Newport, Isle of Wight

Newport is the principal town of the isle of Wight and centres on two elegant squares with Georgian and Victorian architecture surrounding them with the town quay a short distance away There are a good selection of high street shops and restaurants mixing with small independent outlets, with a highly rated farmers market selling a good range of local produce on fridays.

There are also a good selection of attractions around Newport with the Museum of Island History, Quay Arts Centre and the Newport Roman Villa a short walk away and of course the Historic Carisbrooke castle stands proudly over the town, the 12th century fort most famous for imprisoning Charles 1 after his defeat in the English Civil War. The town offers a good selection of entertainment both day and night with the Medina and Apollo Theatres both offering a range of shows at various times of the year. (also worthy of a visit is Shanklin Theatre in Shanklin for an excellent evening out.) .

Newport has a packed calender of events throughout the year with the outstanding festival taking pride of place (not intrusive if its not your cup of tea.) in addition to other events such as the vintage bus rally, carnivals and the classic car show on Newport quay to name but a few.

"A home away from home"

This property has been beautifully refurbished and is stylish yet very homey. The beds are exceptionally comfortable which is a must after a long day trekking around the island. It is with in walking distance to the local town for bars and restaurants and is pretty much central to all the tourist hot spots being a short drive away. I would definitely stay here again!
