“Perfect Easter break at ashen cross cottage (owl)”
Myself and my parter and 2 children was greeted with such a warm welcome from the owners Tracy and Geoff when we arrived at owl cottage. The cottage itself was beautiful, Tracy and Geoff have thought of everything to make your stay perfect. There was a welcome hamper made up of fresh bread, eggs and scones ("They were delicious") such a lovely touch. My children was even given a basket of small chocolate eggs as a Easter gift. The land the cottage is set on is beautiful with a couple of fishing lakes and summer houses, My children also loved spending time with the chickens and especially Doris the duck. Over all from start to finish our stay was perfect and we will definitely be returning.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind feedback. We really loved having you all here and can't wait to welcome you back xx
This is our second stay here, last year in the Court this year in the Owl with family. Both cottages are beautifully appointed, warm, welcoming and on top of all that truly dog friendly and in a great location. Tracey and Geoff plus their pets are fantastic hosts. Always on hand if you need them but not intrusive. Already booking again for next year!
Owner's reply: Thank you, honey. We’re so glad you enjoyed another stay with us and chuffed to bits you’re already booked in for next year xx
“Owl Cottage pelynt”
Brilliant holiday, peaceful and relaxing. Home from home comforts but with extras. Home made bread and cakes, local ales to taste and fresh eggs for breakfast all complimentary. Owners Tracy and Geoff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely book again on next trip to Cornwall if available. Very good base to travel and explore other parts of Cornwall which we did everyday.
Owner's reply: It was lovely having you here and really hope we get to welcome you back again soon xx
“Fantastic break, brilliant location with the most idyllic historical villages and beautiful beaches on the door step!”
We arrived to The Owl to be greeted with the warmest welcome possible - nothing was too much trouble at all and the owners made us feel spoilt throughout! The cottage was of an excellent standard with everything we could need and more - including treats and a welcome pack for our little dogs! Waiting for us, was the most delicious home baking - scones and fresh bread with jam and clotted cream! We had such a relaxing week in total comfort - the wood burner for cosy evenings with the Cornish Ale (also waiting for us upon arrival) was lovely. The Talland beach nearby made for the perfect picnic spot as is a mere 3 minute drive away - and with so many beautiful walks and scenery on the doorstep - we could be as spontaneous as we liked! The owners invite you to also to relax and soak up the peaceful surroundings, by their beautiful lake (plenty of fish if you like fishing!) and there is a very well stocked honesty bar down by the lake in the cutest cabin too, so we enjoyed walks around the lake (followed by Dorris the Duck who the children fell in love with - he's very tame) and then a glass of wine, taking in the gorgeous views across the lake and over into surrounding countryside. Tracy (the owner) was very kind enough to let our children go with her on her rounds of feeding their chickens and sheep which they loved! There is a Webber BBQ provided (with a BBQ pack provided in the cottage) which we enjoyed in the garden (very secluded garden space - lovely)! Tracy was amazing - the best host ever - and she even baked us the most amazing cakes too which was such a treat for us all. We felt totally spoilt as I say - and we couldn't have asked for more - we stayed for only one week but we definitely will be coming back and hopefully for longer! A huge thank you to Tracy and Geoff - you made our holiday the best!
Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely feedback. We absolutely loved having you all here and we're looking forward to welcoming you all back again soon xx
“Relaxing holiday. Tranquility all the way.”
Returned to Ashen cross Holiday Cottages. Stayed in the Owl cottage this time which self caters for 4 or more people. Lovely, cosy & spacious & quiet with everything you need to start your weeks holiday. Including fresh scones, jam & cream on arrival plus milk & fresh bread plus dog treats & blankets for our two dogs plus teas of allsorts, which my brother & his wife enjoyed & drank, A coffee machine & lots more that you do not expect on a self catering holiday. Clean towels for all on Sat & on Wednesdays. plus more fresh baked goodies to thanking you. A Lovely quiet garden too with your own loungers, barbeque, table & chairs. Also behind the hosts house there is a large fishing lake with a small secluded self service honesty bar with a well stocked fridge of drinks, which is brill to chill out in & is all contained in a summerhouse overlooking the lake with chairs & settee in, which is brilliant on a sunny day or come rain or shine. The weather for our week was rainy & sunny but we still had a good relaxing week & went to plenty of places Looe, Polperro, St Austel, Mevagissey & St Ives & plenty of nearby walks dodging the rain. Its in a central location & 5 to 10 mins in car from polperro, Looe & talland bay and an hour and 15min drive from St Ives, 45min from Mevagissey an hour from Newquay and other places so brill for exploring. A Very comfortable cottage to chill out & unwind in. Tracey & Geoff are the perfect hosts, Geoff seems to be the quiet one lol whom is there in the background when Tracey isn't. Tracey is Lovely & very accommodating always about if you are in neeed of anything and both hosts are very accommodating & always respectful of everyone's privacy. which is lovely. Thank you & keep up the lovely work & yummy baking. Many Thanks Nicola & Alfie Dogs Bernie & Bella (dogs) & Adrian & Charmainex A few pics of walks & places below where we explored. Lantivet Bay,St Ives,Talland Bay & all of us outside the Crumplehorn pub in Polperro & Landsolus Bay x

“" What an absolute treat "”
We had a fantastic, relaxing and cozy retreat at ashen cross. Tracy was most welcoming on arrival. When we entered the cottage we were greeted with lots of delicious homemade goodies and treats for the dogs. The area was beautiful with lovely country roads and plenty of dog friendly areas. Just wish we could have stayed longer :)

“Home away from home”
What an incredible time we've had. The cottage is stunning, cozy and immaculate. Even though we very much visited in Cornwall's off season, we've had a fantastic break. Everything you could need is in the cottage and, while my fiancé couldn't be torn away from the log fire or fancy coffee machine, I appreciated that everything inside is clean and of a great quality - each item has been thoughtfully chosen for the guests' convenience and comfort. I put us on television ban but there are two TVs and a DVD player but, if like us (me), you are there for quality family time and relaxation, you can borrow a book, game or jigsaw to enjoy in front of the fire - you can even swap your own book for a new one when you've finished. We had some great meals helped by the well equipped kitchen - thanks for the dishwasher - and there's plenty of space inside and out for dining. What makes this cottage stand out from anywhere else I have rented are the hosts who cannot do enough for you. We were welcomed with milk and eggs, freshly baked bread and cream teas to be washed down with locally sourced drinks and, on my fiancé's birthday, Tracy made us a delicious cake. Our dog enjoyed cuddles and biscuits and I enjoyed the great idea of a very cheaply priced minibar in the summer house where you can have a glass of wine whilst chatting to the resident duck at the fishing pond. Thank you very much for a wonderful break!
Owner's reply: So glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Looking forward to welcoming you back again soon xx
“Beautiful, comfortable, spotlessly clean, dog friendly cottage”
What a find! We absolutely loved staying in the Owl. Tracey and Geoff made us feel right at home from our very first telephone conversation until the day we left (although we didn't want to leave!) Beautiful, comfortable, spotlessly clean, dog friendly cottage. Tracy - the scones and cake were delicious. Nothing was too much trouble for them and the personal touches were amazing . We were given great advice on what to see and where to go and fell in love with Cornwall. Why haven't we been before??? We will be back for sure.
Owner's reply: So pleased you enjoyed your stay and really looking forward to welcoming you back again soon xx
Wonderful! What a fabulous stay we had at The Owl! We were greeted with a delicious home made afternoon tea which went down a treat after a long journey! Tracy and Geoff have thought of everything and were always on hand should we have needed them - we will definitely be coming back....sooner the better!
Owner's reply: So glad you enjoyed your stay and really looking forward to seeing you again soon xx
