Built in 1850 by the Coniston Copper Company, this cottage provided accommodation to workers from Copper Mine Valley. Miner's Cottage is rustic and full of charm, and is set in one of the most beautiful spots in Coniston Village.

At the foot of the Old Man of Coniston, this cottage has superb and unspoilt views of Coniston Water, Grizedale Forest and Yewdale, and is the perfect setting for a relaxing break for couples or families, yet only a few minutes walk from all the amenities that Coniston has to offer.

The path behind the cottage will lead you to the Old Man of Coniston or you could wander down to the lake for fishing or take part in the various water sport activities. Cycling (or mountain biking) is also very popular, with Grizedale forest on the opposite side of Coniston Water. For more leisurely moments, the Gondola, a Victorian steam powered yacht, is a perfect way to see Coniston's spectacular scenery. Or you could take the opportunity to visit the Ruskin Museum for local history, or Brantwood on the shores of Coniston Water, former home to the poet John Ruskin.

Throughout 2012, Miner's Cottage was renovated and lovingly restored to show many original features. Internally, the cottage is spacious and presented to a very high standard, ensuring that guests have a thoroughly enjoyable stay all year round. A cool and charming cottage in Summer, and warm and cosy in Winter with a log burning stove.

The cottage is roomy with a comfortable lounge, a large dining kitchen, a utility area, a good size family bathroom upstairs and a large downstairs WC.

The downstairs area of the Cottage is fully tiled, making this an ideal holiday location for you and your pet.

The Duddon Valley region

Coniston lies in the heart of the real Lake District, and is one of the area's most beautiful hidden gems. Nestling at the foot of the Coniston Old Man, this charming and picturesque village is surrounded by spectacular rugged crags and foaming waterfalls.

The original village was built around the 16 century Coniston Hall, but is now very much a Victorian village with lovely tea rooms, cafes and traditional Lakeland pubs. Coniston is a favourite with walkers, cyclists, and sailors, as well as those simply wanting a relaxing getaway break.

Lots of opportunities for sailing, canoeing, rowing, windsurfing, kayaking and hire of electric powered boats. Tuition and advice for all levels of ability is available from locally based qualified instructors. You will find more information from Coniston Boating Centre. Fishing with a rod licence from many of the public shores is allowed. Contact the Tourist Information Centre for full information of permits and purchase or hire of tackle.

Options galore from the leisurely pedal to the energy of mountain biking. For the latter, there are the tracks in the nearby Grizedale Forest and the ultimate challenge of the route to the summit of Skiddaw from the Whinlatter Forest farther north.

"Luxury cottage"

A wonderful sanctuary to return to after a mountain walk or cycle round the lake. Every detail of this home has been considered from the excellent facilities in the kitchen to the comfiest bed you could sleep in. Wonderful views and welcoming neighbours. A great place to relax on holiday.

"Fantastic week in Coniston in a Beautiful Cottage!"

At last a cottage that delivers on all levels! stayed in too many before which promise this, that and the other and never deliver this does! fantastically positioned with stunning views of coniston lake and yet only a 5 minute walk into the village. the cottage has every base covered wether you want too cook in or eat out. we did everything from cooking a sunday roast to having cheese, biscuits and port in front of the wood burning fire! the cottage is spotlessly clean, furnished beautifully and ideal for 2 couples or a family of 4 like us. apart from eating in, we dined at the Drunken Duck inn at Barngates only 6 miles away which is stunning, a little biased about this place as we have been numerous times plus got engaged there! another great find was the Queens Head in Hawkeshead, fantastic food lovely pub wether dining in the bar or dining room and really nice staff. Lunchtimes you cannot do better than the Bluebird Cafe on Lake Coniston, great food, great views and always busy. A tea time drink in the Black Bull in Consiton finished the day off nicely and with its own brewery attached the beer doesn't get better than here! You must visit Miners Cottage you will not be disappointed!! We will be revisiting !!!
