The Dumfries and Galloway region

Dumfries and Galloway is full of places of historical interest - castles, museums, monuments - too many to take in on one visit. It has a mild climate and you might even come across a palm tree. There is a host of outdoor activities to participate in from mountain-biking to diving.

Kirkcudbright

Kirkcudbright is now known as the Artists' Town due to the fact that artists have been coming here for years to take advantage of the unique light they experience in and around the town. There are many galleries and exhibitions to be enjoyed not to mention craft -fairs and open studio events. There are facilities for all the family including a swimming pool, fitness trail, golf course, driving range and many more. Throughout the summer tourists can enjoy the 'Summer Festivities' which include historical walks and Scottish Nights and at the end of season there is the tattoo which attracts thousands of visitors.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review after your short break. The summer weeks do get booked up quite quickly and we generally do short breaks from Nov. to March only but occasionally we accept them in summer. Keep an eye on the News and Offers page of the Boathouse website for details.

We very much appreciate your very generous review. Glad to hear you enjoyed your autumn break. October is a lovely month to be at the Boathouse as you can still sit out on the jetty and view the autumn colours at their best. And if you are unlucky enough to get some rain, there's plenty of room to spread out inside and enjoy the storm!
