This luxurious, newly refurbished detached cottage is located in the picturesque crofting village of Mellon Charles on the north east shore of Loch Ewe, just off the famous NC500 route. Set within private, spacious grounds high up in the hills with breathtaking south-facing views of Loch Ewe and the Torridon hills, this cottage offers the perfect location for a relaxing holiday.

The interior of the cottage is bright and tastefully decorated, with comfortable furnishings, a warm log fire, and ample dining space for up to 8 people. Luxurious soft linen, thick cotton towels, and locally made artisan soaps are provided for your convenience. This is truly a home away from home on the west coast of Scotland.

Within the private and secure grounds of the house, there is ample space for relaxation and taking in the stunning views. The outdoor dining area accommodates up to 8 people, and the fire pit is perfect for enjoying the stars on colder nights. The garden is fully enclosed, allowing pets to roam freely without any concerns.

The serene sandy beach, with its crystal-clear turquoise water, is just a 10-minute walk from the cottage. It is an ideal spot for swimming, walking the dog, or trying out some water sports. Canoe rentals and lessons are available nearby.

At night, the stars and Milky Way come alive in the sky, thanks to the lack of light pollution. Photographers will have the opportunity to capture stunning shots, and you may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.

A short drive away is the bustling village of Aultbea, where you can buy fresh langoustines and scallops straight from the sea at the well-stocked shop. The village also has a post office, church, local pub as well as the Russian Arctic Convoy Museum, which tells the story of the 3000 personnel stationed in the area during World War II.

The larger village of Gairloch, with its shops, takeaways, and 9-hole golf course, is just 14 miles away. From Gairloch, you can book boat tours to search for whales and dolphins.

How do damage deposits work?

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Neil (the owner) a message.

If Neil (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
