“Seaside escape” Beautifully appointed bright and airy apartment with fabulous seaviews. It is a stone's throw from the beach and conveniently located for restaurants, shops etc. Weather great whilst we stayed and I enjoyed several early morning dips. We dined in most nights nights as it was the best vista over any restaurant. There is allocated parking but we have learned over the years one is not necessary if relatively active and we let the train take the strain - Cromer railway station being 20 minutes on foot. Coast Hopper bus is excellent for visiting Wells-next-the-sea etc. Sanders bus company for other journeys. Beautiful coastal and beach walks to Overstrand/Mundesley and in the other direction Sheringham and beyond. Country trail to Felbrigg Hall. Reward yourself with a cream tea at the end.
“A Proper Seaside Holiday” We stayed at flat 2 Gordon House earlier in the month. The proprietor, Emma, could not have been more helpful and ensured our stay was perfect. Gordon House was perfectly clean and had all the amenities you'd hope for in a holiday let. It is spacious and comfortable. Young children are very well catered for with toys and books. Horton Hears a Who was also on repeat!
The flat is very central and also right across the road from the meadow (park, skate park and pitch and putt contained within) which was perfect for our little girl. We also made much of the beach which is about a five minute stroll away.
The Lifeboat Cafe serves a lovely breakfast and is a great way to begin the day. The whole meal tea cakes are delicious.
Maryjanes fish and chips are
Fantastic- better than no1 Cromer. The Skate is pretty special.
The best crab shop in my opinion is just down the road from No1 and up from the Wellington. I can't remember the name because I was blinded by the crab!
Bewilder wood is a great day out for everyone. A little drive but worth it. Warning!! Your inner child will be unleashed!
Upstairs Downstairs is a brilliant gift and card shop. Next time we are here (and we will stay in flat 2 Gordon House) I will be buying the years worth of cards for folks - such a collection.
Other than this we spent the majority of our time in the meadow or on the beach. Very good times and really happy vibes. Enjoy!
“Great accomodation with wow factor in lovely location - ideal for family get together” Just returned from a family get together at the Granary to celebrate our parents golden wedding anniversary and have to say what a great choice the Granary was. The booking and payment process was seamless and smooth and the landlord provided plenty of information beforehand (as well as being very flexible in turns of early check-in and late check-out). On arrival - in addition to the wow factor from just walking into and looking around the accomodation - there was a card and bottle of Cava for my parents which was a really lovely touch. The accomodation over three floors was more than big enough for the twelve of us (8 adults & 4 children) and never felt cramped even when we were all downstairs. The games room with snooker/pool table and dart board was a particular hit. The location was great - quiet pretty village, just a very short drive into Cromer, and not much further into Sheringham. Would be great for exploring north Norfolk if only we'd been able to fit in a longer stay.
“Wonderful” What a wonderful place to stay. So clean, comfortable, warm and beautifully furnished. I was very pleasantly surprised to have found such a lovely place to stay and because the weather was rather cold and blustery, it was actually a pleasure to stay in! I would definitely stay here again. Stephanie and Paul the owners, made sure that everything was in place for our stay and that we were comfortable. Thank you Stephanie and Paul. The apartment was convenient for the shops and a short walk to the beach. All in all a very pleasing holiday.
“Lovely friendly place to stay” Very nice and well equipped barn conversion. Very clean and practical. The small woods at the back was handy for walking the dogs. Close to some lovely places to visit. Recommend wells next the sea for crabbing for the kids and it also has some lovely dog friendly pubs. We left some take away menus in the drawers in the dining room as we got two take aways and as we couldn't find any menus we thought they would come in handy. The owners are very friendly and helpful with tips on places to go. There is a laundry room and lots of washing lines which came in handy after surfing in Cromer.
A very relaxing holiday. Would recommend highly
“Lovely house in ideal location” A family friendly house with everything you would need for a great holiday. The location is perfect it is within walking distance of the town, the beach and places to eat out. The railway station and a large supermarket are a five minute walk away. We all had a lovely time and the grandchildren loved the nearby park.
“Writers Cottage Cromer” Where do I start, what a fantastic surprise we had when we unlocked and entered this immaculate property which does the owner proud. The quality oused in every room, the nice touches provided us with an excellent stay, we will most certainly be booking this property again in the summer.
Eleven out of ten is no exaggeration!
“Amazing tranquil location” Found Forty Winks on Trip Advisor, Never been to Norfolk but know it's a beautiful place. Forty winks had only a few reviews as it's only been open a few months, but we took the risk anyway as it looked stunning, we booked 3 nights.
We arrived on the 13th Aug 2015 at around 5pm, on arrival we were greeted by Sally and her Husband Chris who were quick to show us around and show us how everything worked. The lodge itself was a little gem, totally separate from the main house where Sally and Chris live, this made it feel private and it felt like out own little home away from home.
The lodge had everything we needed, it was very clean and cosy and even included a continental breakfast including a choice on the bread and milk ' great as me and my wife only use Semi Skimmed milk. Little things like this make a huge difference, the hospitality of Sally and Chris was simply amazing. They are always at hand to help with anything, both have great knowledge of the area and are the best people to ask for places to visit, if it wasn't for Chris we wouldn't of seen the Seals at Horsey ' A truly amazing experience for me and my wife.
Each day they would recommend places for us to visit and we were never let down by the experience, Great Yarmouth was stunning and took no more than an hour and that's with stopping off for a coffee. Cromer was only around the corner and that too was stunning, we certainly wasn't short of things to do and places to see ' infact we wish we booked 7 days.
Forty Winks is deep in the Norfolk country side, so if you like being out in the wilderness then you will love this place. You could hear a pin drop at night its was that quiet ' and at night it was totally pitch black. We live in the city and are always surrounded by an orange glow, so this made the late nights very tranquil.
I could go on and on about how amazing this place is, but you will have to experience it to truly understand. We are certainly booking Forty Winks again, Sally and Chris are amazing friendly people and soon became good friends.
Can't wait until next time so Thank you Forty Winks
“Ticks all those boxes, a home from home with fantastic extras & the kids loved it!” The only place we will stay in Cromer when we return. Great location, just steps to the beach and town. Parking outside, and after exploring the area you come back to a home with all the comforts you need. the children's den with the games and xbox kept the kids busy while we relaxed (I loved the 3d TV) It's clean, it comfy, and great value. You go to Cromer to explore the area but it makes such a difference when you have a base that feels like home.

Dream Holiday for Every Age!!
We have just returned from The Granary after a fabulous family holiday with ages ranging from 15 months to 75 years and everyone of us enjoyed it. The house is perfectly furnished and very spacious. Good kitchen and living area for the adults and a superb games room for the kids as well as endless places to play hide and seek! The house, including comfortable beds, is very well equipped and maintained. Combine all of that with a very friendly village pub serving excellent food and you have a great combination: pub is both child and dog friendly. We only scratched the surface of things to do in the area, so will need to go back, but particularly recommended are Rock Pool Ruumaging and Fossil Hunting on West Runton beach, Overstrand beach itself and Fellbrigg Hall nearby, one of the most underrated National Trust properties. The Granary is ideal for a combination of families or, like us, a rare chance to get everyone together from around the country. We shall certainly return!! …
