Courthaye Cottage
About the home
Courthaye cottage is centrally heated and has been furnished and decorated to a high standard, personally maintained by the owners and kept spotlessly clean.
Open all year, Sidmouth’s mild climate makes the cottage an ideal choice both for Summer holidays and for Winter and Autumn breaks.
Since opening in April 2000, all our guests have been surprised and delighted with the size and luxury of the accommodation. In fact, one of our guests has written in the visitors’ book This was our first stay at Courthaye Cottage and it exceeded all our expectations. We were very impressed by the website which, for a change these days, didn’t disappoint us! This really is an idyllic place to stay and their description as “Luxury accommodation” is accurate!
There were 4 of us and we found everything we needed in the cottage and it was all spotlessly clean and VERY comfortable. Even if the weather is not too good the cottages are great to just “live in” and enjoy these beautiful surroundings.
It really is just a minute or two stroll into both the town and seafront and there are some lovely restaurants, all easily walkable.
For a week or two to relax and enjoy the seaside I cannot think of anywhere in the UK which can top this.

BookThe West Country / Devon region
Rural idyll in all its many varieties from the sheep crossing the road on Dartmoor to the cricketers on the village green. The coast is good too. From the wide swathes of beach in north Devon to the sheltered coves in the south, with the big open skies over Dartmoor in between, there are plenty of pieces of Devon to fall in love with.
Holidays in Devon range from surfing havens on the north coast, through dog friendly countryside retreats, to south Devon cottage holidays on the seafront. From Lynton and Lynmouth in North Devon, through Dartmoor to Salcombe and Start Point on the English channel, Devon is England’s only county with two coastlines. With the mass of rural landscape between, Devon is the fourth largest English county.
The north coast is exposed to the Celtic sea with surfing beaches at Woolacombe, Saunton and Westward Ho!, and a self catering holiday cottage in Devon has the best of everything. With seaside resorts for deck chairs and icecreams, high moorland for hiking and horizon views, valleys of lush greenery, cities such as Plymouth for shopping, and rural villages for quaint customs, Devon has it all.
East Devon covers an approximately triangular area from Axminster in the east to Cullompton in the north. It then follows the M5 west down to Exeter and the seashore back east to Axminster. Within this triangle are the towns of Honiton, Sidmouth, Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Ottery St Mary, Seaton and Colyton as well as miles of wonderful coastline and acres of magnificent countryside.
The county receives warm summers with occasional hot spells and cool rainy periods. Winters are generally mild and the county often experiences some of the mildest winters in the world.
The Sidmouth area
Sidmouth’s attraction lies not only in the unspoilt and less commercialised town but also in the natural beauty of the coastline, countryside and the gardens which more than once have earned it the ‘Britain in Bloom’ award.
Each year in August‚ Sidmouth hosts the celebrated Folk Festival Week‚ when we see vibrant colour and listen to music from around the world. Laughter and smiles are to be seen everywhere.
Beautiful gardens and leisurely walks‚ Regency history and fine hotels‚ clean beaches and friendly shops. it’s all here in this lovely seaside town that nestles beneath majestic red cliffs and the green hills of the glorious Sid Valley. The area is one of Britain’s loveliest, for relaxing in, walking around the town, or touring more extensively in the West Country.
In December 2001, the East Devon and Dorset coastline was granted World Heritage Site status. Sidmouth is now a major gateway to the Site. UNESCO called the Jurassic Coast, a 95-mile stretch of coast from Exmouth to Swanage, an outstanding example, representing a major stage of earth’s history and record of life.

The accommodation was superb. Plenty of space and extremely well equipped. The Corthaye cottage was a gem and centrally located within easy walking distance of all of Sidmouth. Geoffrey and Selwyn could not have been more helpful. |

We stayed in Courthaye cottage for one week in March 2013, and were very impressed with the high standard of accommodation. It is spotlessly clean, well equipped and has plenty of space to relax in comfort. Selwyn and Geoffrey are very friendly and approachable, and ensure that the cottages are provided with a welcome pack of tea, coffee, bread, milk etc. Toiletries are provided in the bathrooms. Over the years, we have stayed in four of the five cottages, and they are all definitely first class accommodation, and we would highly recommend them to anyone. |

All I can say was that it was excellent. From where it is situated to the accomodation itself, I couldn't fault it. Considering the person I went with did not want to go on holiday due to the time of year and at the end of the holiday said "I want to stay another week" really says it all. It is worth taking a look. But don't take my word for it. Will consider booking again. |
