“A relaxing stay”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2015

Well presented accommodation with plenty of space. Lovely garden with all amenities, the very back of the garden behind the plants needs some protective wiring as my adventurous Parson Russell found his way out into the neighbours gardens. Very well equipped and hard to improve upon except perhaps some small bedside lamps in the bedrooms. Thank you for the opportunity to be in East Linton

“Lovely house and holiday location”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our week based in East Linton. The house and garden were lovely and a great base. The owner was really helpful too. There's loads to do locally from lovely walks and playing tennis to great pub food. At only around 45 mins in the car, it was also a good venue for visiting the Edinburgh Fringe too. We would happily return for a holiday there.

So pleased you enjoyed your week at Driftwood Cottage. East Linton is just a fantastic place to visit and perfect if you are bringing a dog. I hope to see you again Gillian

“Idyllic, quiet, peaceful, warm and wonderful surprises ... We will be coming back”

Reviewed 15 May 2014

Tucked away behind hedges, Driftwood had for me many lovely surprises. The first was the Tardis like size and space of the property (check out the new video and compare with the picture of the front door above). It is a lovely cottage that has been tastefully and cleverly extended which gave us loads of room to spread out. At this point I must admit to loving fires, and spent many an hour in front of the wood burning stove (both of them, which I'll come to later). Really comfortable beds, lots of seating and space for everyone to spread out and decorated in an airy, light way making the whole experience great. The garden was quiet and secluded, the decking space great for sitting out with a glass of wine and provided for me, the second fabulous surprise ... at the bottom of the garden is a Yurt with another wood burning stove and loads of cushions ... heaven :) It turned the one night of rain on our break into a truly magical experience ... wine, fire, company, cushions .. mmm. The third surprise, East Linton, easy to get to, go for a walk down by the river, see the old mill, enjoy the pubs ... to be honest we didn't have to leave the village ... but there is much to do nearby North Berwick, Tantallon castle, Air museum, Gullane, Haddington (St Mary's) and close to Edinburgh (although why bother, we didn't :) ). The Wifi and TV all worked, although I admit I was hiding away so did not use them much. The showers were fabulous, and the kitchen was great for communal cooking (and wine drinking). The booking process, key handover and the support from Gillian at East Coast made everything go so smoothly. No stress, just relaxation ... really what we needed. As you may be able to tell we loved Driftwood and East Linton, I can't recommend it highly enough and will definietly be going back ... and maybe this time bring my golf clubs. Thanks Driftwood for some truly great memories :) Cheers Stuart

“Everything you could want in a holiday cottage!”

We spent a week in Driftwood Cottage at the end of April and absolutely loved it. The cottage is deceptively spacious and has a great mix of cosy corners and open airy living space. We spent most of our time in the back extension which is lovely and light and feels very private. Having 2 bathrooms is a real bonus and the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed for self catering and the woodburner in the snug is the best I have ever used! We loved the garden which was full of plants, trees and birds, and the yurt is a great and unusual added feature for relaxing in. The cottage is perfectly located just a 5 minute walk from the centre of East Linton which has all the basic amenities you need including a co-op, deli and pharmacy, but as the cottage is set back from the road it is really quiet and peaceful inside. East Linton is a lovely little place and within easy reach of the coast and coastal towns as well as Edinburgh - we took a 30min train in for the day from North Berwick for about £7 return which worked really well. I would highly recommend Driftwood Cottage to anyone looking to stay in the area, it is great value for the space, location, and quality and the owner was also really great to deal with.

“Driftaway Retreat”

Reviewed 7 May 2014

As a busy city dweller with fast paced life....I found Driftwood to be the tranquil haven I had been searching for.......the soft colours used throughout the cottage combined with patio doors out into beautiful country garden...gave me the space I needed to relax.....and switch off.... I had thought I would also have to organise bringing lots of things with me but with the co-op, post office, hair dresser, coffee shop and pub at end of road and gorgeous walks on the door step....I found I didn't need to go very far....also the cottage had all mod cons, with TV, internet and everything you could want in kitchen so was a proper home from home.......I ended up most nights reading by the log burning fire and listening to music.....bliss!! Also relaxing in bath with glass of wine was just wonderful! I also found it very easy to get on to motorway and into Edinburgh when I needed a bit of shopping therapy....so what a great location!! I would definitely recommend Driftwood for anyone looking to just escape from it all and relax!
