About the home

The church was converted into residential dwellings in 1994 and consists of three houses - the Tower, the Nave and the Chancel. The Chancel still retains the large East window just beyond the alter area, which is now one of the many features adorning this unique house.

Much of the original stained glass has been retained in all the windows, especially the magnificent East window, which overlooks the Purbeck Hills.

The West Country / Dorset region

Dorset is known as the British Riviera with its miles of protected beaches it is a favourite for both relaxation and walking.

Its countryside is just as spectacular with its villages bursting with rural charm.

The Wareham area

The County town of Dorchester is a mere twenty minute drive away, and is worth a visit, especially on Wedneday's which is market day. You may even find you have purchased a cow or sheep from the market - if you're not careful!

The Purbeck region of Dorset. Trips to Corfe Castle, Swanage, the famous Studland beach, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are all very close by. Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum are even closer.

If travelling form London by car take the following route M25, M3, M27 then the A31. This gets you to Bere Regis. From there go to Wool, then head to Wareham. The church is on the right mid-way between the two. From Croydon it is about 2 hours 20 minutes.

From the Midlands or the North pick up the A34 and head south to to the M3 and then as above. Else turn west on to the A303. This takes you past Stonehenge. Turn south at Warminster which takes you to Dorchester and then follow signs to Wareham. Then as above.

“Fantastic cottage - homely, clean and well equipped.” Great holiday let. The property has great character and is very well furnished. It is very clean and extremely well equipped. Wonderful location with Corfe Castle, Swanage, Monkey World, Knoll Beach, etc, all 20 minutes away or less. Highly recommended.

“A charming yet 'spooky' corner of Dorset” 'The Chancel' is a conversion of a church which went out of service in the 1980's. You immediately get a sense of what awaits you inside when parking your car ... right next to a beautifuly maintained graveyard! The childrens' imaginations begin working immediately and their excitement is infectious. The interior doesn't disappoint, being very clean, well organised and homely, with original features such as stained glass and inscriptions being retained. There are two other properties in use - 'the Nave' and 'the Tower' - all part of the same building. The location is excellent for the beaches at Studland and Swanage, and medieval Corfe Castle is an easy drive away. There's lots of space for children and it's a great base for exploring Dorset. And you can explore the graveyard after dark...if you dare!
