Buzzards Bough
Outstanding views and very peaceful

We arrived at Newbarn farm and were greeted by Yvonne. She gave us valuable information on where was nice to eat and where we were able to take our elderly dog. We chose Newbarn farm because they accept (well behaved) dogs and the farm is set in its own very large grounds in the country. This was a very big plus point for us because although we had our own private little garden, we could also go out of our gate and for walks with our dog around the pools and the lovely trail through fields and woodland. As other reviewers have said the place is stunningly beautiful. It is in an elevated position which makes the views even more spectacular and we watched hawks, buzzards and other wild birds over the fields surrounding us. The herd of black cows were super to watch too and we had a really beautiful sunset one night. The only thing that we thought could be a problem was that the accommodation we were in called Buzzards Bough was quite a long way from the car park and there were lots of steps to climb, so probably not so amenable for people with disabilities. Saying that there were other cottages situated right next to the car park which would have been fine for people with disabilities. Buzzards Bough is also part of the main house so we could hear people walking around occasionally which didn't bother us, we were just grateful to have privacy and our own garden for the dog. From what I understand only certain properties at Newbarn farm accommodate dogs, Buzzard Bough being one of them, and it seems that it has been well thought through. Newbarn farm is situated in a prime postion because it is so close to local towns and villages, Totnes, Paignton, Torquay, Babbacombe, Dartmouth to name a few, which made accessibility so easy, yet it is just far enough away for absolute peace. We visited Cockington and could hear a piano playing as we walked away from the car park. On investigation we found a pianist in the garden of a lovely old house and tea room, so we stopped, had some tea and listened to the wonderful music. What a treat and well worth a visit. All in all we had a great time and hope to return.see more
