Burnbrae is located in the heart of the beautiful Scottish Borders, ideal for exploring both the English and Scottish Borders with many historical houses and beautiful gardens. Burnbrae is 60 minutes from Edinburgh and 50 mins from the east coast fishing villages and towns.

Cycling is a particular pleasure on the network of quiet lanes around Burnbrae. There are many shorter trails from most of the main towns and also some longer distance routes including the 4 Abbeys way an 88km (55 mile) circular route linking the four main abbeys in the Scottish Borders - Melrose, Dryburgh, Kelso and Jedburgh. The route follows mainly quiet roads, although short stretches on A roads are unavoidable, a scenic route that takes in many historic interest points. The Scottish Borders is now one of the most cyclist friendly areas of Scotland. In the hills are many tracks which can be cycled by those with the necessary stamina and equipment. In Glentress forest, there are extensive cycling tracks separate from walking paths.

The Tweed River (5 km ) away from Burnbrae has some of the best fishing in the world.

The Scottish Borders is known for is horse riding, Burnbrae is located next door to the Nenthorn Equestrian center from where you can go riding to suit your experience

The local area has many craft workshops, galleries and exhibitions. On site at Burnbrae Studio we have 1 and 2 day craft workshops open to residenrts and non residents, see our website.

Burnbrae is located in the heart of the Scottish Borders, 3 miles from the picturesque, abbey town of Kelso. Kelso is regarded as one of the most charming and beautiful towns in the Scottish Borders complete with cobbled streets, large market square, elegant Georgian buildings and of course the River Tweed and Teviot which are well known for their spectacular fishing. Kelso has many fantastic restaurants and a farmers market. The farmers market and musical events are held in the square.

The local area has many golf courses including Kelso, the Roxburgh and the Hiersel. The Kelso Race course is between Burnbrae and Kelso, near Floors Castle.
