Wonderful fully furnished one-bedroom apartment with a breathtaking view on the rooftops. The keywords could be sunny, quiet and elevator (all rarities in this area). But many more can be added!
Selected as an Airbnb Super Host, a SlowTravel Favorite, a Recommended Rental by the Dream of Italy Newsletter, a Gold Top Vacation Rental award on FlipKey, and a 5-star rating on Trip Advisor, our home is just a few steps from Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona, but located on a quiet and elegant street of the historical center. Just the perfect apartment for who wants to experience the very heart of the Eternal City.
The address: via dei Chiavari. An elegant and quiet street right in the heart of Rome, a few steps from Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona. The palace where the flat is located was built in 1200 on the ruins of the stage of "Pompey's Theater" - Rome's first theatre from 55 B.C. Recently, the building has been finely renovated and during the process the technicians have brought back to light some very beautiful frescos from the 1200 which are now visible on the sealing of the entrance hall.
The flat is placed on a high 3rd floor (high 4th by US standards) and is serviced by an elevator (a true rarity in buildings of this area). It's full of light and from its large windows, you can enjoy a lovely view of the rooftops of the historical city center.
The apartment is over 60 sq. meters (about 650 sq. ft). From the front door, you get into an entrance and then you enter a large living space which opens to the other rooms. Everything has been renovated most elegantly, with handmade Tuscany' tiles on the entire apartment's floor.
The living space is virtually divided into two areas: the living and the dining area. Here a beautiful antique Italian dining table can be expanded to easily sit up to eight guests. While in the living area, sitting on the sofa you can enjoy the sunset on the rooftops through a beautiful large window. Moreover, if you need, the sofa can be transformed into a very comfortable queen-sized bed for your visiting family and friends.
The bedroom reserves another incredible sight: the original 1200s roof tiles and woodwork have been perfectly kept through the centuries and constitute today's ceiling's finishing!
On the less historical side, here you find a nice king-size bed, a very large in-wall closet, a writing desk and a private entrance to the bathroom.
The bathroom has two independent entrances both from the living area as well as from the bedroom. Here you find an elegant white and blue handmade tile work on the walls, the handbasin, the w.c, a comfortably large shower cabin (sorry, no tub) and – following the Italian tradition - the "bidet".
The kitchen displays the same tile work as the bathroom and another hint to our history: the working surface is made of travertine marble - the same material used to build the Coloseum and most of the ancient palaces of the city. Logically, here you'll find all common appliances but also a washing machine with a dryer (a very useful, but not so common appliance in Italian homes). The windows here are made of specially hand-blown glass and they open on a tiny, cosy backyard, giving another view of the rooftops around.
Overall the flat is elegantly furnished with antique as well as modern furniture, original paintings and artworks on the walls. The rooms are intended to offer a pleasant balance between full and open space, leaving to you the eventuality to add your personal touch to your new home.
Moreover, the apartment enjoys an independent gas heating system, an armoured front door, a safe, double-glazed wooden windows, a loft storage space over the kitchen, several cabinets, a TV, a vacuum cleaner etc.
