Where the heart is Be welcomed in with open arms. With its warm, country house styling, antique furniture and artwork collected over three decades of loving and loyal ownership, this really is where the heart is. The definition of a family home, this is somewhere you can relax completely and feel looked after. Take a walk to the park and breathe in the fresh air of this lovely, leafy suburb, pick up a few things on the local high street, and then stroll back to your haven to put your feet up. Family portrait Your host was born and bred in Wimbledon. She and her husband have lived in this house for 30 years, this is where they brought up their three children, who now have families of their own. She’s an art historian and her husband is a retired banker. They both have very green fingers, which you’ll be able to vouch for as you make your way up the pretty front path. Loved over the years Purple flowers and a stained glass front door greet you as you approach this gorgeous, elegantly relaxed family home. Inside, the house has a reassuring hum of having been thoroughly lived in. You can just picture the children and grandchildren running around. All the rooms are tranquil and comfortable, with pale, subtle tones and beautifully furnished with antique wood furniture. Light pours into the extended conservatory and throughout the house, which feels at once expansive but cosy. There are plenty of bathrooms, and the kitchen is open plan to the dining area, where everyone can gather round a table to eat together. Or, have breakfast outside and enjoy the lovingly tended garden. Time together This village side of this lovely suburb drips with stylish cafes, elegant houses and boutiques, but you’ll also find green space a-plenty over at Wimbledon Common, perfect for family picnics, ball games and an escape from the city. When you’re ready to travel back in, you can get into central London in half an hour by train from nearby Wimbledon Station. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, hob (gas), communications/internet, entertainment.  …see more

Float like a butterfly You can range the arid plains or climb the cloudiest mountaintop. But you’ll struggle to find a finer habitat than this one. Every animal under the sun has made Manville Road its home, from the mighty rhino to the cutest, cuddliest hippo. And there’s plenty of room for you too. The master bedroom is majestic, the decor truly exotic and you’ve a sprawling back garden in which to graze or gallop. When there’s even a live-in maid at your service, we know any king of the jungle will purr. As for the grasslands of Tooting Bec Common, or town itself, you’ll be there in a hummingbird’s wingbeat. Eagle eyed Your hostess is from South Africa, and brings home more exciting souvenirs with each visit. The family includes three young children and Otis, their King Charles spaniel. Lion heart No matter how large your brood, this home is a Serengeti of space. The drawing room is as elegant as it is exotic, with a wall of arty animal heads gazing over ivory-white sofas and a gracious ottoman. Just as inviting is the modern sitting room. Here you’ve a corner sofa on which to sprawl, all manner of African figurines at which to look and a honeyed wooden floor glazed with daylight. When dinner’s been readied in the open plan kitchen, hungry cubs have the choice of breakfast bar, dining table or garden. Should they choose the latter, a barbecue, trampoline and even a treehouse are waiting to be discovered. If yours is the master bedroom, you’ll love sinking your feet into the soft carpet or indulging yourself in the lavish ensuite. Both the double and king bedrooms bloom with floral artwork and period furnishings, while the children’s bedrooms are funky and full of life. There's a shower room and bathroom, similarly a-brim with our White Company goodies. Hungry like the wolf Little ones will love to romp around Tooting Bec Common, while the shops of Balham High Road should keep family picnic hampers full to bursting. You’re within a walk, or briefest bus trip, from Clapham’s vibrant restaurants and bars, while the West End is within easy reach. The tube from Tooting Bec to Oxford Circus takes around twenty five minutes. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, nespresso coffee machine, entertainment, dish washer (2), breakfast bar, communications/internet, hob (induction).  …see more

Smash hit As well as an affluent residential suburb, Wimbledon is something of a mecca for sports fans the world over, hosting the planet’s most famous tennis tournament. It’s also the home to Wimbledon Village stables – the oldest riding stables in England. And for more sedate pursuits, there are upscale eateries and boutiques a-plenty on the buzzing high street. After a day’s thrill seeking, set weary feet towards Queen's Road, an immaculate four bedroom, three bathroom Victorian home, regally poised amidst grand period conversions, and let yourself unwind. Fair play Your host is the mother of two young children, and together they’ve made Queen’s Road into a fun-filled family home. Her keen aesthetic sensibilities are played out all over the space in the decadent interior, and the kids’ effervescent playfulness is hinted at in the huge trampoline that takes pride of place in the large back garden. Great match Step inside the slate coloured sitting room, where baroque sofas sit alongside crystal chandeliers and a dark wood piano. Relax on the lilac cushions and admire the huge gilt mirror above the original fireplace, and the modern art that adorns the walls. Afterwards, head through to the massive, open-plan kitchen and dining room, with a beautiful where a no-expense-spared approach to fixtures and fittings is clearly evident. Prepare a tasty treat on the chrome stove-island, and enjoy it on the extending ten-seater dining table overlooking the garden. Or, go full-on al fresco and dine on the patio furniture. If you’re in the mood for a family flick, curl up in the snug TV room, where a deep L-shaped sofa offers flawless views of the enormous wall-mounted flat-screen TV. Upstairs in the master bedroom, recline on the super king-size bed beneath characterful ceiling beams, or luxuriate on the sofa before the original sash window, and enjoy a book plucked from the extensive bookcase. Next door, a spa-style bathroom with a bath and muted stone tiles, will please every penchant for pampering. Ascend further to the second floor, past the family bathroom, and into the single bedroom, where a football table and overflowing toy chest hint at the little boy who stakes his claim here. On the crowning third floor, you’ll find a final large elegant bathroom, and two double bedrooms, each in sophisticated neutral colours, antique furniture, and black and white family photographs. Centre court Explore the achingly affluent (and conveniently close-by) milieus of Wimbledon Village, where handsome period buildings house independent clothing boutiques and European cafés. Or visit The Wombles’ stomping ground on Wimbledon Common, where acres of woodland provide a verdant slice within the city. Further a-field, central London can be reached within 30 minutes via Wimbledon Rail Station, which is just around the corner. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, off-road parking, communications/internet, childrens' toys, hob (gas), entertainment.  …see more

Peaceful provinces This is the urban dream. To escape the city and seek a place where kids can be carefree. Somewhere that you can soothe your soul in a sunny spot. Such is the yearning that drives city dwellers southwards to Wimbledon, a quieter corner of London’s domain. And in this family home, peppered with artefacts from far-flung reaches, you’ll have discovered your very own sanctuary. Rest easy The little ones - thanks to peerless childproofing and provisions - are sorted, and playing under the quieting gaze of a benevolent Buddha. From the moment you open the door into the first sun-soaked room, and from that room into another, and then another, a sense of calm unfolds. It’s a different world indeed from the grunt and grind of city life. Exotic contemplations The Victorians knew their interiors. As you journey through you’ll see high, embellished ceilings, creaking floorboards and original tiles… And of course huge, sash windows with light streaming in. Maybe it’s what you were expecting. We are in the genteel neighbourhood of lawn tennis and strawberries and cream, after all. Or are we? Stop to unwind in the conservatory – all bare-brick walls, cool white tiles and dappled rays – and you might think you were a far cry from Wimbledon. Let your mind drift on that. Silk route reveries Threaded throughout with foreign treasures, from niche-dwelling figures to jewel-coloured wall hangings, this home is a tapestry that tells of a deep love and respect for a world beyond. And no wonder - our hostess has worked and travelled extensively, from Nepal and Papua New Guinea to the Dark Continent. So whether you plump for lounging on the sofa, or pull up an embroidered cushion by the fire, this place will rouse your sense of wonder. Even as you doze off after a long day. And if you rise from your slumber itching to go out and explore, you’re in luck. We may be out in one of the city’s further pockets, but the road to its heart is fast-paced. Wimbledon Park and Wimbledon Common are but a short jaunt away, while you can arrive in central London – door to the world itself – within half an hour. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, nespresso coffee machine, entertainment, washer / dryer, child's highchair (2), hob (gas), communications/internet.  …see more

Painter and decorator As with all homes of beauty, there’s an art behind Ouseley Road. You can see it in the period features, the splashes of strident colour and the sleek, modern finish. And most of all, in the gallery of modern paintings gracing each room. Yet, unlike precious vases or priceless portraits, this isn’t a home to be looked at but never touched. A big, friendly family den, the kitchen is high spec and huge, while the kid-friendly garden has fun daubed all over it. With both Clapham and Wandsworth commons nearby, as well as south London’s finest restaurants and shops, this is one landscape you can’t tire of. Artist in residence Your hostess lives here with her family and a beautiful black Labrador called Phoenix. Many of the splendid artwork you’ll see about the house was created by her brother, a celebrated artist who has also exhibited in the Tate. Colour field A marriage of the grand, the modern and the spacious, this is a family home with no little flair. The sitting room has two halves: the first formal yet fancy, the second sleek and snuggly. Whether you run an admiring eye over the corniced ceiling, vintage furnishings and ripe red armchairs, or just flick on the TV, cross the cowhide rug and flump on the sofa, is entirely up to you. We’re certain, however, that you’ll love the huge, high spec kitchen, drenched in daylight from folding glass doors which welcome every whisper of garden air inside. Whip up something spectacular and tuck in at the classy table for six, or outside just as the sun sets. The cloakroom is delicious in purple, while five bedrooms beckon upstairs. You’ve a twin room, an elegant double, a sofa bedroom and a welcoming double nestling in the eaves. The shower room is arrayed with our White Company goodies, while the graceful master has artwork, period furniture and a dazzling ensuite. En plein air You’re in one of the leafier parts of town, with the rolling turf of Wandsworth and Clapham commons perfect for those who wish to picnic, or romp around. Pick up some market fresh produce at Northcote Road, or treat yourself to the Michelin-starred fare on the menu at Chez Bruce. You’ve the genteel delights of Clapham Old Town, as well as the bright lights of town itself. The tube from Balham to Oxford Circus takes just twenty minutes. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, dish washer (2), hob (gas), communications/internet, entertainment.  …see more

Fur and fang You’ll take to Burntwood Grange Road like the proverbial mallard to aqua pura. And how could you not, its uplifting colour palette and animal print wallpaper charming from the moment you cross the threshold? Butterflies flutter by across the nursery, birds of paradise soar in the master bedroom and a friendly pack of four-legged friends populate the walls’ many frames, from dogs and tigers to a particularly nimble fox. But the feather in this home’s cap is surely the open-plan living area. Map out the day’s explorations at the rustic dining table, or gallop through the French doors into the verdant garden. Birds of a feather Your hosts are a couple with a young baby and a love of many four-legged and feathery creatures. They’ve spent the last two years renovating their home and are, rightly so, peacock-proud of the results. Fauna to be wild Whether you spread your wings and migrate to nearby Wandsworth Common, or graze at the eateries of Bellevue Road, you’ll be grateful for the cosy drawing room’s sumptuous green sofa and rich mahogany furniture when you return home. There’s space for the whole flock, with a choice of three lofty bedrooms within which to unfurl. And the leafy prints and fern-green hues of the bathrooms will win over even the most shrewd of creatures. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, nespresso coffee machine, entertainment, hob (gas), child's highchair, underfloor heating, breakfast bar, off-road parking, communications/internet.  …see more

Sandy shores Not the gritty kind, we assure you, but instead carpets, flagstones and wood all shaded in the gentlest gold. For there’s an undeniable glamour to this relaxed, spacious townhouse, with its lustrous fabrics, grand windows and treasured antiques. But despite its feeling of the Italian hills, Wandsworth Common is within an easy walk and so too are vibrant cafés, shops and restaurants. Follow the park down to the Thames and watch the sun set upon the water. It’s not Lake Como, but as the swans glide by in the violet twilight you won’t want to be anywhere else. The jet set Your trilingual hostess spent a couple of years living in Italy and returned to the UK with a love of all things Tuscan. She renovated Tilehurst Road herself and now resides here with her lawyer husband and their two young boys. See and be seen There’s a boutique quality to the sumptuous sitting room with its thick drapes, wood-burning stove and elegant grey walls. The kitchen, by contrast, is all sweetness and light, a wall of glass overlooking the pretty garden. Of villa proportions, you’ll find there are no fewer than four bedrooms: the children’s filled with books and toys, while the two airy doubles each play canvas to a collection of interesting artworks. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, underfloor heating, hob (gas), communications/internet, entertainment.  …see more

View finder Allow us, if you will, some selective focus. A rare subject that looks flattering from every angle, Gosberton Road stands out from its Clapham backdrop like a star in a candid shot. You’ve shapely sconces, vintage dusky furniture and a splendidly tiled Victorian hallway. The coffee table is coolly upcycled from a cast-iron gate, and the master bedroom’s particularly airy with tall windows and creamy walls. So stay in and marvel at the B&W prints, or turn to Clapham and capture a few of your own. Shutterbug A high-end fashion photographer, your hostess transformed Gosberton Road herself. Having just turned freelance, she’s shortly off to Asia for two months, and – as you can see from the snaps on her wall – has already seen Africa from every angle. Depth of field Head first to the cosy sitting room: settle into a sofa, a glass of something refreshing resting on the eye-catching coffee table, or look across the landscapes and prints that pepper the walls. You’ve two dining tables to choose from, one mannerly and the other modern, or you could take your plate outside. At once leafy and bright, the patio will make all subjects smile on cue. And as for the comfortable master, you’re sure to fall asleep in a flash. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, hob (gas), communications/internet, nespresso coffee machine, entertainment.  …see more

Hive of tranquillity Close enough to central London to feel the buzz, yet far enough away to enjoy the slower pace of suburban living, Pine Grove offers the best of both. During the day, take the kids for a ride at the nearby Ridgeway stables, and for a spot of lunch in the picturesque Windmill tea rooms. Then come evening, set off for Soho where you watch a world famous stage show and see Piccadilly’s bright lights. Once weary, return to your three bedroom, three bathroom den and enjoy entertaining in the huge kitchen diner, or tuck the kids up and indulge in some quiet time in the master bedroom. Slumber party Your host is an industrious charity worker who helps young people to find employment, and after a long day she loves to relax in the Wimbledon dominion which she shares with her husband and their two young daughters. Together they enjoy trips to the local Cannizaro Park and dining al fresco in their large garden. Calm and collected Make the kitchen your first port of call on stepping into this spacious family home – get a fix at the state of the art coffee machine, or rustle something up using the high end chrome appliances. Pull up a pew at the large six seater dining table, which sits beneath a large canvas of rustic art, and gaze out of the double doors to the verdant garden. From its landscaped paving, admire the creeper-strewn wall trellises, and shelter from rain or shine under the large parasol. Upstairs, the first floor sitting room is made for relaxing, so recline on the three piece suite’s sofa and curl up, surrounded by a tranquil colour palate and mood lighting. If you fancy a breath of fresh air, stretch your legs on the adjoining terrace which offers charming view of the treetops. Next door there’s a sleek, white double bedroom and spa style shower room. Wander up to the second floor master suite where you’ll find a king sized bed and soothing décor, a sumptuous padded armchair, and a luxe boutique bathroom, complete with natural limestone tiles, a large walk-in shower and a heated towel rack. Pastoral care With wide green spaces a-plenty and good transport links to central London, Wimbledon is one of London’s most family-friendly suburbs. Take a wander in Richmond Park and circle the lake, or admire the deer park’s antlered residents, then saunter through Wimbledon Village where boutique shops and restaurants abound. Reach central London in 40 minutes via Wimbledon station. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, nespresso coffee machine, entertainment, child's highchair, underfloor heating, hob (gas), communications/internet.  …see more

Latest collection Elegance is St Aubyn’s Avenue’s middle name. A family home from the most dapper shelf of Wimbledon’s wardrobe, if your ménage longs for a makeover, they only have to step inside. But nowhere does this seven-bedroom house sacrifice fit for fashion. You’ve everything from chandeliers to wishbone chairs, glass-walled gyms to huge gardens, and walls of books to floral bathrooms. And if you still can’t decide what to wear, fear not. The furniture nods to styles and vintages both past and (very) present, while the chaise longues, the Eames Chairs and the Steinbach piano ought to give all plenty to muse upon. Clan glam Originally from New York, your hosts have shrugged off one fashion capital and donned another. They’ve arrived in Wimbledon by way of Knightsbridge – drawn by the air, the leafiness and their children’s fondness for its fantastic garden. Twin set Lined with blushing blossom trees, even your street dresses to impress. Downstairs, the book-lined TV snug is the intellectual of the family where, while little ones frolic on the sprawling lawn, you can grab a volume and watch on through the French doors. But venture past the hallway’s fine chandelier and you’ll find something even more elegant in the sitting room. Classic styled with modern, you might recline before the fireplace beneath an angular skylight, or gaze beyond the coffee walls through full-height windows – the view of the neat garden is something to behold. Yes, with an on-trend kitchen, a delicately patterned, grand master bedroom and five indulgent bathrooms, this is truly a home tailored for every brood. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, oven (2), entertainment, tumble dryer (2), washing machine (2), underfloor heating, hob (gas), communications/internet, hob (induction).  …see more

Mix it up There’s no need to choose between beauty and function when you can have both, in abundance. This is a home that knows how to balance the two. Sleek, contemporary fixtures and practical designs provide everything you need for comfortable, modern living, no corners cut, but this modern backdrop is peppered with wonderful, one-off pieces in all sorts of styles, from all sorts of eras. Right here in the middle of lovely Clapham, itself a charmingly mixed bag of elements affluent and bohemian, get ready to mix up old and new, practical and downright decadent. Outrageous. Eclecticists Your hosts are a creative pair who own a marketing company. They renovated this house together. They unwind with walks on Clapham Common or a spot of golf. Brazen contrasts This home seems to buzz ever so slightly with creative energy. It's the kind of place you'll suddenly rediscover a love of crafts. Good thing there's a big table, then, ready for creative antics – even if that turns out just to be cooking and serving a fabulous meal. The big, clean-cut, modern kitchen flows out to the garden, with flooring spreading from inside to out. Sky lights lend a sleek, contemporary look and feel. In brilliantly brazen contrast, find the cosy sitting room and other rooms decked out in warm colours and textures, radiating a distinct ethnic vibe. Collected trinkets adorn the shelves of many rooms, and the walls bear vibrant art work in bold colour schemes. A broad view Mansions, parks and delightful cafes meet cocktail bars and a thriving nightlife here in Clapham, a large suburb taking in all walks of life. Restaurants and delis rub shoulders with boutiques and the common is within striking distance. For central London the tube takes about 25 minutes. Additional amenities include: video game console, concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, hob (gas), entertainment, communications/internet, washer / dryer.  …see more

Sunny side up Cheek by jowl may be all very well for some, but for many of us, privacy’s the thing. How to find seclusion in a city of seven million? Your answer is Leacroft Avenue – with walls running right the way around, shut the doors and leave the rest of the world far behind. This home has the open, relaxed feel of a villa by the sea. Spaces flow effortlessly together, and the decked garden is like an outdoor sitting room. And beyond, the chilled-out vibe extends to Wandsworth itself… whether you’re topping up your tan on the common or working your way down the menu at Michelin-starred Chez Bruce. Chalet girls and boys Your hosts are a family of ski fanatics who spend much of their spare time cutting swathes through the Swiss Alps. She’s a mum to three kids, with a stationery business on the side, while he owns an ad agency in the heart of the West End. Holiday home Here, European touches are everywhere, from the white shutters on the windows to the indoor olive tree. The high-spec kitchen has counter space enough to satisfy the most demanding of chefs. For those who need to work, there’s a slickly designed office, and when you’ve hit send, lie back on the chaise longue and turn the Bose sound system up loud. The living space is open plan with doors opening out onto the decked garden – on hot summer nights your guests will drift between the sofas and the starlight, tantalised by the scent from the enormous barbeque. There are four bedrooms in all. The master is gorgeously comfy, with a super-king sized bed, and a bright ensuite where you’ll find a shower, his and hers sinks and a roll topped bath. There's another large double bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, and up in the eaves a small double room and a twin room up, where Arsenal fans will be delighted to discover a shiny red foosball table. Common currency Caught between Wandsworth and Clapham commons, you’re not short on outdoor space, and you’re only a quick walk from Northcote Road. Here, you can sip your coffee out on the pavement, browse the antique market, or while away an afternoon in the boutiques, and when it comes to dining out, you won’t know where to turn first. Wandsworth Common station is right around the corner, and from there the overland and tube can have you at Green Park in around twenty five minutes. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, breakfast bar, hob (gas), communications/internet, nespresso coffee machine, entertainment.  …see more

Clapham Common is at the end of the road and a pleasant stroll brings you to Clapham Old Town, with its independent shops, fragrant cafés and neighbourhood bistros. Take a seat with your beloved and raise your glass – this is a match made in heaven. Double entendre Your hosts are a devoted twosome: she’s from Paris, an interior designer, while he’s got the best of both sides of the channel. They’ve three children, two of whom are twins, and they’ve made sure there’s something for everyone in their newly-refurbished home. One plus one The sitting room is a gracious space, with high ceilings, original cornicing and sofas shaded in a delicate taupe. Books fill the shelves, both in English and in French, and just behind lies a magenta wall sheltering dining space for eight. There’s a further table in the snazzy kitchen, a wall of glass ensuring that sunlight streams in even on the cloudiest of days. While upstairs you’ve two large bedrooms and fresh, bright bathrooms, where even the basins come in twos. Field trip The thwack of willow on leather, the gentle caress of the morning sun, the satisfying smack of a freshly-spooned sundae. A stay at Dorlcote Road II feels just like a walk in the park. Merely a frisbee’s fling from Wandsworth Common, this is a home as great indoors as it is out. The kitchen is flooded by light from every known angle, while a pinewood floor flows through each chic room like a carpet of autumn leaves. Yes, with a chess set, ping-pong table and a lovely garden on which to sprawl, we might even forgive you for staying in… Sunday league Your hosts think Dorlcote Road might be the friendliest street they’ve ever lived on. He’s a business consultant, she works in charity and they have three sporty kids. If they’re not bunting tennis balls on the common, you’ll find them at the theatre or in one of many tasty local restaurants. Bench mark Wandsworth Common is so close you might see the players in their cricket whites as you sip your morning coffee. When they break for lunch, so can you by swapping the elegant drawing room for the spectacular kitchen. Skylights see to it that every last corner gleams, from a chic sitting room to a dining area with space for six. You’ve an AGA cooker and all sorts of space to cook up something delicious. Of course, you could just pad over the pinewood floor and throw open the doors to the garden. Spacious and serene, you’ve a ping-pong table and a truly inviting sprawl of lawn. The master bedroom has a superb view across the common, an impeccable ensuite and a custom-made super king size bed. The double is all daylight and classic furniture, while the twin boys’ room has some funky photo wallpaper. You’ve also a bathroom, a shower room and an attic bedroom with a double, a single and lots of loveable toys and books. Parks and recreation You’re rather spoilt for green spaces around here, whether it’s a pond-side picnic in Wandsworth Common or a summery stroll through its Clapham counterpart. If you like your menus with Michelin stars, we suggest you try Chez Bruce, or, take your pick of the cafes, eateries and shops along nearby Northcote Road. From the blossom of Wandsworth Common to the bustle of Oxford Circus will take you under half an hour. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, hob (electric), off-road parking, communications/internet, entertainment.  …see more

Country life Just over a mile south of the river lies Clapham, a suburban idyll made up of row upon row of terraced houses surrounded by vast areas of green space. But don’t go thinking you’re in the sticks – this village is famed for its cafés, restaurants and shops. And Honeybrook Road is within easy walking distance of all of it. Classically decorated yet kid-friendly and fun, this is the family home of your dreams. Early in the morning, well-heeled commuters sally forth from Clapham to turn the wheels of capitalism. But yummy mummies – and you – can take your time. To the manor born Originally from the countryside, your hosts revel in this glory of suburbia. He works in the City, while she is a full-time mum to their two children. When they’re not serving lunch for eight in their private garden, they can be found romping with the kids in the playroom or tossing a ball around at the nearby tennis courts. Golden Age When it comes to interior design, no-one could accuse our hosts of not marrying form with function. All antique wood, creams and olives, this is a home that’s grand when it needs to be, yet comfortable and easy at the same time. Sink down on the plump sofa in the drawing-room and look up at the extraordinary canopied curtain above. Open the patio doors and send the kids down the garden to play in the (fully-wired) playhouse, while you cook up a storm in the kitchen – there are acres of counter space and not one but two dishwashers. And when it’s time for bed, thrill your grown-up girl with her very sophisticated bedroom (no Barbie pinks here!). And fold your little man into the racing car bed and zoom him off for sleep. Pastoral pleasures From the Michelin-starred Chez Bruce to the smart market stalls and child-friendly shops of nearby Northcote Road, Clapham is packed with things to see and do. Both Wandsworth and Clapham Commons are a short toddle away. And when you decide to head into the city, you’re only twenty minutes from the centre of town by tube. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, breakfast bar, hob (gas), communications/internet, ipod dock, entertainment.  …see more

Toy story With its three storeys of fancy, this five bedroom, three bathroom home is a family dream. It has just the right balance of grown-up sophistication and childlike whimsy to keep young and old entertained all day, and outside, the surrounding area is equally accommodating, with sports clubs, green spaces and shopping boutiques a-plenty. Take a Thames-side walk (ice creams a must) then return to Crieff Road to catch the last of the sun in the large paved garden. Pull up a pew at the garden table and watch the liveliest ones giggle away on the trampoline. Girl next door Your hosts are busy parents to three young ladies. She works at the prep school across the road, and they all enjoy exploring the playgrounds of Wandsworth Common, which is right on Crieff Road’s doorstep. When they’re not tending to a bouncing brood they’re holidaying on the beaches of Cornwall, or visiting relatives in Scotland. Wendy house Step into the sitting room, where light pours in through an enormous bay window, and curl up on one of the snuggly sofas. Slide through the dining room with its cheerful wall art – a baby giraffe and a giant chilli pepper take pride of place. Warm yourself before the marble fire and imagine the dinner parties you might host around the six seater dining table. Over in the country style kitchen a central island with bar stools gives a sociable vibe, and shiny chrome appliances make cooking for a family a cinch. The irresistibly girlish play room next door will still the pitter patter of tiny feet a while. Heading upstairs, a crisp white double room feels a lot more grown up, and a huge master bedroom provides a little slice of escapism, with antique furniture and a grand ensuite. Next door you’ll find a children’s bunk bedroom, pretty-in-pink. Upstairs further in the beautifully-finished loft conversion there’s another minimal yet luxurious double, a mosaic bathroom, and a girly, single room with butterfly print wallpaper. Never Never Land Upscale yet down-to-earth, Wandsworth is a friend of the family. Head to the Battersea Arts Centre and catch a stage show, or marvel at the exquisite ceramics in the famous De Morgan Centre. Go bowling on the Common next door, or venture further a-field and reach Oxford Circus in 30 minutes via the nearby Wandsworth Town railway station. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, hob (gas), communications/internet, entertainment.  …see more

Buffalo stance Just beyond the sprawling grasslands of Clapham Common, a home grazes away from the herd. You might spot a cheetah prowling the paintings, a zebra or two camouflaged underfoot, but the call of the wild sounds as smooth as the savannah breeze. Its African artefacts, calming colours and tropical textiles would make any king of the jungle purr with pride, while playful cubs will love a caper around the garden. Spend an afternoon hunting for fashions in Clapham Old Town, before joining the wildcats in their watering holes after dark. Yes, even a wildebeest might be inclined to stampede that little bit slower round here… Circle of life Your hosts are in love with all things Africa, as you might notice from their exotically-furnished home. He owns a furniture company, and they have three young children. The lion sleeps tonight Among a leafy row of Victorian houses, entering Winsham Grove is akin to stepping onto the Serengeti plains. Cheetahs and zebras frolic on the artwork-hung walls of the sitting room, while big cats definitely had a paw in the striped and spotted designs of cushion covers and a vintage trunk. Pad across the dark wooden floor to find the kitchen, skylit and stylish with its rounded breakfast bar and leather-topped dining table for eight, before letting the little ones loose in the toy-filled garden. Upstairs, you’ve a girly bunk bedroom, as well as a lush bathroom of fluffy white towels. While books, novelties and even a guitar await in the tempting top-floor playroom and double. The master has a king bed, vintage furniture and lots of light, the double is spacious and fluffy, and you’ve another glossy bathroom. Exile on mane street Perched between Clapham Common and the wilds of Wandsworth Common, you won’t be short on places to prowl for picnic spots. Nearby Northcote Road bustles with family shops and stalls, Clapham Old Town is hip with independent boutiques and fine delis, while Chez Bruce’s French and Mediterranean fare comes Michelin-starred. For those who wish to migrate to hunting grounds across river, the tube from Clapham South to Oxford Circus takes less than twenty minutes. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, ipod dock, entertainment, underfloor heating, breakfast bar, hob (gas), communications/internet.  …see more

For the win A hop, skip and jump from Wandsworth Common is a home that’ll have you floating into the sandpit like Bob Beamon. So fresh, so limber is Dault Road that only the most breathless step-by-step analysis will suffice. But don’t assume just track stars can rest their legs and lungs in this sprawling home. From the homely family kitchen to the sitting room’s crackling fireplace, you’ve plenty of quiet sidelines from which to sit and watch. And if the garden is just the venue for your morning yoga, the shops and delis of Wandsworth will be right in your wheelhouse. Changing room Your hosts are a sporting family of four, including two very junior teammates. Together they love to ski the pistes, birdie the greens and swap home for away in New York. Breast the tape Trainers kicked off, you might take half-time at the dining table with a refreshing drink, or let the tennis-white walls replenish your energies. The generously skylit kitchen is sure to sate your appetite, while anyone inclined to either sport or leisure will approve of the cheery sitting room – legs can rest easy atop the plump sofa and a spot of basketball can be enjoyed from the very same position. And should the little ones ever exhaust the toys, and the grown-ups win the contest for bedtime, both teams will leave happy when they see the gently sloping walls of the attic room at the top of the stairs. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, nespresso coffee machine, entertainment, underfloor heating, hob (gas), communications/internet, ipod dock (2).  …see more

Come one come all You know what? Bigger really is better, and never was this more evident than here at Cautley Avenue. This home is ablaze with energy and creativity, its rooms by turns playful, colourful, elegant and grand. There’s a multitude of living spaces, a big garden and even a grand piano for an after-dinner sing-along. And not only have you all the rooms you need, your location’s wonderful, too. Restless legs can race around nearby Clapham Common, while those with pocket money to spend will have a ball in the cute independent shops of Clapham Old Town. It’s easy to forget that the West End is only a tube ride away. Crowd control Your hostess is an interior designer, and she and your host have six children. They spent two years completely renovating Cautley Avenue – and as if that wasn’t enough to keep them occupied, they also have a home in the countryside, where they go walking with their cuddly black Labrador. Two by two Unlike Cautley Avenue, we’ve a limit on how much we can fit in – but here’s a brief description of all that’s on offer. You’ve three sitting rooms, two upstairs, and one down in the basement. The upper sitting rooms are stylish and comfy, with deep creamy sofas and shelves loaded with books, while down in the basement, you’ve games galore. The country-style kitchen’s vast and beautifully equipped, which is just as well, as the dining table seats twelve. Send the kids to bounce around on the trampoline in the garden while you catch your breath in the master bedroom. The bed’s super kingsized, and the ensuite larger still, with his and hers sinks and a freestanding bath. There are three more bathrooms and five further bedrooms, their décor featuring everything from One Direction to Paddington Bear. Best of all, the supply of books, games and toys is as infinite as the floor space. Day trip When the sun comes out, join the rest of South London on Clapham Common, where you’ll be mingling with romping puppies, swaying toddlers and chatty teens. There’s a real sense of neighbourhood in this part of town, the shops bustle and the many restaurants and cafes are filled with regulars. And if you’re heading into Central London, the tube from Clapham South to Leicester Square takes around twenty five minutes. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, hob (gas), communications/internet, entertainment.  …see more

Beau monde If any nation has mastered the art of living well, it is the French. For why sacrifice style, simply because one has a family? Lindore Road is the perfect case in point. This enormous house is bursting with life and personality – you’ll find books, toys, fairy lights and murals. But this is a home as much for adults as it is kids. The painted floorboards, the cosy textiles and carefully chosen art all belie the influence of a couple who care very much about their surroundings. And you’re so close to Northcote Road that you can almost smell the freshly brewed coffee wafting from the bakeries, their counters bearing some of the finest croissants this side of Boulogne. Café society Your hosts are French, bien sur, he works in the City, while she’s a particularly discerning estate agent. When they’re not out and about on the arts scene in London, they can be found enjoying the good life in France, and sailing their boat around the world. Dans le salon The sitting room of Lindore Road is as elegant as you’d expect, with its pale floor, original iron fireplace and brightly coloured rugs. The large eat-in kitchen features exposed brickwork alongside dining space for six, and full height windows looking out into the patio garden. Chefs will find everything they need, from sharp knives to a coffee machine, and if the weather allows, you may want to take your steaks outside and fire up the barbeque. There are three candy coloured kids’ rooms, two singles and a bunk-bedded twin, all with cute touches that the little ones will love. While they’re busy with your hosts’ toys, you’ve the choice between the whisper-quiet attic double, and the stately master suite, with a kingsized bed, and furniture so lavishly pretty it wouldn’t look out of place in a grand chateau. Encore You could spend the whole day drifting up and down Northcote Road, idling in the boutiques and sampling fare from the funky cafes and gastropubs. But do take a walk on Clapham Common, one of the most popular parks south of the river, and when it comes to a night out, it’s hard to beat Clapham Old Town. Or, if it’s the West End you’re after, the journey from Clapham Junction to Oxford Circus takes a little over twenty minutes. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, entertainment, tumble dryer (2), washing machine (2), child's highchair, hob (gas), communications/internet.  …see more

Meadowlands Up a flagstone path, sunlight dancing off its ivied bricks, sits Inner Park Road. Now and then, the dappled shadow of birds will cross its lawns, a soft wind whisper among the treetops. Only this isn’t a cottage down a country lane. This is Wimbledon, a quick half hour from central London. Dotted about with trellises and trees, its garden couldn’t be bigger or lovelier, and inside you’ve a fabulous family home. Traditional English taste flowers everywhere you turn, from the mannerly sitting room to a sweetly rustic kitchen. Yes, with the park life and cute cafes of Wimbledon Village nearby, you’ll be singing like a lark. Rural life Since moving in twenty years ago, your hosts have given their home a spritely refurb – turning the kitchen and dining areas into one excellent living space. Their children may have flown the nest, but Inner Park Road keeps all the comfort and warmth of a family home. Farmstead Breathe deep the flowers and freshness in the front garden, before drifting into the graceful sitting room. You’ve period armchairs and plump sofas on which to sprawl for a spell, before padding on to the large and lovely dining room. Not one but two dining tables are to be found, as well as a squashy sofa, warming fireplace and kitchen tinted a tasty mint green. When the sun’s out, prepare a cooling drink, throw open the doors and take a deep draught in the back garden. With its flowerbeds, sprawling lawn and table and chairs, you’ll want to linger until the shadows lengthen. Upstairs, you’ll find an immaculate bathroom and the bedrooms. The double is quaintly elegant, decked out in white and lined with books, while Arnie directs his stare from the wall of the king bedroom. You’ve another double, its walls coloured a fresh pink and furniture sweetly antique. The master is handsome and large, with its own dressing room and marbled ensuite. You’ve also the snuggest TV room imaginable. Harvest moon If you happen to outgrow that huge garden, both Wimbledon Park and the sprawling Wimbledon Common lie close at hand. Take a rural stroll to the Wimbledon Windmill, or look in on Southside House, a seventeenth century Dutch-Baroque mansion stuffed with artwork. And even if the championships aren’t on, the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum is well worth a mosey. The tube from Southfields to Green Park takes under half an hour. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, entertainment, underfloor heating, off-road parking, hob (electric), communications/internet, hob (induction).  …see more

Big game If the thought of city streets leaves you longing for savannah and sky, then bring your herd to West Hill Road. A tall terraced townhouse, alive with light and colour, you’ve space to roam free, and you’re surrounded by a carnival of animals. Antelopes, a charging rhino, elephants galore… and if your cubs are thrilling for a chase, send them out into the enormous garden, where they can tumble around on the sunken trampoline, and swarm across the climbing frame. You’re not far from the river, with its fantastic watering holes, and there’s no need to scavenge, for you’re surrounded by cafes and restaurants. And should you wish to extend your territory, you’ll find that the centre of town is surprisingly close at hand. Wild things Your hosts are a young family who came to West Hill Road a year ago. Athletic, energetic and fearless, they like sport, the more extreme the better. They honeymooned in South Africa, and those magical few weeks have left them longing to return. Hear me roar The kitchen’s skylights and full-height patio doors allow for a spot of lapping sun even when the air temperature is distinctly sub-Saharan, and those garden views mean you can keep an eye on the little ones from your place at the table. There’s a more formal dining room, too, along with an elegant sitting room, a games room and an adorable playroom. All five bedrooms are full of character, and you’ll love the lions that gaze down from the sage walls of the quietly opulent master suite. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, oven (2), entertainment, hob (gas), child's highchair, underfloor heating, off-road parking, communications/internet, nespresso coffee machine.  …see more

New Arcadia If you’re coming to London, but cannot quite bear the thought of a life without the sweet air of field and meadow, then fear not – the solution lies in Chapman Square. A private development with twenty-four hour security, inside, you’ll discover a traditional London townhouse – the twist being that the building itself is almost brand new. So, you’ve antiques and landscapes in gilded frames, but without any of the draughts and gurgling pipes that so often come hand in hand with venerability. And at the end of the road lies Wimbledon Common. You’ll see rabbits, wild deer and maybe, if you’re very lucky, even the odd Womble… Life’s winners Your hostess is a successful film producer. She’s from Kensington, while her partner is from Venezuela. They and their grown-up children adore the arts. When they’re not treading the red carpet and perusing galleries, they’re galloping around the common. On the up Chapman Square is set across six floors, and there’s a great dignity to its plush, snug rooms. The modern basement kitchen opens out onto the mature patio garden, and there’s dining space both outside and in. Up on the ground floor, the sitting room manages to be both cosy and just a little bit grand, with oil paintings and squishy sofas. Or, if you desire privacy to work, you’ll find it in a quiet office filled with antiques. All three further bedrooms are gorgeously comfortable – in particular, the master suite, with its kingsized bed enfolded within calm, sage-green walls. Agrarian economy Explore the backstreets around Chapman Square to discover some sweet neighbourhood shops and restaurants, or, head a little further afield up towards Putney for ancient pubs and colourful independent boutiques. A half-hour stroll along the Common brings you to Wimbledon Village, and here you can shop for everything from cashmere to freshly baked croissants. And when you’re ready for Zone One, the tube from Southfields to Oxford Circus takes a little over thirty minutes. Additional amenities include: concierge, piano, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, underfloor heating, hob (gas), communications/internet, entertainment.  …see more

New age All mature trees and Victorian terraces, Clapham’s streets hum quietly with history. But Crescent Lane is a touch different. Behind its decorative details and slatted shutters, this period home is smartly contemporary. There’s a clarity and grace to each clean line – smooth carpets and shades of soft grey frame the kitchen’s shining counters, and the sitting room’s paired armchairs. And should you wish to extend your tastes beyond the oriental-inspired sculptures, and the space-age neon angel wings, you’ll find every palate catered for in Clapham’s celebrated restaurants. Years young Your hosts have lived in Clapham for years, and have delighted in the latter-day arrival of its flourishing food and bar scene. They both work in luxury retail – from watches to jewellery to fashion – and have two young children. Past progressive If the tall ceilings and dado rails nod towards tradition, the contemporary artworks and two-tone walls are a more modern gesture. The bathrooms are smoothly tiled and spa-like, while folding glass doors bring the bright kitchen and well-nurtured garden together. And from Asian spears to James Bond stills, there’s an abundance of curiosity upstairs, too. Ascend to the master bedroom with its rich-wood furnishings and studded headboard, or adventure to the colourful children’s rooms, made all the brighter by animal figures and iconic pop art. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, ipod dock, entertainment, child's highchair (2), underfloor heating, communications/internet, hob (induction).  …see more

À la mode There’s no need to nip across la Manche for your French fancy. With its style and flair, beauty and bibelots, Brussels Road will have anyone jumping for joie de vivre. The décor couldn’t be more vieux jeu, all flea market finds and charmingly chipped furniture, while there’s more than a soupçon of sunshine in the rustic kitchen. You’ve a sweetly picturesque garden where, once that Beaujolais is sipped, you can spin up a spiral staircase straight into the luxurious master bedroom. With both Wandsworth and Clapham to call on too, this is one home whose loveliness can’t be lost in translation. Savour faire Your hosts are devout Francophiles, so much so that their daughters attend French schools and are fluent in the tongue! A distinctly stylish couple, she is a beauty PR, while he works in online marketing. Tour de force For Gallic glamour, this home is rather hard to beat. The kitchen has a country feel, with daylight playing across its wooden floor and white worktops. You’ve a dining table for four, as well as some jazzy barstools, jaunty lampshades and a colourful couch over in the playroom. After dinner, sip a digestif in the garden, or slip downstairs to the sitting room. Here, French antiques, a fireplace and slouchy sofa make a chic (and cosy) combination. You’ve also an office of artwork and photographs, as well as a quaint double bedroom and stylish ensuite. Upstairs awaits the master bedroom: bright, airy and full of floral flourishes. The ensuite lies behind double doors, with its freestanding bath and a romantic spiral staircase which brings you and your beau back to the garden. You’ve two children’s bedrooms, both a-brim with toys, as well as a sweet single and another shiny bright bathroom, stocked with our fluffy towels. Bon voyage On sunny days, le tout Clapham heads for the Common, one of south London’s loveliest picnicking spots. You can see a show at the Clapham Grand, or shop on Lavender Hill, one of those many corners of the capital immortalised by film. Turn the other way for Northcote Road market or pop across the river to the cafes and fancy boutiques of Fulham. You can be in Oxford Circus in just over twenty minutes from Clapham Junction. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, hob (electric), hob (gas), communications/internet, nespresso coffee machine, entertainment.  …see more

The generation game With the buzz of a great city, and the sweetness of a much-loved village, it’s a small wonder that families flock to Clapham. Little ones frolic on the Common while teens sort through the rails of the independent boutiques. And it’s here, just steps away from the green grass, that you’ll find Marjorie Grove, a Victorian home renovated to stateside standards, speckled with touches of the English countryside. Charming, colourful and heaps of fun – this is what family life is all about. Young hearts run free Your hosts are a lively couple with three small boys. A full-time mom from across the pond, she and your financier host spend their spare time plunging down the slopes on snowboards and skis. She spent many years as a photographer and it’s her vision that created this happy home. Play time The sophistication of the sitting room’s iron fireplace and Barcelona chair has been cut with a dash of pure joy – a rocking horse stands guard by the garden doors, and the coffee table is handy both for magazines and a game of foosball. The kitchen’s white work surfaces seem to go on forever, and Astroturf in the back garden means unhampered outdoor frolicking, come rain come shine. Upstairs, the children’s bedrooms are loaded with books, toys, and even a small drum kit, and, with three windows, French shutters and a colour palette of spring flowers, the master suite has the feel of a quaint country house. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, hob (gas), communications/internet, nespresso coffee machine, entertainment.  …see more

Trending Fashion isn’t only about rocking the latest It bag or sporting a statement knit from the ads in the glossies. It’s also about Ebner Street. For this is a home where style is a staple, where the walls are outfitted in modern artwork and each room dazzles with dapperness. The dressing room would suit a supermodel – and you might feel like one as you strike a pose on its zebra-hide rug. A patio garden and roof terrace are perfect for those fash pack parties, and whether it’s broody Battersea or chic Chelsea and Fulham, you won’t be short on catwalks. Model planes Your host is a real estate buyer for Abercrombie & Fitch, whose jet-set lifestyle takes him around Europe and the Middle East. His next stop is Russia. When home, you’ll find him in local cafes, soaking up the area’s genuine community spirit. His hobbies include racing historic cars and taking part in charity bike rides. What’s hot This home is dressed to impress, but certainly hasn’t eschewed comfort for style. The sitting room’s sofas are devilishly deep, the chic cream carpet marshmallow-soft. Spacious and brilliantly bright throughout, you can pluck a book from the shelves or check out the vibrant prints as you sip a flute of fizz. Silver car statues and racing posters speak of your host’s keen interest in motorsport, while anyone would be interested in the kitchen, modern, sleek and well-equipped. Six can dine at the cool wooden table, before spilling onto the patio’s flagstones for a digestif. The master bedroom is dapperly touched with artwork and dusky furniture around its sleigh bed, while the dressing room is accessorised with zebra-hide rug and portraits of fashion icons. The bathroom is impeccably styled and stocked with our White Company goodies. The attic double is a vision in white, and you’ve a fabulous roof terrace for those moonlit nightcaps. Diffusion range You’re in a characterful corner of town, with Wandsworth’s cute cafes, vintage stores and eateries just round the corner. If green is your colour, both Battersea Park and Wandsworth Common make marvellous picnicking spots, or you can find some fresh cuisine at Northcote Road Market. Across the river, Fulham is all about the fashion, and Chelsea’s King’s Road is studded with enviable boutiques. The tube from East Putney to Oxford Circus takes around half an hour. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, underfloor heating, hob (gas), communications/internet, entertainment.  …see more

Home, James Coach houses were a common sight in horse-drawn London, when ladies would betake themselves to the park, there to ride about and admire each other’s phaetons. The carriage may have taken its leave of Altenburg Gardens, but the elegance and class lingers on. A cosy coach house just a canter from the Common, this home makes the sweetest crash pad. Its ivied courtyard is quaint and cheerful, its sitting room gorgeously furnished, while bedroom skylights let you stargaze yourself to slumber. Round the corner you’ll find the shops and eateries of Lavender Hill, and handy Clapham Junction station. No need to hail a cab… Coachman An American couple, your hosts mainly live in Bath. He is a successful photographer who once worked for Private Eye, she a happily retired schoolteacher. Altenburg Gardens is their pied-à-terre when calling on their two grown-up daughters. High society You can still imagine the carriages riding gallantly along this beautiful Victorian street. Open the front door, step through the bright hallway and into the vivacious sitting room. Mirrors and artwork adorn the walls, light streams through patio doors and an ornate coffee table stands upon a Persian rug. Nestle deeply into a sofa, or steal out into the flowery courtyard. Pint-sized yet picturesque, you’ve a garden table and chairs as well as a barbecue for those dinner parties. A stylish dining table perches in a nook of the sitting room, under spotlights and jazzy feature wallpaper, while round the corner you’ll find the kitchen. Hop upstairs for the master bedroom. Elegant in white and brightly lit through tall skylights, all is sweetly serene. Plump cushions rest upon its king bed, while next door you’ve a sumptuous ensuite bathroom, stocked with the fluffiest of white towels. Cart before the horse The rolling turf of Clapham Common is to be discovered just at the end of your road, or you can stroll the other way for the shops and eateries flanking Lavender Hill. Nose around Northcote Road Market for vintage clothes and the freshest vegetables, dine in style at Chez Bruce or just sweep straight into town. The tube from Clapham Common to Oxford Circus takes a little over fifteen minutes. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, hob (gas), entertainment, communications/internet, washer / dryer.  …see more

Catch the bouquet Lavender’s blue, dilly dilly, but there are also pearls, crimsons and misty greys at Lavender Gardens – its lofty rooms offering a moment of stillness amidst London’s urban chaos. Lift your gaze to the original ceiling roses, or look upon the hold iron fireplaces, whisper-pale carpets and dainty ornaments from the comfort of the sitting room’s sofa. And you only need to stretch a little further for Clapham Common’s green space – a stone’s throw away from your front door, with glitzy Chelsea just across the river. Potted history Your hosts have lived in Lavender Gardens for fifteen years, and they wouldn’t be anywhere else. By day they tend to their lawn and sun themselves on the common, and come nightfall, they’re regulars on Battersea’s eclectic restaurant scene. Their current hot spot? The ultra-hip Cornish Tiger. Flowerbed dreaming With two walls of glass facing out into the garden, you’ll feel as though you’re dining al fresco whatever the weather. But when the sun does shine, a swift slide of the doors and you can be outside firing up the BBQ, or, sunbathing on the well-kept lawn. And, taking inspiration from its Victorian roots, you’ll find plenty of flora inside too – watercolour irises hang prettily in the master bedroom, while traditional bouquets brighten the living room’s lampshade and cushions. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, breakfast bar, hob (gas), communications/internet, ipod dock, entertainment.  …see more

Rise and shine On a quiet street, with Clapham Common just a stone’s throw away, this comfy, cosy house is the place to relax, potter, and (most especially) bake. The kitchen’s a dream for amateur breadmakers, kitted out with all the equipment you could possibly need. If you tire of kneading and proving and waiting for your bread to rise, get your fix at one of the lovely cafes and restaurants of Clapham, just a gentle stroll away. Prove for 35 years Your hosts are a married couple with three grown-up sons and this has been their home for three and a half decades. She is a housekeeper and a keen baker, and he owns a cleaning business. They are inexplicably beguiled by pigs – something you’ll vouch for when you see the kitchen. A piece of cake The living is easy in this welcoming, much-loved family home. Neutrally decorated, there’s nothing to interrupt the calm, gentle look and feel. The walls are hung with artwork, much of it produced by the hosts’ artist son. And upstairs you’ll find three cool-white, soothing double bedrooms. Indulge your inner baker in the well-equipped open-plan kitchen, and take your yummy-smelling creations through patio doors out to the garden. And there’ll be no shortage of things to do, with local shops, cafes, restaurants and transport links only a short stroll. A nice British brew The local area, centred around Lavender Hill, is a delightfully British blend of antiques shops, restaurants and pubs. Take your freshly baked bread and cakes out to Clapham Common for a picnic and make the locals envious. And if you need to get into town, you can be in the West End in only 20 minutes or so by train. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, underfloor heating, breakfast bar, hob (gas), communications/internet, entertainment.  …see more

Well-rounded A melting pot of periods long-passed, Taybridge Road’s Victorian roots are complemented with Bergére chairs harking to colonial France, geometric Persian rugs, and bookshelves holding leather-bound classics between Ancient Egyptian bookends. But for its diverse influences, this home’s aesthetic is united by a seamless grandeur running through each room, all gilt edges and intricate curlicues. For further cultural pursuits, head to Clapham Common to explore the bazaar-style boutiques of Lavender Hill. Or simply stay at home and set the ivory keys alive on the upright piano. Finer things Your hosts are financiers who live here with their four children. In between work they like to travel to the States or their second home in Switzerland. The formalities The drawing room is lit by a pendant chandelier in shimmering crystal, reflected by the mirror in its gold-scrolled frame. A low white Ottoman foots the antique chairs, while shelves set into the wall present a cornucopia of framed decorative texts in overflowing lines of Arabic script. The kitchen's simplicity is offset by the adjacent glass-fronted cabinet of family silver – pour a mint tea in a Moroccan glass and enjoy it at the patio's corner sofa, before retiring to the palatial proportions of the master bedroom. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, underfloor heating, hob (gas), communications/internet, ipod dock, entertainment.  …see more

Rolling back the years Longbeach Road spans the ages. For adults there’s a muted colour palette of greys, creams and blues, with stained glass and period fireplaces framing a melange of vintage and contemporary furniture. And for children? There are games, books and space to play both inside and out, where an astroturfed lawn makes for all-weather roaming. When the sun shines, Clapham Common’s green and lido are just a street away. Or join the crowds in nearby Lavender Hill’s independent shops and restaurants. Kith and kin Your hosts are a family of four who’ve filled Longbeach Road with precious treasures. For the grown-ups, that means leather-bound books and dazzling oil paintings. And for the little ones, it’s a cornucopia of cuddly toys. Forever home There’s a rustic atmosphere to the eat-in kitchen – its farmhouse table is brighter for the skylights above, and there’s a view across the scrubbed oak countertop out into the garden. The sitting room is relaxed: French shutters shade soft sofas and there are two designated areas – one for conversation, and one for entertainment. Up the stairs you’ll discover two single bedrooms with their original fireplaces, while at the top of the house is a pair of tranquil doubles, their floors topped with delicate furnishings. Additional amenities include: concierge, concierge service, 24 hour on call maintenance, ipod dock, entertainment, child's highchair, breakfast bar, hob (gas), communications/internet.  …see more
