Newly built in 2016 semi-detached and self-contained holiday flat situated in a relaxing and quiet corner of the popular seaside village of Gullane. 'The Hawthorns' runs adjacent to Muirfield Golf Course and paths leading directly to Gullane beach are literally on the doorstep. This modern accommodation has been finished to a high standard with quality fixtures and fittings throughout, super-fast broadband, SMART tv with dvd and Nespresso coffee maker, amongst other mod cons. The flat faces an open garden space with dedicated lawn at the front and an enclosed south-facing garden area at the back. For cooler evenings at any time of year guests can relax beside 'Little Red', the wood burning stove. The village of Gullane offers something for everyone including well-known pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. North Berwick is just 10 minutes by car, and Edinburgh, one of Europe's most beautiful and popular cities, is just 20 minutes by train.

East Lothian - a popular holiday destination with good reason! We have so many places to visit, both historical and modern, with something to suit every taste and budget. Many places nearby make great day-trips (for example Scottish Seabird Centre, National Museum of Flight, North Berwick for boat trips, Preston Mill at East Linton, Musselburgh Race Course, Glenkinchie Distillery, East Links Family Park), we have places of historical interest (castles, churches, museums, hill forts and dovecots), events of all kinds (Edinburgh festivals, Fringe by the Sea in North Berwick, our regional book festival at Lennoxlove), outdoor activities (sailing, wake-boarding, horse-riding, cycling, climbing walls, to name but a few); and arts to be enjoyed (art galleries all over the county and 3 Harbours Arts Festival held every year in Cockenzie). Some of the area's beautiful gardens are also open to the public during the year. Visitors can take a short trip to Edinburgh for the theatre and arts cinemas, or visit our local theatre, The Brunton, in Musselburgh, or Fort Kinnaird for mainstream cinema.

Most obviously, perhaps, we have beaches galore! The wide-open beauty of Gullane beach is on our doorstep, but visitors can also choose to enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful beaches at Yellowcraigs, Seacliff, Tantallon or Belhaven.

Gullane

Gullane is a small place with a big name! There is plenty to choose from when it comes to places to eat and drink, with something to offer every taste and budget. Internationally renowned Greywalls Hotel and Restaurant is a block away for an evening meal or afternoon tea, or some might prefer fish and chips to take down to the beach and enjoy whilst watching the setting sun. La Potiniere continues to enjoy a long-held reputation for first-class food and local pubs The Clubhouse, The Golf and the new 'The Main Course' also offer great food for a holiday treat. There is also a deli, a Co-op, a local coffee shop and Falko Konditormeister for top-quality bread, coffee and cakes.

Seeing the wildlife is a daily occurrence in this area, whether it be birds of prey, sea birds, deer, occasionally a star-fish on the beach or a hare in the field. If you'd rather walk in-land there are plenty of places to walk either along quiet country lanes or through peaceful woodland such as Binning Wood.

Archerfield House, including the walled garden, and Spa is between Gullane and Dirleton.

“New Year break”

The holiday was fantastic and the accommodation was quaint but of the highest standard and in a beautiful location. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a young family.

“Charming cottage with excellent facilities and location”

Stayed for a few days with our little dog Billy. We were made very welcome by Adria, the milk and wine were a lovely touch and greatly appreciated as we arrived later than anticipated. The location was just what we wanted, not to far from the beach and the local facilities. There was everything you could need for a holiday, with all the home comforts. Will return very soon.

“ideal for our needs”

We were visiting Scotland to see our son receive his Phd at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh. His flat is too small to stay there so Gullane was an ideal alternative. The small house was perfect for us, well appointed and maintained and in easy reach of Edinburgh.
