“Lovely”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2016

Lovely little cottage in Dartmoor, just what we were looking for - a break away from work and in the middle of nowhere for some time out to relax. Hosts were very accommodating and friendly.

Thank you Charis for your review. We appreciate that you take the time to write and are happy that your experience was a really positive one! Sending kind regards from Dartmoor, Sarah and Nick.

“A wonderful stay- once again!”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2015

Our third stay in The Mill and once again it provided a warm and comfortable base for walks on the moor and in the valleys. Nick and Sarah are the perfect hosts- always ready to help but never intrusive on your privacy. They go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure everything is perfect for you.

Thanks for the lovely down to earth review, its great when we have guests who make the most of Dartmoor and the valleys up to the moor, we really hope to see you in the future, our very best for the Autumn term ahead! Nick & Sarah

“Highly Recommended!!”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2015

I would highly recommend Nick & Sarah's property to anyone. They were extremely welcoming and along with their farm staff you would not know it was a working farm as it is so peaceful and tranquil. The photographs on the website of 'The Mill' do not do the property justice, we had everything we needed and more and there were numerous personal touches such as a bottle of wine, fresh milk and eggs waiting for our arrival.

Thanks for staying with us and the great review, we're working on some new photos this week and hopefully a new website is coming shortly too! Sarah & I are running an offer for previous guests with a 25% discount on the next stay, please look out for our e-mail newsletter or drop us a line if we can help. All the best, Nick

“Truly wonderful- again!”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2015

We stayed here for a week in October, now in May and have booked for next October. What better recommendation can we give! Dartmoor in spring was spectacular, with carpets of bluebells in the woods and on the hillsides. We walked every day, both in the Haytor area (just 4 miles away) and also further afield. The Mill is comfortable and cosy, so much so that we cooked all our meals at home this time. The kitchen has all the utensils you need. The family are always welcoming and helpful, but never intrusive. The three dogs are stars! A wonderfully relaxing stay.

The dogs are delighted at the review, thankyou very much from us all, its lovely to have such great feedback, we promise to keep up the good work! Have a super summer, see you in October, best regards, Sarah & Nick

“A truly magical place to stay”

Reviewed 27 Jan 2015

It's hard to describe in words how much we enjoyed staying at Lurcombe. Not only did it live up to very high expectations we'd developed (derived from the photos, description & other reviews) but actually exceeded them! Though not far from the A38, Lurcombe is, as the description will tell you, beautifully nestled away in a hidden valley. The key was left in the door for us and we were at once made to feel at home & completely relaxed by Nick who happened to be out with the dogs (who also deserve a special mention - they are fab!) at the time we arrived. We stayed in the Mill. It was spacious, clean & very comfortable - the open plan kitchen & lounge gave it a great feel, and the bedroom was fantastic, with an amazing king size bed! There's a small hatch above the bed so you can peek out over the rolling hills in the mornings as you plan your day, just beautiful. Nick's suggestions were also great - we spent the Saturday walking around Haytor & over to Hound Tor, which are about 3 miles away from Lurcombe. Saturday evening we went to the lovely Rugglestone in at Widecombe on the Moor, and on Sunday we wondered into nearby village Ilsington to another great pub - The Carpenters Arms (all on Nick's recommendations). As we found out, it's very difficult to understand the magic of this place without visiting. We would highly recommend it and are already planning our next visit! Thank you Nick & Sarah. Sam & Vicky

Thanks for the Fab review and thanks for staying with us, hope to see you again, best regards, Sarah & Nick

“Cosy, warm, homely and well located!”

Reviewed 19 Nov 2014

I stayed at The Mill for 3 nights in November - it is a lovely, cosy, comfortable place to stay near all the main Dartmoor sights. It is clean, well equipped and has stunning views. It's location is perfect, near lovely Ashburton with a superb choice of independent shops yet near unspoilt Dartmoor for great hiking, views and space! It is peaceful and has an amazingly comfortable bed to relax in after an active day....There are maps and plenty of locational advice to utilise.

“Wonderful accommodation, ideally situated.”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2014

The Mill was a warm and comfortable cottage, with Nick and Sarah close by and always ready to help and advise. Lurcombe is an excellent location, both in terms of its nearness to the stunning south- eastern side of the moor, and also its proximity to the A38. We walked every day of our week-long stay, on the moors and in the wooded valleys, and were bowled away by the breathtaking views and autumn colours. The dogs always gave us an enthusiastic welcome on our return home each evening! We can't wait to return!

Thankyou very much, the Autumn colours were spectacular and really pleased to hear you found some great walks, we hope to see you again, all the best, Nick & Sarah

“Glorious cosy country retreat”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2014

What a wonderful place. The cottage itself - the Mill was fabulous really nicely done and everything one could ask for - including THE most amazing bed ever. Fabulously comfortable and beautifully styled. Location is perfect very near Ashburton which is lovely and right on the edge of the moors. Even the farm itself has lovely walks, not to mention the company of the lovely resident dogs! Nick and Sarah are lovely hosts and have done a great job on these cottages, incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Cannot rate this place highly enough we will definitely be back.

Thankyou very much for the lovely review, hope to see you again at some stage. PS the secret to the Coleslaw at Home Farm Cafe, we found out, was rock salt! Best Regards,Nick & Sarah...

“Fantastic stay in beautiful cottage”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2014

We had a wonderful stay here over the bank holiday (2 adults, 1 infant). Cottage is freshly decorated and fully equipped with everything you will need for a home away from home. Nick (the owner) was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.
