Description

FULLY INCLUSIVE PRICE WITH NO BOOKING FEE.

Moss Eccles Tarn is a cosy Alpine Style log cabin on the private Neaum Crag Estate, just above Skelwith Bridge and 3 miles from Ambleside.

The cabin is set within a picturesque and secluded woodland estate, set on the fell side of Little Loughrigg. The cabin is near the top of the estate, in an elevated and peaceful position, with limited views over the surrounding fells.

Moss Eccles Tarn is in the perfect location if you want to leave the car on the drive, and walk out the front door straight onto a footpath. You can walk from the cabin, straight into the most spectacular scenery in the Lake District with views over Loughrigg Tarn and the Langdale Valley.

Grasmere, Rydal and Ambleside are all within walking distance with many paths over Loughrigg Fell, and Elterwater can be reached with a stroll along the banks of the River Rothay.

In the evening you can walk within 5 minutes to just beyond the top of the estate the top of the estate and watch the sun go down over the Langdale Pikes.

The cabin itself offers well equipped and comfortable self catering accommodation. It has a modern fitted kitchen with an electric fan oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer and microwave; a dining area with table and chairs; and a comfortable lounge with TV/DVD and Wi-Fi connection.

We regularly use the cabin ourselves and therefore hope to have included everything in the cabin we think you would need for a holiday.

At the rear of the cabin is a south/west facing decked area ideal for enjoying the afternoon sun after a day out. There is a BBQ and patio furniture for 4.

The estate also has a free small indoor swimming pool, ideal for children to splash around in. There is also a sauna and a laundrette with dryer, for which there is a small charge.

Full bedding, towels, electricity, heating and WiFi access are provided and are included in the rental cost. There is no additional charge for pets, or booking fee. The advertised price is all that you pay to book your stay!

Please note. From 15 November to 4 January the swimming pool and sauna are closed.

Getting around

The best way to take advantage of the local scenery and area is by foot. The cabin is on a footpath and there are well maintained footpaths around Loughrigg Tarn, and walking routes to Rydal, Chapel Stile, Elterwater, Grasmere and Ambleside, all less than 6 km away. There is an hourly bus at the bottom of the hill at Skelwith Bridge that goes into the Langdale Valley or into Ambleside. From Ambleside there are further bus routes available. A car is advisable if walking is not an option or you wanted to explore further afield.

Interaction with guest

The keys on arrival will be left in a key safe so you can arrive any time after 3pm. I live locally in Windermere and so will be on hand to deal with any problems during your stay.

This lodge was ideal for exploring the lakes. Centrally located with lots of walks from the lodge itself. Inside was comfortable and welcoming with some nice touches from Susan the owner to make it even more so. We wouldn't hesitate to stop here again and hope to do so.

Idea location for walks within the area. Some fabulous waterfalls to be seen. Close to Ambleside, Grassmere and Keswick. Fabulous scenery. A trip to Grassmere to sample the famous gingerbread is well worth a visit.

Owner's reply: Thanks for your lovely review and glad you had a great holiday at Neaum Crag. Susan

“So Peaceful”

Reviewed 8 May 2018

Moss Eccles cabin is situated within woodland on the Neaum Crag site above Skelwith Bridge, near Ambleside. We have been visiting the site for around 15 years and are always delighted by the nature that surrounds the cabins and the local fells. Moss Eccles cabin is in our opinion a superior stay with excellent facilities. The cabin has WiFi which is a big plus for modern interconnected families and the on-site swimming pool a great place for the children to burn off energy. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend a stay here, whether as a family or as someone seeking peacefulness.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your lovely review. Neaum Crag is a place so special that I don't think you can tire of. Glad you had another great holiday and hope to see you back for many years to come.

“Another fantastic holiday”

Returning for the 3rd time we had the most fantastic 2 weeks at Moss Eccles Tarn. It really is a home from home, so well equipped and comfortable, you just settle in straight away. Lovely location on the site, great for going off for walks, you really don't have to take the car out, there is so much on the door step. Kids and dogs loved it, and we got to unwind. So many things to do nearby, we still haven't exhausted the area, so will definitely be back!! Thank you Susan for all your help with the booking too!

Owner's reply: So pleased that you had another great holiday at the cabin, and hope to see you again soon!
