Little Woodacott is a cosy woodland self-contained, non-smoking, one bedroom cottage, sleeping two people, set in our 10 acres of Bugford Wood an historic and peaceful oak forest in East Down, near Barnstaple, North Devon. Guest will find plenty of interest should they decide to explore the woods.

Bugford Wood has a network of forest paths zig-zagging among oak, beech, ash, birch, hazel and a variety of conifers, including redwoods, with the river Yeo as its eastern boundary. There is abundant bird life with the occasional roe or even red deer. Public footpaths are nearby.

Arlington Court, a National Trust property set in extensive grounds is close by.

Interaction with guest

If you prefer you can self-check in. There are instructions and a keysafe in the sentry box by the carpark. The woodland path to LIttle Woodacott is clearly marked. If you arrive when dark an automatic sensor light comes on over the carpark, there is a light inside the sentry box. You will be given the combination for the keysafe before you arrive. There is a TOUCH switch inside the sentrybox which you press if dark to light up the woodland path. There is another TOUCH switch inside the front porch to be used when leaving the cottage if dark. Alternatively we are happy to meet and welcome you on arrival.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Harley (the owner) a message.

If Harley (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
