Very Good

“Excellent stay!”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2018

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay on our short getaway. The price, the location, the cottage and the owners were absolutely fantastic. Winderemere is the perfect town to stay on the lake and also get to other towns by bus. We personally recommend a bar called ‘the crafty baa’ which had over 60 different craft beers and very tasty cheese boards. Would definitely stay here again!

Owner's reply: Thanks for the great review Demi. We hope to see you again at Jays Nest. Best wishes, Gary & Ange

“Home from Home!”

Lots of positive.... Position to Windermere, cleanliness, facilities are home from home, value for money, etc etc

“Perfect long weekend”

Reviewed 8 Feb 2016

Lovely long weekend at Jay's Nest - excellent location and easy to get to. Particularly fantastic facilities inside, all the kitchenware needed for good home cooking as well as wonderful towels and sheets. The huge bath tub was an especially welcome relief after long windy walking days.

“Beautiful Location, Stunning little place to stay!”

Reviewed 5 Feb 2016

We stayed for three nights at the beginning of Jan '16 and it was the most wonderful little place. It was immaculately presented when we arrived and it was like pretending we had our own little place for three days. I couldn't fault it at all. 100% would come again.

“Another Excellent Holiday”

Reviewed 15 Mar 2014

My girlfriend and I have always enjoyed visiting the Lake District and have stayed at a number of places, but Jay's Nest is the only one we return to now. We love everything about it: its location in Windermere in relation to the rest of the National Park is ideal if you want to set off in all directions to explore the area. It's cosy, clean, very comfortable, and I can't think of a better place to return to in the evening after a long day trekking about on the fells. The only complaint I'd have is we love it so much, it makes leaving at the end of the holiday so much harder. We're already looking forward to our next visit - can't wait!

“very cozy, quiet tucked away cottage”

Reviewed 4 Mar 2014

Stayed a total of 12 nights due to a course in Windermere. Very clean on arrival and Gary and Ange were always happy to help. My partner who is in the later stages of pregnancy stayed with me for 4 nights which made it a home from home for us. It was very cozy, quiet tucked away cottage, with only a 10 minute walk into the town. Would strongly recommend anyone to Jays Nest. John

“Outstanding value and a beautiful property”

Reviewed 2 Dec 2013

We very much enjoyed staying at Jay's Nest. It was a beautifully-presented property that represented excellent value at £320 for the week. We went for a number of pleasant walks in the area and got everywhere by foot or train (the station is only a 20-minute walk away). The local Morrisons and excellent kitchen at Jay's Nest meant we could enjoy staying in and cooking for ourselves most nights. However, there are plenty of local restaurants if you'd prefer to go out. The property is situated in a quiet area and was very comfortable. It helped that we had excellent weather without any rain for the whole week. Gary and Ange, the owners, were very welcoming and even offered us a lift to the train station! Highly recommended.

“Lovely apartment shame about the water pipes making so much noise and keeping us awake most of the night.”

Reviewed 14 Mar 2013

Lovely apartment and a 10-15 minute walk into Windermere, longer into Bowness. The only issue we had with the apartment was that when the central heating was on or when someone ran the water in the house attached the pipes clanked and make lots of noise which kept us awake or woke us up throughout the night- which was very annoying. Could do with taking your own scissors as there wasn't any for cutting in the kitchen. One window had a view, not massive though- but for the money we paid this was acceptable.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your comments & we are so sorry for any inconvenience. We were unaware of the problem with noise coming from the central heating pipes & are pleased to advise our plumber has found the source of the problem & fixed it. The missing scissors have been replaced.
