Liverpool has to be one of the most beautiful cities in Britain, with diverse architecture ranging from ultra modern museums and shopping centres nestled right next to neoclassical structures and surrounded by sturdy Victorian Dock warehouses that have been beautifully restored. St George's Hall, Liverpool Museum, the Walker Art Gallery and the Central Library would not be out of place in Moscow or Leningrad! the Anglican, one of the biggest cathedrals in the world and the Catholic Metropolitan one of the most quirky, size each other up at either end of Hope Street. Speke Hall by the airport is Tudor, almost 500 years old and still standing after being beautifully restored in Victorian times! The first railway track ever, started in Liverpool and ended in Manchester, changing the world forever. Stevenson's Rocket was trialled just 1 mile from the apartment. Did you know there are a series of tunnels that go nowhere but burrow beneath the streets of Liverpool, miles long and built by Williamson (The King of Edge Hill) to keep the veterans of the Napolionic Wars, employed? "Williamson, the King of Edge Hill, said, 'Pick up your spades and no slopin'.Dig me a tunnel to the nearest pub, try "The Legs," they're usually open!" It isn't just architecture, but clubs, pubs, restaurants, theatres, music and a sense of humour among the population that is unrivalled, despite the recession! Liverpool boasts more parkland than any other city outside London. Parks, a safari park, golf courses galore, world class football. It's a great place to live and as one of the safest cities in the world, it's a terrific place to visit!!
