Description from owner

Description

The Coach House sleeps 8 adults + 2 children in 4 bedrooms with 4 bathroom/shower rooms. Its main feature is the huge living area incorporating the original stonework and arches of the original old Coach House and the breathtaking vista into Kinblethmont woodlands through the glass fronted sunroom area. The walled garden and its play area, orchard and large terrace area is a short walk away.

High quality materials have been used throughout from the solid oak staircase to the polished granite work surfaces in the high-specification kitchen with all modern conveniences.

The Coach House is kept cosy and warm with underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs - all fuelled by woodchips from the Kinblethmont estate and there is also a woodburning stove to snuggle up to on chillier evenings. It has a 3D TV with Sky channels and a DVD player as well as free WiFi ( rural connection - approx 2 Mb) for the times you feel like staying indoors.

The patio area is accessed from the sunroom french windows and has tables, chairs and loungers allowing you to make the most of the better weather . Or if you prefer, the sunroom area itself is a suntrap and has chairs for relaxing in allowing you to watch the world go by, do some bird spotting (we provide the binoculars) or simply to keep an eye on the children as they play outside.

There is a double bedroom downstairs with a shower room next to it and the large family room upstairs can sleep 4 with twin beds, a day bed and truckle bed and it has a TV for DVDs. The other large bedrooms are a twin and a king. All twin beds can be made up as doubles so the house is pretty versatile easily accommodating 4 couples, 2 families or an extended family group.

The Coach House is attached to 'The Stables' which has its own entrance at the opposite end of the building and its own garden areas. The two properties can however, be joined for larger groups of 12-14.

A high chair and cot can be made available on request at no extra charge.

Why not hire some of our bikes and see the area at a more leisurely pace.

Kinblethmont House holds 4 exhibitions a year in the art gallery and entry is free, so well worth a visit if your stay coincides.

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

Kinblethmont estate has ideal access ideal for a taste of all good things that Scotland has to offer. The historic castles of Glamis and Dunnottar are easily reached, there is hill walking in the Angus Glens and there are beautiful beaches 10 minutes away. Golf courses abound and there is both sea and fresh water fishing locally. We are famous for our local food - Arbroath smokies, Aberdeen Angus beef and of course the delicious local soft fruit.

Arbroath

Within 10 minutes drive of Kinblethmont there is the historic town of Arbroath with its Abbey, atmospheric harbour, Hospitalfield House and cliff walks. The award winning beach of Lunan bay is very close and there are award winning restaurants in Auchmithie and Inverkeilor. Of course you do not need to leave the estate to have a relaxing time with its woodland walks, walled garden and why not hire one of our bikes for a day or two.

“Ticked all the boxes and more”

Reviewed 15 Nov 2014

Stayed at the Coach House and Stables for a long weekend with family ranging in ages from 3 to 93 to celebrate a special birthday. The facilities were perfect for everyone , with 93 yr old great grandma in the Coach House downstairs bedroom, and the family group with children in the Stables. We were joined by friends on Saturday and 16 of us sat down to a splendid catered lunch. Clarissa and Penny from Kinblethmont were most helpful from the planning stage onwards .I was able to visit in advance to see over the cottages ,and they were kind enough to provide special crockery and cutlery for the lunch . The cottages are furnished to an extremely high standard and every eventuality has been thought of .We felt we were staying in 5 star luxury and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

“Superb accommodation and location.”

We stayed at the coach house & stables for a large family holiday, in July. The accommodation was spacious, lovely and well equipped. The surrounding area was very peaceful, with beautiful, well marked walks. There is also a large walled garden with table tennis, badmington, football and a small park for the wee ones with swing, chute etc. There is stables nearby where we were able to do some horse riding, and small ponies for the wee ones. Stunning Lunan Bay is only 10 mins away, Arbroath also, where we got the obligatory (and excellent) smokies. Garden space outside cottages was ample, with plenty of tables/seating.
