we arrived early and a quick phone call to the owner gave us an in time so a day out driving around sight seeing , at 4 we arrived at the house and were greeted by the owners, a quick tour and phone numbers exchanged if we needed anything, i found the owners to be very helpful with ideas on where to go , local shops and walks ect
the garden is a private home and is so much better that the usual clinical type holiday homes, this one did feel like home , rooms are big so ideal for large family's or those wanting room.kitchen is wonderful ,loads of room and everything you might need ( couldn`t find the knife sharpener lol),living room is comfortable and huge and if you like your big screens there is a huge drop down screen ( our kids watched one film ), up stairs are 2 large rooms one smaller double and a wonderful kids room with 2 single begs in , my kids loved this drop floor room and want me to redo our house to include a room like this.Father in law had the downstairs bedroom with en suit as he is not so good on stairs, this he loved as it was easy for him to enjoy his holiday, the make up of the house is dominated by huge granite blocks and these kept the house at just the right temp, during the spring and autumn i would think the house might be a little cold but it would not be a problem as there in the massive fireplace is a modern wood burner and a supply of logs ( we didnt use the fire) also the house has a state of the art wood pellet boiler and so there is hot water by the bath-full on tap and within 5 mins of turning the heating on the house is warm and toasty, the house also has a solar system to help be more green and efficient.
Outside is the garden , huge with local wildlife coming into the garden in the mornings, a large fishpond with many fish ( mind if you have young children) my two loved having the responsibility of feeding the fish.
In the distance you can see the tor from the garden and most of the windows , IT IS A MUST to take the lane past the house and follow the foot path to the tor , around 2 miles i would guess with a climb at the end ( i think you can drive to the foot of the tor) the views are worth ever step.
sorry for the long review but you might guess i and my family loved the place and would highly recommend it to any one . …
