Our Penthouse Apartment has amazing views from every window over the bustling harbour town of St Ives,the bay and beyond,and like our other apartments is only a stones throw from the town and St Ives magnificent beaches , .

Recently refurbished, the apartment retains its period charm with feature granite walls polished granite shelving, heavy oak furniture and angular, slanting ceilings, tastefully combined with crisp, white bed linen and sofas that you sink into. The whole apartment has a light, airy feel to it, with the rooms flowing easily into one another.

The custom-made eight-foot bed tucks in under the slanted ceilings like something out of a fairy-tale. The head and foot designed especially low to allow for the anticipated intrusion of any children running-in in the morning and jumping up to gaze out of the quirky, angular window at the early-morning rising of St Ives far below. If you open the window, the smell of the sea air waits to greet you and the distant murmuring of life drifts up.

The romantic, magical feel to this apartment has made it a favourite with couples but with the bed big enough to accommodate two children as well as their parents and a double sofa bed in the lounge, there is plenty of room for a large party to stay too.

The lounge has 2 large, comfortable sofas and a solid wood dining table and chairs, all over-looking the stunning view across the harbour and out to sea. See the sun rise out of the ocean over your breakfast, then in the evening retire to the enormous balcony situated conveniently right outside the kitchen for alfresco dining and from your elevated position, suspended above the town, see it sink down over the jumble of buildings and twisty streets, casting long shadows and a gentle golden glow that leaves you bathed in peace and serenity.

The large bright bathroom has a w/c,sink and a bath with shower and features the most amazing town,harbour and sea views.

There is CARPARKING at the back of the property which is like gold dust in St Ives.

St Ives

On 14th July 2007, The Guardian newspaper named the Cornish culture capital, St Ives, as its seaside town of the year. A star-studded panel of judges, including Bill Bryson, Rick Stein and John Betjeman's daughter, Candida Lycett Green, came to the decision after debating the pros and cons of 12 shortlisted coastal towns and cities from across Britain and Ireland.

Stein, known worldwide as the patron of Padstow but who has been going to St Ives since his childhood, was one of many keen advocates of the town.

"The thing I really love about St Ives is that it is on two beaches, so you get two aspects of the ocean, which makes it very romantic and quite unusual for a British resort. I think of it as the big brother of Padstow."

St Ives also scored heavily for its rugged views, exhilarating clifftop walks, the good surf at Porthmeor Beach and, of course, its cultural offerings, with judges keen to note its burgeoning new art talent as well as the Tate Gallery (specialising in modern Cornish art) and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden.

Panel member Alastair Sawday declared, "I have a special love for St Ives...it has everything a seaside town needs". He went on to commend balmy beaches, great surf, fantastic fish, superb coastal walks and an infectious convivial buzz.

Some lesser-known delights of St Ives that came up during the judging process include the regular appearances of basking sharks and seals, the delightful branch line railway link to St Erth, the delicious fish-and-chip takeaway downstairs at the Porthminster Café, and the curious tradition of "silver ball hurling" - during which a silver ball is thrown through the streets by children on Feast Monday in February.

"A perfect view over St. Ives."

Our 2nd visit to this excellent apartment; spent 12 nights there & got a healthy reduction to the (rather expensive) weekly rate for the first week as the Sat. / Sun. was already booked-out.
The high price is somewhat compensated for though by the fantastic balcony & resultant view of the town below.
The apartment is spacious for 2 people, despite the loft location, and is adequate for 4 people (utilising the sofa-bed); all rooms are finished & furnished to a high standard, with wifi & car parking included in the price of the property.

Lovely to see you again and I hope to see you next year if you are down this way!Mark and family

"Best view of St Ives from every room"

As a frequent (6 times a year) visitor to St Ives, I can honestly say this is one of, if not the best, places that I have stayed.
On a practical level it has parking which when coming in peak season with a dog. I could drive to Porthkidney Sands each day without the worry of losing my space! The apartment is also central, just a few minutes walk and you are in the midst of the town.
Mark had laid on an excellent welcome pack of scones, shortbread and saffron cake which was very welcome indeed when I arrived at 10pm - it even had home-made dog biscuits, a really nice touch.
The apartment has a well-equipped kitchen and a proper bathroom (so many holiday places do not have a bath, but in this one you can have a bath and still enjoy the views at the same time!). The double aspect living area was a delight.
Best of all was the roof deck. The weather was scorchio and I laid for hours just watching the goings on in the harbour - a true break from the hectic pace in London.
I'll be back!

"superb 1st class accommodation"

Apartment 4 is in a super location. We sat on a decked balcony on sun beds with a bottle of wine overlooking the town, harbour and beach. The apartment is really special with lots of interesting features and has everything you need for a perfect holiday. It has a private parking space which is worth its weight in gold in St Ives. Everything is within a short walking distance. The apartment is furnished to a very high and stylish standard with great attention to detail. Mark the owner makes you feel really welcome and nothing is too much trouble. We would highly recommend staying there. While there don't miss a visit to the Pedn Olva hotel up the road where you can sit on their sun terraces and enjoy a drink or meal overlooking the sea. Best apartment we have stayed in and will be going back.

"Amazing stay! Exceeded expectations."

"beautiful appartment. stunning views. great location. perfect."

Having never been to St Ives before it was a joy to find that our apartment had such stunning views, the photos on the website don't even do it justice. At night the view of all the houses with their outside lights on illuminating the bay is like something from a postcard. Then during the day you have a stunning view of the whole town from the kitchen and balcony, and the huge windows in the living room and bedroom look out over the sea. The apartment itself is beautifully kept, clean and roomy, with all manner of oddities on the shelves. A good selection of books around the place too, from novels to biographies and trivia. The apartment is very central, leading down onto a road filled with shops and restaurants. about 10 minutes walk from the sea, and with St Ives being a condensed sort of place, you're close to all of the attractions. Upon arrival we discovered a small basket in the kitchen containing biscuits, tea, coffee, jam, scones and lots of other goodies, which again, was a nice surprise. Little gestures like this go a long way and make you feel instantly at home, which after a long journey down from Sheffield was most welcome. Great wifi connection and all the mod cons. Without question, if we were to visit St Ives again, we would stay here. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

"Cosy with lovely views"

The apartment had everything you could ask for, it was cosy and relaxing which is just I wanted after going through a hectic few weeks. The views were lovely, I could quite easily spend hours just seeing the changes in the tide, weather etc. Good location and having a parking space was a bonus. Would come back again!

"Perfect location"

A lovely apartment with everything you could possibly need to hand. Fabulous kitchen and bathroom. Lovely shower, heated towel rail, easy to work and effective central heating. This is a gorgeous place to stay and so close to the town centre. The views are amazing from all the rooms. Personally, we would have preferred an ordinary kingsize or double bed (would be easier to walk around and no join in the middle) but generally, everything was brilliant! To arrive to a hamper of goodies is a lovely thought. Will definitely come again!

"Surpassed all our expectations!"

This is less like a holiday apartment and more like moving into someone's home! It is so welcoming and comfortable and is perfect for a stay in St Ives.

To do justice to this accommodation I am going to review room by room.

Kitchen: A modern kitchen with modern hob, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster, washer/dryer, digital radio. All of which were easy to use. Pots and pans, a variety of baking trays and bun tins, glasses, cups, mugs, ovenware and an extensive selection of utensils. You could cook a full Sunday roast dinner with no trouble. A good selection of cleaning products is supplied under the sink. If you decide to eat in and are stuck for ideas there are a number of great cookery books to help you decide.

Upon arrival we were pleased to find a wooden hamper stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits, fresh cakes, shortbread, scones, jam and a pot of clotted cream in the fridge! What a warm welcome!!!!

Bathroom: A large airy bathroom with large bath and the best shower I've used in a long time. Powerful and responsive. Loved the bookcase with a huge selection of books for all tastes.

Love the old military scales in the corner!

Sitting room: A large sitting cum dining room with solid wood furniture, two comfy sofas, full dining table and chairs and spectacular views over St Ives. A large TV with a sky box and DVD player, dominoes and a puzzle provided rainy weather entertainment. Free wifi was a godsend.

Bedroom: Dominated by a bed the size of Texas!! Be warned - going back home to your own bed will be a bit of a shock after sleeping in this beast! I swear it could have easily accommodated the von Trapp family! If you are tall you need to watch your head on the sloping roof but at 5ft 2in I was fine! Hairdryer supplied in dressing table.

Landing: Large double wardrobe and drawers provided plenty of storage room. There were even a couple of hot water bottles. I think that there might be some baby equipment on top of the wardrobe but as we didn't need it we didn't investigate.

Heating throughout was controlled by easy to use central heating panel. The sitting room window has a guard/stop on it to prevent mischievous kids falling out.

Access: The apartment can be accessed by either the back stairs and door leading to the kitchen or through the front of the house via an internal staircase. We only used the front door once as it brings you out further up the road than the back entrance. This road doesn't have a footpath at this point so using the back stairs means you have less time spent on the road.

All in all we really cannot fault this accommodation. Mark the owner called me on departure day to say we could extend our stay if we wanted as the apartment wasn't due to be cleaned until the following day and I can't stress how much this meant to me as I was feeling a bit queasy after a dodgy fish meal.

Shops and restaurants were just a couple of minutes walk away. Car parking is available behind the property - don't forget to put the post up or some scallywag will steal your parking place!

One final tip. Don't overpack your bags before coming here as with the washer/dryer and iron available you can get by with a lot less than a normal hotel holiday.

I would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone wishing to stay in St Ives.
Due to the steps (its the top floor flat) I would not recommend it to people with limited mobility.
