This is a charming cottage set in rural surroundings and overlooking the River Lossie. An open log fire is laid ready for your arrival, the beds are made with carefully ironed linen and everything we think you might need is provided. Accommodation includes one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, a cosy sitting room and a bright kitchen/dining room. A barbecue sit s waiting for the summer sun to be enjoyed in the enclosed garden. The area has so much to offer. There are long sandy beaches along the Moray Firth, places for gentle rambling or more challenging hill walks and too many golf courses to mention! This is also castle country with Brodie Castle, Ballindalloch Castle and Cawdor Castle all within easy reach for a morning's outing and many more just a little further afield. If you have a passion for an interest in Malt Whisky we are on the Whisky Trail which starts with Dallas Dhu and continues on through the Spey Valley, all about a half hour's drive away. And of course being so near the Rivers Findhorn and Spey there is salmon fishing to be had and sometimes on the River Lossie adjacent to the cottage when the river is in spate.

The Moray region
The Moray Firth is renowned for its beautiful countryside and long sandy beaches. Its micro-climate gives it statistically less rain than other regions which is why it is such a popular holiday destination. The top of the Cairngorm Mountain is easily accessible by funicular railway where there are stunning views on a good day for a 100 miles or so to the north and to the Ross-shire hills.
Outdoor activities include walking, hiking, golf, mountain biking, fishing and horse riding. Alternatively a happy day could be spent touring a local castle or visiting one of the many malt whisky distilleries in the area. In the summer months there is a boat festival at Portsoy, the Whisky Festival in Fochabers, and Viking excitements in Burghead with the Burning of the Clavie in January. Whales dolphins, porpoises and seals are often to be seen in the Firth.
The area is rich in history as Picts lived here from about 400AD, MacBeth lived at Spynie just outside Elgin and the famous Vaubin fort, Fort George with its beautiful Adam architecture is a must. There you can trace the history of the Scottish clans and soldiers through the centuries.
In the immediate area the old market town of Forres is a friendly and welcoming place and both it and Elgin have some interesting architecture including, in Elgin the now ruined Elgin Cathedral. It is an imposing mostly 13th Century building which was the seat of the Bishop of Moray. St Michael's Church 50 yards from the Cottage was built in 1793 where services are still held every Sunday. George Mifflin Dallas whose family originally came from the area became the Vice President of the USA and Dallas, Texas may have been named after him.
