The Yarmouth, Isle of Wight area
Yarmouth is located on the western side of the Island at the mouth of the Yar estuary. The historic little town has grown as a result of its natural harbour, guarded by Yarmouth Castle, built by Henry VIII in 1547 The harbour attracts international yachts and motor cruisers, whose crews take advantage of the moorings to enjoy the lively range of shops, and places to eat and drink in the town. Wightlink Ferries dock here from Lymington, after a crossing of just under half an hour.
The picturesque narrow streets and town square are lined by flower decked shops and pubs; restaurants range from Michelin star quality through family-friendly pubs to cafes with outside tables for celebrating fine weather late into the evening, many meals having an emphasis on local produce and freshly caught fish.

Rented Orchard Lee and Tudor Lee for my sister's hen party, and really could not have asked for more. There was ample space for 10 in Orchard Lee and 4 in Tudor Lee. Both of them were very clean and tidy. One thing to mention was that as it was raining it was slightly muddy on the paths leading from Orchard to Tudor Lee. The set up of Orchard Lee is fantastic for large groups with four separate bedrooms and one long room running the length of the cottage. We separated the areas into a dining room, a kitchen and a lounge with ease and it suited our purpose perfectly. Tudor Lee is very cute and homely. It has a real old cottage feel, but with nice modern facilities (great shower and kitchen). Jill and Steve genuinely could not have done more to have been hospitable and welcoming. They truly went above and beyond to ensure that everything ran smoothly. All 14 said that we wanted to go back with friends/families. |
