything, I felt the property description overplayed the noise.
Andrew and his family who own the property and live in the farm house next door were very accommodating whilst not intrusive, providing fresh eggs from the farm, logs for the fire, wifi, dvd's and offering various activities on the farm for children and adults alike. With a 3 month old baby we weren't able to make the most of what was on offer but I'm sure slightly older children would have loved the chicks and geese.
The cottage had been recently refurbished, very clean and very well equipped, with a comfy living/dining area and good size beds. The bathroom was the only slight disappointment but was clean and functional, if not quite up to 5 star standard.
Plenty to do in the area to fill a four day stay. Would definitely recommend.
