The Scottish Borders region

The Scottish Borders offer the perfect holiday location to suit a wide range of interests. Local attractions include beaches and areas of spectacular natural beauty including Coldingham, St Abbs Head and Bamburgh, historical houses, priories and abbeys and sporting activities including golf, trail and beach riding, cycling on nearby cycle-routes through the unspoilt Berwickshire countryside, hot-air ballooning, fishing on the rivers Tweed and the Whiteadder and off-road driving.

The Borders has a dramatic history and Eyemouth is an ideal base to explore both the east and west borders. Nearby historic houses and sites include Manderston and Mellerstain, Hume Castle, Floors Castle, Kelso Abbey, Smailholm Tower, Norham Castle, Paxton House, Coldingham Priory and Ladykirk Church.

Eyemouth

Eyemouth is a pretty fishing village that still has a working harbour. The town is steeped in history which is best discovered at Gunsgreen House, a magnificent and historic property overlooking the harbour which is now open to the public. Here you can discover the history of smuggling in the area as well as the story of the house and the port of Eyemouth in general.

A few miles up the coast are the local beauty spots of St Abbs and Coldingham. St Abbs is a diving hotspot, with an excellent marine centre and a myriad of wrecks around the rocky coast. Coldingham is a pretty village with a ruined priory and excellent beach which is know for its surf. The entire coastal area is well known for its unspoilt natural beauty and stunning walks.
