The Edinburgh / Lothians / Edinburgh/Midlothian region

Covering about eighteen hundred square miles, the Scottish Borders stretches from the rolling hills and moorland in the west, through gentler valleys to the high agricultural plains of the east, and on to the rocky Berwickshire coastline with its secluded coves and picturesque fishing villages.
In the bright spring months, fresh new growth fills the valleys and forests of the Scottish Borders. Enjoy time to spare with the lure of lighter longer summer days or relax in more mellow shades of autumn when mauves and purples tint the moors. Crunch through the crisp frosts of winter, when early morning mist floats over the lowlands, and the snow capped hills sparkle in the distance. Land and sea, hills and moorland all sit happily side by side. Rivers and paths wind their way through untouched natural beauty whilst the more gentle pace of life subtly relaxes and revives you. Seasonal changes await to delight, every day at every turn.

Guestbook for TOFTCOMBS MANSION HOUSE
Exceeded our expectations -
"Toftcombs house COMPLETELY exceeded our expectations which were already very high. This was a surprise trip for my fathers 70th birthday and I strongly recommend anyone having a family re-union to book right away. The house has everything you need for a perfect hide-away......TV/DVD room, music room upstairs, fantastic full size snooker room, beautiful lounge with cd player for relaxing and with an open fire or stove in almost every room which really makes you feel at home!!!! The house is full of so many surprises, which will take some time to discover. Sara, the housekeeper was fantastic, and made us feel like old friends within minutes of arriving. The village of Biggar is within 10-15 mins walk and has several wonderful independant shops selling some fantastic gifts etc. Also every type of store is represented - take-away, restaurant, bar, grocery, butcher etc etc. Our family's time at Toftcombs will be talked about fondly for a very long time and I strongly urge anyone looking for a family get-away to get booking!!!" - Alan Norrie
The House was incredible
"The house was incredible and everyone there really loved lounging around in the various rooms and playing snooker (in which I won 3 out of 3 and I hadn't played for about 10 years so I was particularly happy). Everything was immaculately clean and there was plenty of room for everyone the Master suite that my brother had was incredible."
Guest Review .
The house completely exceeded our expectations in terms of both size (inside and out) and the quality of the decor and furnishings. Our jaws dropped when we stepped into the kitchen and then into each room. And what views! The gallery, the floors - amazing. The pictures on the internet just don't do the inside justice. We were also very taken with how the house felt like a home. You've taken such care to keep it looking like a home, with all your amazing pictures and niknaks and beautiful cushions, nice towels and toiletries and having Sky and a DVD was great too. 'Homely' is something we have rarely found in a rental property - and we have been to loads over the years. Thank you so much for the work that has gone into it. It was quite expensive compared to other places we have rented but I can see why!" "Also it was great for the dogs!!!" "All in all a wonderful house, wonderful location, wonderful holiday."
Guests Review
And that brings me to Isaac. ( THE BUTLER ) who really did help make the weekend, his manners were impeccable and the service we got from him from the moment we arrived until we left was absolutely spot on. I have never been force fed so much bacon, eggs, blackpudding, haggis, beans and it goes on, in my life. We went to bed fairly late with Isaac still serving us drinks, and woke up to a clean house and the smell of breakfast and coffee. He was always suitably dressed, with a smile on his face and helped out with anything we needed, a thoroughly nice chap and great at his job." "The caterers were excellent and produced very good food with us barely noticing they had even arrived."

"We rented Toftcombs for a long weekend for our wedding - our whole family stayed in the house Scottish and American relatives all had the time of their lives - a big part of this was down to the expectional accommodation - the house is so beautiful and exceeded all our expectations with wonderful decor and everything you will need plus a definite wow factor - this was matched with a very warm welcome from the housekeeper - the owners and staff went out of their way to ensure that our stay was perfect and provided us with support and help for organising the wedding - what can I say Toftcombs made our wedding a truly unforgettable day - I would highly recommend."
