This attractive and comfortable detached bungalow (non-smoking) is surrounded by a very large (but not enclosed) garden (0.5 acres). It is situated in a quiet lane close to the edge of Sutterton village, between Boston and Spalding in South Lincolnshire. It provides a peaceful base for a relaxing country holiday. The bungalow is regularly inspected by the English Tourist Board, and has a "3 STARS" Classification.
The accommodation consists of two double bedrooms, sitting room (with colour TV, DVD and video), bathroom, kitchen and dining area. It is fully double glazed and cavity wall insulated. One bedroom has a double bed, the other two 3' single beds. An automatic washing machine, fridge -freezer, microwave and a full size cooker are fitted. The kitchen is fully equipped for four people. The central heating is oil-fired and there is also a coal effect electric fire fitted in the sitting room. A telephone is installed for incoming calls only, and a cot and high-chair are available on request. There is a large gravelled driveway with ample parking for several cars. WiFi.

The Heart of England/Peak District
The bungalow is located on the outskirts of Sutterton village, roughly midway between Boston and Spalding. Boston is a typical market town, with markets held on Saturdays as well as on Wednesdays. There's an open-air auction held at the Wednesday market, with the lots including furniture, garden tools, plants, fruit and vegetables - worth visiting for 'people watching' if not for the bargains available!
Boston St. Botolph's church (the Stump) is the largest parish church in the U.K., and also boasts the tallest non-cathedral church tower in the world. The tower is visible for miles around and has been used as a landmark for shipping on the Wash for centuries.
RSPB reserves around the Wash make the area a magnet for bird-watchers, as the local salt marshes provide feeding grounds for many different birds, mostly wild fowl, waders and gulls. The coastal walks along the sea banks make the most of the wide-open skies and sea views.
There's a range of good garden centres with knowledgeable staff locally, the largest centre being Baytree on the outskirts of Spalding. The Spalding Flower Parade in early May is well-known nationally, and many local churches have their own Flower Festivals around the same time. Ayschougfee Hall in Spading is a museum and community centre, with a large garden and sports facilities (bowling green, tennis courts)and an aviary and cafe.
Spalding also has a large Outlet Centre (Springfields)with over 50 factory shops including many big names. There are also themed gardens and a Playbarn for young children.
Lincoln is a Cathedral city, with a castle and a mediaeval Bishop's Palace, apprx. 30 miles from the property.
In contrast, Skegness is a seaside town to the north of Boston, with a long and wide sandy beach. Gibraltar Point near Skegness, with its new Visitor Centre, is a National Nature Reserve on the northern limit of the Wash.

"A lovley bunaglow every amenity but let down by the bad damp smell"
A lovely bungalow in a quiet village, clean and tidy but unfortunately let down by the extremely bad smell of damp. We booked for weekend to visit friends in the village but cut our stay short.… More
We are sorry that these visitors who had only booked for a short break of 3 nights at the end of August, were concerned about a smell of damp. This is not normally a problem in the bungalow, (we visit and stay there regularly ourselves) and we can only think that on this occasion the cleaner washed the tiled floors in the kitchen, dining area and bathroom as her last job before guests arrived. We have asked her to do this at an earlier stage in future, to make sure the floors have time to dry thoroughly before she leaves.

"Dissapointing, drab, dirty, neglected property, a real let down."
found bungalow very drab, dirty smell, we arrived at 3.45pm, had cuppa, started to unpack. Got a phone call from owner, asking if all was well, which we thought it was, until we went to put clothes in… More
We are sorry that these guests did not enjoy their stay at Somercotes. The negative tone of this review is wholly at variance with the many comments from other guests in our visitor book, an earlier 2014 Trip Advisor review and also our annual inspection report. We employ an excellent cleaner, who takes great pride in the presentation of the property and this is reflected in both these comments and the assessment.
We 'phoned these guests some time after their arrival, and they confirmed that everything was in order and they had no problems. They had both our landline and mobile numbers, also our email address, and we emphasised that they were to let us know immediately if they had any problems. They failed to do so.
We feel that the photos. on our website give an accurate portrayal of the style and quality of the furniture and fittings in the bungalow.

"Comfortabel & secluded getaway"
After staying in 11 rental cottages around the UK we would rate this the best stay of them all. It was a spacious, secluded detached bungalow which was well appointed. Located in a quiet village it was still central to the area with easy road access. There was ample off road parking space with good access to the house, which was one one level so there were no stairs to worry about. A pleasing touch was not only the welcoming basket of goodies but a follow up phone call from the owner to welcome us and enquire if all was well. An added bonus was the facility to shave in front of a mirror in the bathroom, which was not found in most cottages. Clear instructions were left for the various appliances as well as local facilities. It was clean and well kept. It was a cosy cottage with a lovely homey feel.
We are always delighted to hear that our visitors have been comfortable and enjoyed their stay at our holiday bungalow.
