The Court is situated in the small hamlet of Ashen Cross just half a mile from the village of Pelynt (with convenience stores, post office, quirky tea rooms and a thriving village pub) and less than 2 miles from the stunning South Coast of Cornwall.

The beautiful beach at Talland Bay and the quintessential fishing village of Polperro are just a 40 minute walk, with the bustling seaside town of Looe less than 3 miles away - making this the perfect location from which to explore and enjoy this ever popular part of Cornwall. The Monkey Sanctuary (7.5 miles), the thriving commercial seaport and designated area of outstanding beauty of Fowey (just over 7 miles using the Bodinnick ferry crossing), The Eden Project (18 miles), and a host of other activities and attractions are all within easy reach.

But it is the semi-rural setting which makes this holiday destination extra special. As well as having secluded outdoor space, guests are able to relax and recharge in over 3 acres of land which includes two beautiful fresh water lakes. A strategically placed Summer House provides the perfect place to lose yourself in the wild and wonderful world of the natural inhabitants here.

The large lake is well stocked with fish and when you stand on the decking by the summer house the carp, roach, trench and orf, along with our resident ducks Doris and Declan, will all come over to take a look at you. Guests angling for a catch will find the perfect spot to tickle their fisherman's tales - previous guests report they've had some of their best ever fishing days down here. Dogs with energetic owners will find plenty of space to run up on the field.

The Court is one of only two holiday cottages on offer, enjoying complete privacy from each other and the adjacent Barn where the owners live. The cottages have been welcoming guests for over 15 years, and new owners Geoff and Tracy Tyrrell are keen to make the very most of what they have to offer; improvements are being made all the time - the welcome hamper which includes home-baked scones and bread, as well as locally sourced clotted cream, beer and cider, and a generous helping of milk, butter, jam, and other basics is winning everyone's seal of approval. Our guests also enjoy mid-week fresh towels.

The Court is accessed via the property's private court-yard just a few steps up a slight incline from the car park. The property offers ground floor accommodation.

Originally a cow shed and hay store, the property was converted in 1997 and offers spacious, open plan living, kitchen, dining space, and a large bedroom with an en-suite shower over bath. The cottage is furnished to ensure home-from-home comfort, with a wood-burning stove, flat screen TV, and a generous selection of books, DVDs and games to help you relax and enjoy your stay. The kitchen has everything you would expect to find in a modern kitchen with additional luxuries like the Nespresso coffee machine and a dishwasher.

The private garden is accessed by French doors leading out from the living area. A range of seating means you can always find a perfect spot to sit to soak up the day or night. We've added a new Weber BBQ and provide a pack of coals to get you all fired up.

Whilst being fully respectful of your privacy, living on-site means we're always here if you need us.

“Fantastic Holiday !!”

Reviewed 8 May 2017

Absolutely fantastic holiday, a huge thanks to Tracy & Geoff who were the most attentive and friendly hosts I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Everything was thought of from the beautiful home made scones, bread, etc that was in our welcome pack to even a welcome pack for our dog who enjoyed his treats and snuggle blanket. We even got a midweek treat of home made muffins. The grounds were delightful to walk around with the lake, summerhouse and resident crazy duck. Our dog loved to have a run over the field where the sheep were. The place is ideal for exploring Cornwall and just a stones throw from looe and the picturesque Polperro. I could go on and on as it was a fantastic stay. Will definitely be returning.

“Ashen Cross the Court”

Reviewed 1 May 2017

This was our second stay at the court a lovely warm welcome from Tracy & Geoff the standard of the accommodation was the same as the first visit all the goodies that Tracy does are a nice touch for when you arrive cakes also on Wednesday it really feels like home from home even for our dog she loves it especially the treats we will definitely be booking again as we would highly recommend it to anyone

Owner's reply: It was so lovely having you here again, and we're looking forward to welcoming you all again soon xx

“Amazing Place”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2017

We stayed at The Court for 3 nights over New Year and could not have asked for more. Tracey is extremely welcoming and makes you feel like you have known her forever. On arrival we were left an abundance of goodies which included eggs from her own chickens, milk and a couple of bottles of Cornish cider along with homemade bread, Christmas cake and a cream tea with her freshly baked scones. The Court is a cosy one bedroomed cottage with a lovely woodburning stove, it is extremely well kept with everything you would need including dishwasher, iron & Ironing board and hairdryer...it really is a home from home, there is even a drawer full of toiletries 'just in case you have forgotten to bring something'. There is a lovely walk down to the lake where you can feed the ducks and fish with a little sunhouse this has a fridge stocked with alcohol (an honesty box resides there to pay for the triples you might fancy). The cottage is slap bang in the middle of both Looe & Polpero (approx 2 miles to each resort) and we would 100% recommend The Court as a base to stay to explore Cornwall, we will definitely be booking again.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your very kind comments. We absolutely loved having you here and hope to see you again soon xx

“Perfect”

Another lovely stay at the Court .....a welcome pack for us and treats and other essentials for our two cocker spaniels....spotlessly clean, warm and cozy cottage with a safe, gated outside space. Lovely grounds for guests and dogs alike to enjoy in peace and quiet and friendly and welcoming owners (nothing is too much trouble for them),. In easy reach of Polperro and Looe and a good base to explore the rest of Cornwall. We have stayed in many places in our last 20 years of holidaying in Cornwall but this is by far the best and our favourite. We will be back as soon as possible!

Owner's reply: We love having you all here and really look forward to welcoming you back again soon xx

The Court is a beautiful really well appointed one bed cottage with its own private garden plus access to a lovely lake to relax and fields for dog exercise. We stayed for a week and have already booked to come back next year. All of the extras provided by Tracy and Geoff make your stay extra special. The welcome pack, the home made cakes when Tracy has been baking!, fresh eggs etc etc, we were made to feel so welcome and our dog absolutely loved it. The location is really convenient for some stunning walks and blessed nearby with pubs and restaurants serving great good and frequently welcome dogs with a biscuit or treat. Can't wait to go back

Owner's reply: We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay and we're really looking forward to welcoming you back again next year. Thank you xx

Lovely place to stay and explore the beautiful parts of the coast, polperro, Talland Bay, looe, Lansallos, Lanivet cove is a also a lovely walks from the National trust car park. On arriving at the court cottage where we stayed we were greeted by Tracey who was very welcoming, We had a welcome pack with scones & clotted cream jam & a fresh homemade bread loaf to with various selection of teas & a lovely coffee maker with a great selection of pods. Both our dogs also had treats & snuggly blankets. We had our own private patio area with table & chairs & we walked down to the big pond where we were even greeted by the frendly duck whom we called daffy lol. There was a summerhouse with a fridge with selection of drinks which was a honesty bar where you leave payment in a box for owners & very reasonable priced to. Very sad to leave & so we're our dogs as they were relaxed and cosy in the cottage. We will definitely be seeing the Lovely owners again next year as soon as we have checked dates. “We cannot praise this cottage enough”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2016

We arrived on the Saturday and was met by Tracy who was so friendly and welcoming. We were told that if there was anything that we needed that wasn't provided to let her know. Our first impression was definitely a positive one. From home made cream teas and bread waiting for us to the cold beers in the fridge and a selection of different teas and coffee waiting for us, there wasn't anything I could think of that we needed, there was even a selection of toiletries provided in case we had forgotten to bring anything. The cottage itself was absolutely spotless and everything in there was of a very high quality and looked as though it had been bought specifically for that cottage. We where that impressed that on our 2nd day we booked again for next year. My husband (a very keen fisherman) enjoyed the fishing and I enjoyed the the summerhouse with a fridge that was stocked with a variety of cold drinks. The private garden had very comfy and high quality garden furniture. By the end of the week I can honestly say that there wasn't anything that could have been improved upon. In all honesty I can't praise the cottage enough. and can't wait to get back.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so pleased to read how much you enjoyed your holiday with us and we are really looking forward to welcoming you back very soon x
