"Fantastic lodge with great character!"

Stayed here with some friends for the weekend and it was fantastic! Such a beautiful lodge, very spacious & lots to discover. Plus the host was lovely- very helpful and she even baked us a cake! I can't promise you'll get this every time ;)

Thank you for your review much appreciated. Glad you liked the lemon drizzle cake! Best wishes to all, B

My family asked how I found Yethouse and the answer is lots of searching and comparing. It seemed just what we wanted and the previous reviews were faultless so I sent off my enquiry. Immediately Barbara responded and nothing was too much trouble - she noted that we were celebrating a 21st so suggested all sorts of dining options, putting me in touch with an excellent caterer if we wanted to go down that route. We arrived on a snowy Friday and were welcomed by a smile, informative but not overbearing tour of the house, a fabulous lemon cake and, a lovely touch, a card for my son for his birthday (even remembering his name). Yethouse is the kind of place where you feel like you always knew it, Within a couple of hours we were enjoying a meal and a drink and laughing around the dining table. The house is cosy but much larger than we imagined - just perfect for our group. The beds are wonderful, the hot water plentiful and there is everything you could possibly need for meals, entertainment and relaxing. And the walks - oh the walks! We were lucky because it was either snowing or bright sunshine so we felt like we were stepping into Narnia when we walked through the forest, snow dripping from the trees and silence, complete silence. At night we walked just 50 yards away from the house and gazed at the stars. All very magical. This was a special weekend that we will all remember. If you are reading this and researching and comparing like I was I suggest you stop because I don't think you will find anywhere better.

Thank you so much for taking time to post a review for us. Delighted that the family enjoyed their stay. We have never been compared to Narnia before but our tagline is 'middle of nowhere, centre of everywhere', your review encapsulates exactly what we try to deliver our guests. Thank you for being so gracious. B

"Perfect get away"

Another lovely week at the Yethouse, our 3rd visit, this time with friends as well as our own kids ( and the dogs) . The house was as welcoming as ever, warm, cosy and really well equipped for all the festive cooking, eating and TV watching! The 2nd TV in the sitting room is a fantastic addition. The new mountain bike trail down to the village is great and made the milk run a lot of fun. Highlights this time included a trip to Kielder Observatory , rewarded by clear skies and a great view of the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy, and a fantastic view of Santa's sleigh passing overhead on a clear, sparkling Christmas Eve. Just such a lovely house and location it's hard to explain it in words but the fact that we're hoping to go back for a 4th visit probably says it all.

Thank you for sharing your experiences again. Delighted that the children were all able to see Santa on Christmas eve, made our Christmas as well! Looking forward to next time already. Best wishes B

"The most delightful comfortable character property in The Borders"

Recently were lucky to get a booking at Yethouse Farm in the Scottish Borders. The house was large, comfortable and welcoming as were the hosts Barbara & Paul Elborn. It is a tranquil location within easy reach of Newcastleton surrounded by beautiful walks and breathtaking scenery. There is lots to do and see in the area if you want days out or jsut walk and admire the fabulous location. We had a fabulous week and will certainly be going back!

Thank you for taking time to post a review. Delighted you enjoyed your stay and experienced the Scottish Borders at their best; hot balmy days with a hint of autumn in the evenings. Doesn't get much better than that! We look forward to welcoming you back - next time bring the family, there is plenty of room! Best wishes to all B

"Déjà vu , again :-)"

This was our fifth (or more, lost count really) visit to Yethouse and once again it has been great. Being keen MTB types the news of new MTB trails on the Newcastleton 7-Stanes was an added bonus. The new trails are graded Red/Blue and are definitely worth a visit. To go with the new trails, a new Trailhead will be located at the north end of the village, near the new bridge over the river which was officially opened by the Duke of Buccleugh on Monday 7th July. We've already booked for next year.

Thanks guys, we value your business and loved having you back. Your feedback on the new trails is great - delighted you were amongst the very first to use them - they should be well and truly bedded in for your return next year! Best wishes to all, B

"Stunning location, property and like visiting old friends"

We have been to Yethouse a number of times now and receive the warmest welcome each time. It has everything we could need in a house which is maintained and kitted out to the highest quality, comfortable beds with crisp quality linen, stunning garden and outlook and on the doorstep of breathtaking mountains, rivers and a great base for touring Scotland a bit further. The locals are friendly, good pub grub and there is plenty to do in the house itself, games and 3D TV with an impressive collection of DVDs and books and music if you don't want to travel or prefer a 'lazy' day. Despite it's remoteness, the free wifi means you can also stay in touch with the world. The best part for us is that we don't have to compromise on our own standard of luxury just because we have a dog. He is welcome too and loves it. We will keep coming.

Thanks guys, great to have you back. We know you could have picked other places to try, your business is much valued. Look forward to meeting the new member of the family next year! Best wishes B

"Fabulous house in an amazing part of the world"

The Yethouse is fantastic. Barbara made us feel so welcome. Everything you need is provided. The views from every window are amazing and the skies on a clear night were beautiful. We loved the silence. Great place if you like cycling and we would recommend trying to get to the Kielder Observatory if you can. It was the most fabulous relaxing week in a stunning location!

Thank you for taking time to write a review for us, we really appreciate your comments and absolutely agree that a night at the Kielder Observatory is a must see event. The silence is something we take for granted, its nice to be reminded just how special Yethouse is, thank you for that. Best wishes to all B

"Six-time returners never disappointed, always something new"

We have stayed at Yethouse several times at various times of year. For this most recent trip, with two university students (who enjoyed the village pubs!) and a 15-y-old, we were blessed with only one rainy day, so were able to make the most of the 7 Stanes Mountain biking trails with the more skilled riders driving over to Glentress for a day. The better mountain bikers amongst us cycled through Newcastleton Forest to Kielder and used the tails there whilst the local trails were sufficient for the rest - including a chanllenging red run. Excellent secure bike storage too. It's not all about bikes though - there is lots of adventure up the road at rock UK and the farmhouse is wonderful - warm, cosy and everything you would wish for. There are plenty of walks on the doorstep and lovely views, coffee shops and local supplies in the village and Edinburgh is an easy drive if you fancy a dayof culture. We will definitely be back!
