As well as fine dining at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Watergate Bay and Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow. Padstow is in fact just five miles away and has pubs, shops, restaurants and its beautiful bay and estuary. Hiring bikes to cycle The Camel Estuary is well worth doing.

Just across the road from Skiber An Hyli is a dramatic headland walk, with a secluded beach called Diggory. The nearest beach is Pothcothan, 1 mile away, which is ideal for families with its sandy stretch to the sea.

Very sorry but no smokers and no pets

Location description from owner

The England region

Cornwall is a magical place for a holiday. It is naturally beautiful, with dramatic coastline, quaint fishing villages and beautiful green countryside.

There's lots to do - from delicious food and drink (fresh seafood & fish and chips, Cornish cream teas, the famous Cornish pasty and real ales), to visitor attractions like The Eden Project, The Minnack Theatre, Land's End, and Poldark and Daphne du Maurier country.

It's a beautiful, rural part of England - a place where you feel instantly relaxe - but also with a massive amount of sights and activities to keep you entertained, active or inspired.

Porthcothan Bay

Surrounding Skiber An Hyli is an area with a wealth of things to see, do and experience. Rick Stein's famous Seafood Restaurant at Padstow is only 5 miles away. Also at Padstow is an array of pasty and fish & chip shops, a beautiful estuary with sandy beach, a quaint working harbour, and The Camel Trail. You can also take the ferry over the estuary to the lovely village of Rock.

In the other direction from Skiber An Hyli is Newquay, a vibrant town, for fans of surfing with the magnificent Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach. Families or sun-worshippers will love the long golden beaches. Jamie Oliver's Fifteen is a wonderful beachside restaurant not far from the house.

In the glorious Cornish countryside surrounding Skiber An Hyli, there are plenty of farm shops and village pubs to explore too.

Family attractions include Old MacDonalds Farm, riding stables, waterports on Watergate Bay & Newquay Zoo.

“Excellent Holiday”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2016

Pros: Excellent little cottage for our week's holiday. Beautifully clean, well equipped and comfortable in quiet location in spite of the nearby road. Good parking Situated midway between Padstow & Newquay and the many other beautiful beaches, walks & fabulous scenery. Well placed for the local, easily accessed, quiet beach (before the school holidays and in mixed weather conditions), which had a convenient little shop, refreshment facility & nearby pay car park. Warm Welcome & helpful instructions from Lee & Martin on local facilities shops, pubs, Restaurants & places of interest. Cons: Cornwall is generally very poor for Mobile phone (you might get a weak signal at the top of the hill) & Porthcothen is no exception which makes phoning for taxis, restaurants, contacting friends etc a pain, also with no Wifi connection, I believe Lee is considering installing broadband for the future which would be a bonus, but maybe not for those wishing to escape technology. In spite of the good directions given to get there we managed to pass it 3 times as there was no cottage name on the front facing the road only the name on the garage of the next door house. We would have liked to each have bath & hand towels provided, although after enquiring before arrival we were informed to bring our own. Update required: The spec. should read - 2nd Bedroom Twin Bed not Double, .although the photos shows Twin

Owner's reply: Thank you for your comments. We are indeed planning to install wifi for next season although we are informed the cover is somewhat unpredictable!

“Perfect!”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2016

A beautiful and super equipped holiday home, just far enough from an bustle and close enough to many beautiful beaches. My 3 & 6 year old boys utterly loved the cottage and asked if we could move to Cornwall. Would definitely recommend, easy booking, great help re access and keys. Only tiny comment would be that the main bed as a little hard, but after days on the beach and good wine it didn't bother us that much! Will be back.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind comments, so glad you enjoyed it, love your children's reaction! Kernow seems to grab people like that
