From the owner

Barncastle originally was a cattle barn used by my grandfather and later by my father to house our cows and calves, tractors and farm implements. Planning permission was granted to convert the old barn and work began approximately 20 years ago.
Barncastle was completed in December 2005 and our first visitors arrived on the 28th of that month celebrating their New Year.

Barncastle has 4 double bedrooms and a twin bedroom, 4 bathrooms, large dining room, lounge and fully equipped kitchen with table and chairs.

We are committed to excellence by offering Barncastle as an outstanding self catering holiday accommodation. Barncastle has been assessed each year by VisitEngland for quality in tourism. Barncastle has continually been awarded a five star self catering award since 2006 and in 2012 sits comfortably within that category. 'It offers comfortable accommodation in a delightful environment.' Barncastle is committed to catering for the needs of families and has been approved by VisitEngland after meeting the criteria for the 'Families Welcome Scheme'. Barncastle is eligible to receive a Gold Award and achieved this in 2012 for exceptional quality of accommodation and customer service.

Why can't I call Valerie (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Valerie (the owner) a message.

If Valerie (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
