As you would expect, there is a fully equipped kitchen and a small utility room.

With 3 bedrooms and 2 modern bathrooms, Three Pound Cottage sleeps up to 5 guests comfortably. Whilst perfect for families looking to explore Dartmoor and Devon, this cosy yet spacious holiday cottage is also ideal for couples or friends seeking a relaxing escape, encompassing long walks on Dartmoor and evenings spent relaxing in front of the fire.

Three Pound Cottage is in a truly picturesque setting and is often the subject of visiting artists and photographers. Despite being only a stone’s throw from the village shop and the award-winning village pub, there is an array of scenic walks for all abilities literally from the front door. With Lustleigh’s unique location in the Wrey valley you can take in the spectacular views along the famous Lustleigh Cleave one day followed by a relaxing riverside walk the next musing over the thousands of people and cart horses to use the “packhorse” bridges through the centuries – it really is an ideal location for keen walkers and ramblers.

Lustleigh is truly beautiful, packed with thatched cottages and a warm welcoming community which shines on May Day with village celebrations, Maypole dancing and crowning of the May Queen, August Bank Holiday when the village puts on the impressive Lustleigh Show – not forgetting the fun Boxing Day rubber duck race.

Within the village you’ll find a friendly shop, “The Dairy”, stocked with lots of local produce as well as all the essentials such as milk, bread, wine etc not forgetting the famous Devon Clotted Cream and home-made Scones. There’s also a warm welcome waiting for you in the award winning pub “The Cleave” offering fantastic food in a relaxed and jovial atmosphere. For younger guests there’s a children’s play area in the Orchard, a magical place to explore where it’s all too easy to believe in Dartmoor Pixies. The Orchard also forms part of many of the varied walks around Lustleigh.

However, in the unlikely event that you become bored with the stunning scenery and wonderful walks, Haytor (probably the most iconic tor), Hounds Tor, The 10 Commandment Stones, Jays Grave, Bowerman’s Nose, Trenchford & Tottiford Reservoirs (also good for picnics & fishing) are but a short drive away. As are the towns of Bovey Tracey, Chagford, Moretanhampstead and Ashburton for those who need a bit of bustle.

Indeed, Lustleigh benefits from good access to the main roads making it the perfect base camp - not only easy to get to, but also easy to explore Dartmoor and further afield including Devon’s coastal towns/villages and beaches – Shaldon and Teignmouth are a great day out by the seaside. In fact, a day out to Cornwall is not too much of a challenge, whether it be Mevagissy, Padstow, St Ives, Tintagel or Boscastle.

For the more adventurous, Dartmoor offers a wide range of activities from Horseriding to Bouldering, not forgetting River Swimming, Kayaking and Archery. And of course there is an abundance of family visitor attractions. There really is so much to see and do – don’t take our word for it, check us out on Tripadvisor and hear from our many returning guests.

“Three Pound Cottage”

Reviewed 19 May 2015

Three Pound Cottage is an exquisite 16th century property with 21st century conveniences including underfloor heating. The two bathrooms were very convenient. It is nestled in the village of Lustleigh, Devon which sits on the eastern edge of Dartmoor. The village has a well stocked corner shop and a popular pub called The Cleave. Many beautiful walks are directly accessible from the cottage or a short drive will take you to the moors. The towns of Bovey Tracey and Newton Abbot are 15 minutes away by car and another 15 minutes will get you to Exeter. If you want a Dartmoor experience, Three Pound Cottage is the place to stay.

“Comfy, cosy and quaint”

Reviewed 9 Apr 2015

What a fantastic place to stay! Lustleigh is a quaint little hamlet, and despite little in the way of local amenities (bar a welcoming village shop and pub - sadly the local tea room was closed for the winter) it seemed the almost perfect place to stay. Three Pound Cottage itself, well, what a stunning little abode. Situated in the centre of the village but nicely tucked away, you couldn't have wished for a more idyllic place to rest and relax - a beautiful leat running alongside the building, as well as the river wrey just a few footsteps away. What amazed me most of all was how up-to-date the cottage was - very good internet connection (thankfully, as phone reception is poor in the village), 'smart' TVs, a gorgeous inglenook fireplace and wood burner, plus the mother of all heating systems including underfloor heating downstairs - just absolutely spot on. Owners Brian and Michaela were also very accommodating, allowing my wife, child and I the opportunity to arrive a day earlier as the house was vacant. The cottage was super-clean and had all the necessary bits and pieces needed. We even pestered them post-stay for information on where they purchased many of the items the cottage was renovated with, and they were very helpful in that regard too. It's unusual for my family to return for a second stay to one of the many cottages we've rented in the UK over the last 9 years, but Three Pound Cottage is certainly one we would come back to time and again. Thoroughly recommended!

“Beautiful period cottage in the most picturesque villiage of Lustleigh.”

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Three Pound Cottage, have recommended this stunning period cottage and village to many of my friends and family. The village is timeless yet so close to everything you can expect from a Devon holiday. Great days out and happily home to the cottage for some real comfort. All the modern needs are in the cottage wifi, smart tv's, everything you need is there. Pub has fantastic menu and nice wine list too so you can stay local if you don't fancy driving ;) will be going back for sure.

“Idyllic cottage and location”

Reviewed 28 Sep 2014

We stayed here for a week in July. The accommodation was perfect - an idyllic cottage and location, lovingly restored. The owners have put a lot of effort into providing every modern convenience. The furnishings were perfectly matched to the traditional thatched cottage but there was also internet access and unlimited movies and satellite TV which kept our teenage son happy. All this within easy reach of Dartmoor. There are several walks right from the front door which will take you onto the moors or you can drive for 15-30 mins and be deep in the heart of England's last great wilderness. There is the local pub for great food and atmosphere right on the doorstep and, further afield, some great restaurants like The Thatched Cottage-Kinsteignton, Bovey Castle and even the 2 starred Gidleigh Park, if the budget stretches that far. If not, the kitchen is very well equipped. More grown-up family joined us through the week but for younger children there is the play park in the orchard just a few steps from the cottage.

“Wow! What can I say, the ultimate holiday break.”

The charming Three Pound Cottage is a quintessential english country cottage with roses around the door, thatched roof and perfectly situated in the delightful village of Lustleigh. But added to which is every conceivable convenience and luxury to make our visit perfect. From under floor heating, a wood burning stove, delightful furnishings and charming touches everywhere one looks, this cottage has to be one of the best on offer Devon!
