Location description from owner

The England region

Birdsong is a contemporary house situated in Treloyhan which is a beautiful sheltered area on the edge of St Ives.

The house has a large garden and takes full advantage of the outstanding views with bedrooms on the ground floor and the living area and a huge balcony on the first floor.

There are panoramic views over Porthreptor Cove and St Ives Bay.

The house is set amongst Monteray Pine Trees and feels like you are in the treetops.

Carbis Bay

St Ives is described as a little slice of the Mediterranean, in the far west of Britain.

There are dozens of art galleries in the town as well as the Tate, Barbara Hepworth Gallery, Bernard Leach Pottery, and restaurants and cafes serving fish straight off the boats.

St Ives has a film set quality, the jumble of whitewashed, slate hung cottages climbing away from the fishing harbour; the white sands, palms and beach cabins of Porthminster Beach so reminiscent of the French Riviera and in complete contrast but just minutes away, the heavy surf and salt laden winds of Porthmeor Beach.

There are boats to hire, galleries to visit, hidden coves to discover or just stop, stand still ad take in the roar and might of the Atlantic ocean.

“Stunning views”

Reviewed 2 Mar 2015

My girlfriend and I stayed at Birdsong for a long weekend break. We left London looking for some rest and relaxation. Birdsong was perfect. It is a large detached house with breathtaking views. Even though it was February we lay in the Cornish sunshine drinking coffee, ate at the multitude of fantastic restaurants in St. Ives and went for long hikes over beaches and around headlands. On Sunday morning we woke up to a stunning sunrise that we could watch without even needing to get out of bed. It was the perfect mini break, I could never get bored of that view. Will bring our friends and family with us next time. Thank you for letting us share your family home.

“The most Beautiful Setting”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2014

Birdsong lived up to all expectations. A two storey spacious house with stunning views from the balcony and patio over the Bay. Very clean and well kept. Everything supplied for total self catering and Tesco superstore a very short walk away. The table football, snooker and table tennis were a big hit with us in the evening when it got a bit chilly, great fun. Walk to the bottom of the garden and follow the scenic coastal path to St Ives. As you leave the path you enter one of the Cafe's leading onto the sea front, great for a coffee or snack before heading into the town centre. Saturday when we went was very quiet and a joy to meander, later in the week it was very busy. The gorgeous beach is a short walk in the other direction and the coastal path then continues for miles, (for the serious walker) quite narrow and very hilly. There is plenty to do and see in Cornwall and nothing is too far away from your base. We had dinner at the Watermill Inn a 10 minute drive away and the food was excellent. The car park is very small and you may have to park elsewhere or wait for a space. would also recommend booking because it is so popular. They allow dogs as well. Highly recommend this Inn for a meal out. Also Becks Fish and Chip restaurant just a short drive away was most welcome on arrival. We had to wait for the takeaway, but didn't know you can order in advance. Worth doing if you are not going to eat in the restaurant. I'm so glad we chose Birdsong it could not have been better for our family holiday.

“Excellent accommodation with beautiful views”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2014

Birdsong is a lovely house in a wonderful position. I booked this house for a family holiday. The views are what it is worth booking this accommodation for. Waking up and sitting out on the balcony overlooking the ocean is the perfect way to start each day. The house itself is open plan, spacious and well equipped and in easy walking distance to either St Ives town or Carbis bay beach. I would highly recommend this accommodation for a family holiday. We had great weather as well which is always a bonus in the UK!
