Cornwall, the remote south westerly arm of the UK is a wild beautiful projection of cliffs and deep sandy bays rising from the heaving Atlantic sea. Hillside Cottage is located in North Cornwall in an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) Number 4 which extends from the breathtaking Bedruthan Steps (National Trust) to fishing harbour town of Padstow, and commands fabulous views over fields and hills down to Treyarnon Bay where the superb surfing waves roll deep and long to crash on the fine sand under the protective watch of the teams from the RNLI. A bay full of rock-pools and coves, ideal for evening rounders and football and famous for it's own natural sea swimming pool, deep, transparent and exciting. Walking on round from cove to cove, through spectacular views of ever-changing seas from the breathtaking heights of the coastal paths , the peace broken only by the abundant birdlife; the pleasures of sitting on the quayside at Padstow or Port Isaac with fish and chips or an icecream watching the boats come and go. Explore Padstow with it's history, galleries, shops and and famous restaurants; take a boat-trip or join a fishing expedition; a fascinating but quick visit to the National Lobster Hatchery on the harbour quay-side. At midnight on May 1 st unaccompanied singing outside Church heralds the start of the ancient 'Obby 'Oss festival which lasts the next 24 hours to celebrate MayDay with dancing around the MayPole. Moving on maybe hire a bike and cycle along the Camel Estuary Trail through woodlands and creeks to Wadebridge; and feel the charms of this little and busy Cornish town with its' pubs, cream teas, traditional butcher, cobbled high street and cinema, Get back on the bikes and go all the way to Bodmin with it's folk lore, jail and stories, jump aboard the Wenford and Bodmin Steam Railway for a 13 mile round trip of nostalgia. Spend an absorbing day at Lanhydrock (National Trust) for English culture, history and fulfillment for gardening enthusiasts. Similarly Cotehele with it's charming gardens or Trerice with its abundant coastal garden of Rhodedendra. On further to Tintagel where the Castle is believed to have been the birth place of King Arthur - his sword Excaliber was buried in a stone at near-by Camelford. Close by the North Cornwall Heritage Archeological Camp researches Roman dwellings, visitors are welcome. Cultural history of the bread and butter of the cornish people is embodoed in the tin mines and the spectacular ruins at Botallck near St Agnes are now a Unesco World Heritage Site and protected for us by the National Trust.

"Brilliant location, comfortable and relaxing"
Stayed for a week when we had family visiting from New Zealand. Everyone loved the light / airy feel of the house and the short distance to the beach made it great for walks and running. Kitchen was well equipped but having lots of good local restaurants ensured we didn't use it much. One of the few nights we did cook we BBQ'd on the deck watching the sun set.... lovely!

"Great location, with well-equipped and comfortable accommodation"
We spent a lovely week at Hillside in early June. The house is in a great location, within walking distance to the beach and short drives of lots of attractions in this area of Cornwall. The house is very spacious and had everything we needed for our week (6 adults + an 18 month old). One of the best holiday homes I've stayed in. Katie, the owner, is also extremely helpful providing lots of excellent info on things to do in the area, as well as wanting to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

The lovely cottage was well beyond our expectations, spotlessly clean, very well equipped and very spacious. Set in a beautiful countryside location with fantastic views yet only a short distance to stunning beaches and local shops and restaurants. Lots of lovely walks for the outdoor type.

"The perfect cornish getaway"
What a fabulous place. I went with 2 girlfriends and thier sons for a break after the Easter holidays. The house is in a fabulous location..adjacent to a farmers field which the boys had a ball in and only 5 mins walk from the local beach and a further 5 to Constatine bay which is truly stunning. The whole coastline in that area is wild and beautiful and peppered with lovely villages and towns, we were never short of things to do and see. Particular highlights include lunch at Jamie olivers restaraunt fifteen in Watergate bay (gorgeous) and the Eden project. I also really loved st Ives but the boys were less impressed with mooching around art galleries!!!! The house itself is spacious, bright, well equiped, very warm and has a great view from every room. We loved it and hope to return the same time next year!!
