Location description from owner

The England region

Sitting in the best of Somerset countryside, Apple Cottage is close to Glastonbury, which besides the annual Festival is famous for its abbey ruins and spiritual identity. Longleat safari park is another popular attraction, where you can spend the day driving amongst lions and rhinos. For the architecturally-minded, Wells (the smallest city in England) has a must-see cathedral.

The world heritage site of Bath, half an hour away, is definitely worth a visit, whether for its Georgian buildings, shopping, Abbey or pump room and naturally heated spa baths. The SS Great Britain in Bristol and its various museums and art galleries also make a great day out. Other attractions include the Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole caves, Fleet air arm museum and Haynes Motor museum.

“Very relaxing break...”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2015

The communication from Woodland Retreats was very good, so the property was ready on our arrival and was easy to find. The cottage was lovely, although I felt it could do with a few more pictures in the stairway area to make it feel a little more homely (only me being fussy). The place was tidy, although not quite as thoroughly clean as I would expect (once again, I'm quite fussy, so it wasn't that bad really). The hot tube was great and we had fantastic weather so we made great use of it! Whilst we stayed we went to Glastonbury and walked up the Tor - definitely worth a visit! We also traveled to Cheddar Gorge and walked around the loop - fantastic scenery and a good work-out!! Me and my husband brought our teenage son and family dog and it was great for us. We had a lovely relaxing break and I would definitely recommend others to stay - especially if you want to nice rural feel without being too far away from local amenities.

Many thanks for your kind words about Apple Cottage and we are really glad that you had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the location and hot tub. We always endeavour to keep the property clean and tidy so were sorry to hear that it didn't quite meet the level you expected. We hope that you come back and visit again in the future. Kindest regards Ed & The Woodlands Retreats Team

“Amazing”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2014

Ticks all the boxes, amazing cottage well decorated with all the home comforts. Location is fab with an excellent well stocked farm shop 5 mins away. Only reason we didn't give 5 stars it didn't have a cork screw - this has now been resolved by a trip to shepton mallet :)

We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Apple Cottage, we're happy to say that we have now replaced the broken bottle opener thank you for letting us know. We hope to see you again sometime. Paul & the team.

“Beautiful”

Reviewed 7 Nov 2013

It is as proposed: A beautiful old cottage, completely renewed with a lot of passion for details. You feel comfortable from the first second. We especially liked the nice views on hilly somerset from the jacuzzi and the silence at day and night to find a rest wherever (terace, jacuzzi, bed or sofa) and whenever you want. The nearby farm shop was excellent for everything to buy. Paul is easy to communicate and took a lot of time to introduce the cottage and the location.

Thank you for your comments; we're really pleased you enjoyed your stay at Apple Cottage and hope to see you again on your next trip to the UK. Paul & team.
