About this location
The Somerset region
Somerset is one of those forgotten counties where people whizz by on the way to Cornwall. What they are missing is a beautiful area full of lovely scenary, splendid walks, many historical places, fabulous days out, gorgeous beaches, and quaint little villages. Places of interest include: Lyme Regis and Minehead beaches. Towns such as Glastonbury, Wells, Bristol and Bath. Days out such as Wookey Hole, Cheddar Caves, Clarkes Shopping Village, the Castle at Dunster, Yeovilton Fleet Air Musuem. Heastercombe Gardens, Cricket St. Thomas Wildlife Park. Bristol Zoo and Science Museum. The Quantock Hills for walkers, and the Somerset Levels with its abundance of amazing wildlife such as Cranes and Herons
The Woodcroft is situated on the edge of the Somerset Levels. Here you can enjoy a wealth of wildlife such as the Cranes recently introduced back into this country and Herons. The Taunton and Bridgwater Canal is a 2 minute walk from the property where you can walk or cycle or visit the tearooms and take a boat trip. The very picturesque village of North Curry is only 5 minutes in the car with a great shop and post office and lovely old pub. The Newt Beer Festival is held every year in the nearby village of North Newton in the grounds of Maunsel House as seen on T.V. Somerset carnivals are unique and a must in the Autumn, with Bridgwater being the largest lit procession in the world. Quite spectacular!

"What a great place to escape"
I was looking for a quiet retreat near Taunton to allow us to stay with my parents visiting from France and not too far for my husband to get to work. We all had a very enjoyable stay. All the amenities were as described on the website. Little added luxuries, like tea bags, coffee, fresh flowers and a lovely home baked victoria sponge, made us feel very welcome. The owners live next door but were very discreet and friendly.
We enjoyed the countryside, with easy walks along the canal, and were able to watch rabbits and birds on our doorstep.
We would definitely come back and I would recommend this bungalow for anyone wanted to discover Somerset.

"Very comfortable and well equipped holiday home"
We have stayed in the Woodcroft in July 2012.The Woodcroft is a very comfortable and well equipped holiday chalet in the rural countryside of Somerset. When we arrived we found a delicious fruit cake on the table as a welcoming gesture! The kitchen is very complete and of a high quality standard. The livingroom is in the same space as the kitchen: spacious, cosy and comfortable. The beds were good. Since this was our first summer vacation in England we were pleasantly surprised by this chalet and its friendly and hospitable owners. We would certainly recommend this place! There are also many interesting sites and places to visit and see in the neighbourhood. We certainly know: "We'll meet again"...

"Lovely accommodation and grounds."
Unfortunately the week we chose for our holiday was the week of the floods in Somerset & surrounding villages to where we were staying and we left after 3 days! The accommodation was lovely, had everything we needed and was immaculately clean & new inside. The gardens were great as we took our 2 little dogs with us. We were very restricted with the dogs as the weather was so bad we couldn't go walking with them to the local villages which is what we like to do! The owners of the accommodation were very friendly and left us to it! When I booked the holiday I didn't realise the owners house was right next door, which wasnt a problem but I have 2 very inquisitive young dogs who kept wanting to run in there garden!!
