Why not settle in and use Hidden Cottage in Cheadle as a base for short spring/summer breaks.Explore the countryside of the Peak district including the Roaches, Churnet Valley, Consall Forge, Dovedale and the Manifold Valley. Visit the market towns of Leek, Ashbourne and Bakewell and the Spa town of Buxton which are all are within easy reach.

Stately homes Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Gawsworth Hall are all within an hours drive (32 mile radius). The National Memorial Arboretum 30 miles, Uttoxeter Racecourse 10.5 miles. Easy access to JCB and Lafarge and good bus service to Hanley for the Theatre Royal,Regent Theater and nightclubs.

Wander around Cheadle and discover " Pugin's gem" St Giles Church designed and built by Augustin Pugin who is famous for designing the Houses of Parliament.Visit the the Victorian indoor market. Dine at the Olive Tree Cheadle's highly rated Tapas restaurant by Trip Adviser. Supermarkets within walking distance. Alton Towers is just down the road.

The Staffordshire region

Staffordshire Moorlands offers the most spectacular countryside of the Peak District, soft undulating fields and meadows contrasting with the rugged beauty of the Roaches surrounded by heather covered moorland.

The area provides a variety of interests for your holiday. Climbing on the roaches, Canal walks from Froghall to the pretty Consall Forge valley, Churnet Valley railway and Combes valley nature reserve, Rudyard Lake and cycling in the Manifold valley are all with in a short drive.

The potteries which only 11 miles away has the factory shops of Emma Bridgewater, Moorcroft , Ainsley China, Wedgewood, Royal Doulton and Spode. A visit to the Gladstone Museum offers a great insight in how the beautiful china and earthenware was made.

If you don't want to drive a good bus service takes you into Handley, Stoke on Trent for the Regent Theatre and the Theatre Royal. JCB on the doorstep and Lafarge Cauldon Low 6 miles.

"A beautiful retreat for two"

The hidden cottage in Cheadle is truly remarkable. Just a few yards from the busy High Street it is hidden away and incredibly quiet. With its own exclusive small well-maintained garden the cottage provides a wonderful retreat for any couple wanting to find peace and tranquillity. The interior of the cottage has been sensitively refurbished to a very high modern standard. The kitchen is immaculately clean as indeed is the whole cottage. The crockery and utensils are all of a high standard the kitchen even boasts of a washing-up machine . The kitchen incorporates a small but adequate eating area
The lounge is beautifully furnished with comfortable armchairs and a 32 inch television which is connected to sky. The bedroom is also well laid out with a king-size very comfortable bed and lovely bedlinen . The bathroom contains an excellent electrics shower and other modern facilities . The cottage has a Wi-Fi hub means you can still receive your emails. During the week that we were there the weather turned much cooler we were pleasantly surprised as the heating in the cottage cut in automatically ensuring that we were always warm and comfortable. The owner could not be more helpful providing a beautiful bunch of flowers in the lounge, a pint of milk in the fridge. As we travelled by public transport we were met at the station in Stoke which made our journey so much easier. The town of Cheadle is a beautiful old market town which certainly contained all the amenities we required especially a wonderful local bakers. The location of Cheadle makes it an ideal area for people to explore The Peak District
I have no hesitation in recommending cottage as an ideal retreat for two people. I am asked to give this review marks 1 to 5, I would give it 20

"A wonderful cottage,ideally located"

We had a great stay in this lovely flat nested in the heart of a very pleasnat village.The place is very peaceful but all the shops are very close as well as restaurants and pubs.The cosy flat is spotless and beautifully decorated with the finest taste.It is spacious,equipped with everything you need and opening onto a nice patio with flowers.All around Cheadle ,you can walk in the beautiful english countryside or trek in the wild Peak district.You can also visit the somptuous stately homes or do some shopping in the nearby towns.The owner, is very friendly and most welcoming.An amazing place which we recommend without hesitation.
