Capel Cartref is a newly renovated chapel offering a unique and luxurious space for holidaymakers. The chapel provides a warm and welcoming haven. The gallery hosts a vaulted ceiling with original beams. Pews have been reclaimed and used around the chapel as window sills, kitchen cornices and window shutters. The chapel has been finished to a very high specification with all of the comforts of home. Breakfast and dining can be held in the spacious modern kitchen or on the decked veranda which overlooks the trout filled River Twrch - maybe catch your supper but look out for the herons! Capel Cartref suits people who wish to walk, sightsee, (Brecon, numerous waterfalls, the beachers of The Gower and Swansea Bay, Black Mountains, Afan Park) cycle, fish, play golf, pony trek or just kick back and take in a movie on DVD on the 42" plasma. This is the perfect accommodation for family reunions... a spacious property to spend time together without getting under each others feet.

Capel Cartref is a holiday accommodation and is therefore available for short term lettings consisting of weekends or weekly bookings. The rental cost includes laundry, towels, hot water and heating - please bring your own beach towels. 40% deposit required and final payment to be concluded 3 weeks prior to holiday date. A welcome pack will be provided, detailing specifics about the chapel, ie use of heating, cooker plus details of local attractions such as Afan Park, Brecon Beacons, local waterfalls, black mountains, Aberdulair Falls, Pony Trekking, local golf courses and much more. People who wish to take their dogs on holiday are made welcome at Capel Cartref. The dogs must be well supervised and only permitted downstairs

Getting around

Ideally, guests will have a car in order to make travelling easier. There is a train station in Neath and Swansea but the bus runs only once daily to Neath from Cwmtwrch and so a taxi would most likely be necessary. Most of the places to visit are over a 15 minute drive away. If people want to walk, there are local walks but the best views and experiences, i.e. for waterfalls, rocks, etc. are a further distance away and so require a vehicle. Motorbiking is great in South Wales as lots of the roads covering the Black Mountains and Brecon are unhindered by traffic lights etc.

Interaction with guest

Prior to a persons visit to Capel Cartref, information of recommended places to visit is passed on via email. Visitors are also provided with access details and the pin number for the key pad, in order that they retrieve the keys and enter the chapel independently. Once the guest has arrived and is settled in, there is only interaction between us if there is an emergency.

House rules

Where we welcome groups to the chapel, we would also appreciate that the neighbours are respected by keeping the noise down, especially throughout the summer evenings as the sound carries across the river. With regards to smoking, we do not encourage it within the house but accept that people may want to smoke out in garden. This would be ok so long as people safely extinguish the cigarette and dispose of the butts appropriately and NOT in the river. Thank you

“Beautiful chapel”

We all enjoyed our time at the chapel for our family Christmas. The kitchen was well equipped with nearly everything we needed. The bedrooms were a good size and comfortable beds. The dining table was just about big enough for 9 of us. However we put another small table at the end and it was prefect. The Christmas tree was beautiful and the other small touches of Christmas around. We would rebook the chapel if we were staying in South Wales again.

“Charming, clean and well resourced”

Marnie was an absolute pleasure to deal with, before, during and after our stay. The Chapel was beautiful, sensitively converted and clean as a whistle... well located we made it to the BBeacons and to the beach and then did walks from the front door on our final day. We cooked in and went to a local (0.8m away) pub and loved that there was every pot, pan and cafetière we could have wished for. Great value, awesome space, brilliantly friendly and well located. Don’t hesitate - just go.

“Great New Year’s family get-away!”

We stayed at Capel Cartref from 29/12 to 2/01 to celebrate the new year. There was 10 of us in total: 6 adults and 4 children. We had a great time and enjoyed spending quality family time together. The accommodation was perfect for us and it had everything we needed. Very well equipped and extremely clean. Spacious areas and totally perfect for a family getaway. Marnie was very informative and kept in touch during our stay making sure everything was ok. I loved the added touch of the Christmas tree and decorations,which made it feel very cosy and festive. I could not fault it and I would definitely recommend this holiday letting to anyone in the future. Thank you for making our New Years celebrations special.

“First Class”

A great place to stay, the accommodation was superb and obviously completed to a high standard. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of crockery and glasses, every room was very clean and well laid out. We had elderly people in our party who needed ground floor accommodation and this with a downstairs wet room was superb. The only slight improvements we could recommend would be that one of the down stairs beds and the downstairs toilet would be better a little higher, one of our elderly guests found it a struggle to get in and out of bed. But we would definitely like to stay here again and would like to thank the hosts for the use of this high standard accommodation .

“Fantastic Place”

Beautiful Capel Cartref! We have had the most wonderful holiday in this converted Capel! very spacious. Comfortable. Best equipped kitchen in a holiday let I've seen! Very well maintained and spotlessly clean! Huge lounge with big tele, loads of books and games, It was scorching hot weather so it was lovely to sit out on the decking in comfortable rattan chairs and listen to the stream babbling by. We would love to go again, we highly recommend it,

Beautifully renovated chapel, spacious and stunning interior. Perfect for large gatherings. Spent my 30th here, and had an excellent time. Close to top class mountain biking and amazing beaches. Nice local pubs within walking distance. Marnie was very welcoming and attentive as a host, promptly answering any questions and providing loads of useful information. All in all, highly recommended!

“Home from home perfect rental for my birthday celebrations”

We have just returned from our second time staying here and yet again it has exceeded all expectations. The chapel is a fantastic spot to entertain with beautiful walks on the door step. Plenty of space in the communal rooms (10 of us) and the bedrooms are finished to the highest spec. We will be returning very soon!!!!

How do damage deposits work?
