Location description from owner
The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region
The Turquoise Coast is an unofficial region of Turkey stretching nearly 994 miles along the of Mediterranean shore from Marmaris to Antalya. A stunning coastline with a wealth of ancient history. Places of interest include Saklikent Gorge, the sunken city of Kekova, the idyllic Kaputas beach and the world famous Patara beach famous for its nesting turtles.
Kalkan is an ancient fishing village that although now a sophisticated and unique upmarket resort still retains is quaintness and charm. There are over 150 restaurants offering fine dining in roof top restaurants overlooking the bay and lots of beautiful boutiques and shops offering everything from fine jewelley and designer goods to traditional Turkish arts and crafts. The weekly Thursday market is not to be missed and is a colourful mass of goods, spices and fruit and exotic vegetables. The pretty harbour town of Kas is a short bus (Dolmus) ride away and the surrounding hills are famous for their trout farms where you can choose your own fish and have it cooked the way you wish. All in all there is much to see and do and the only downside is that you may not have enough time to experience all this charming place has to offer!

“Fabulous villa, fabulous pool, fabulous roof terrace, fabulous location”
Had a great holiday in this beautiful villa. Immaculately presented with everything you could wish for thought of. The pool was deep and very well maintained with a visit from a "pool guy" daily. The roof terrace was lush and offered a different perspective and great views over Kalkan. Sharon and Rambo who are in Kalkan were knowledgable and very helpful too, arranging water for the cooler (that was a great thing to have) and suggesting restaurants. A daily delivery of fresh bread was a nice touch too. 3 rooms all with their own bathroom so perfect for 3 couples giving privacy for all and the rest of the villa had enough space to be together or again have some space. A great week in a beautiful part of the world in perhaps the nicest villa I've ever rented. I can wholeheartedly thoroughly recommended this villa - thank you Chrissy who also arranged the seamless transfers.
Oh what can I say to such a glowing review except a warm thank you and I hope that your comments will encourage anyone wanting to visit Kalkan to choose Villa Sovalye as the best place to stay.
“Exceptional accommodation in a great location”
We have been twice to Villa Sovalye, and both times we have not been disappointed. The villa itself is very well equipped if you wish to do all your own cooking, as well as an easy walk into Kalkan for groceries, fabulous butchers and green grocery. The gardens surrounding the villa are very pleasant whether enjoying a day poolside, or dining in the evening. Alternatively there is the fabulous roof top terrace, including ottoman. All in all if we didn't find the Villa Sovalye a great place for a holiday we wouldn't have returned. And yes we would book again. Chrissy has been most helpful from the beginning, not to mention her caretakers.
We are so pleased you chose to stay at Villa Sovalye yet again which says a lot when there are so many villas in Kalkan. We would love to welcome you back anytime.
“A beautiful villa in a lovely resort”
This was our first visit to Kalkan and we had a fantastic holiday staying at Villa Sovalye. From our first enquiry Chrissy could not have been more helpful returning answers to our questions promptly and sorting out transfers to and from the Airport. The Villa itself was immaculate with everything you could wish for a comfortable stay. The water cooler and deliveries of water bottles (and fresh bread) by the caretaker was an absolute blessing in the hot weather. We spent the majority of our time relaxing around the pool which was very peaceful and the garden area was beautiful. In the evenings we would spend a lot of time in the Ottoman located on the roof terrace which had wonderful views and a cooling breeze. The location of the villa was perfect for us and in walking distance of bus station, market, shops and restaurants. We have stayed in a lot of villas and this was definitely one of the best. A perfect villa and perfect holiday.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. It is so nice to hear that others love the villa as much as we do. We do hope you will visit again and we would love to welcome you back.
This is our fifth trip to Kalkan but our first time in Villa Sovalye. What a beautiful villa. More like staying in a friends house than a rental villa. The villa has a really mature feel with a great garden. Add to that Wi-fi for the kids and Ipod doc.The pool area is immaculate and Veysel takes his caretaker duties very seriously and arrives every day with fresh bread. Whilst the pool loses sun around 5.00 this really isn't an issue as its a welcome breather from the intense summer sun and the roof terrace has sun right through the evening. If you know Kalkan the villa is a 3 minute walk from the Kalamar Rd and another 10 mins into town but all pretty flat by Kalkan standards. Supermarkets are a 10 minute walk. It is in a quiet area with a residential feel so if you love peace this could be the villa for you. Finally...Chrissy. I had to make a late date change and Chrissy was so helpful. All in all, a five star experience. The Springall Family: July 2013
It's good to know we are getting it right! Thank you for your great review and you are welcome back any time.
“Lovely Villa in Kalkan”
Villa Sovalye was all I had hoped it to be. The location is quiet and has great views. Its about an 8 minute walk to the top of the main Kalkan drag and another 5 mins down to the harbour. We found the walk there and back easy.... of course Kalkan is hilly but this is no bother for most people. The villa itself is great. Two large bedrooms upstairs with comfortable beds and good air con. Another bedroom downstairs off the main sitting room. All appliances are there.... TV has several english channels such as BBC world and eurosport and CNN. Pool area is lovely. Gets the sun all day up until about 5pm and then you can go up to the wonderful roof terrace for the final couple of hours. Dealing with the owner Chrissy was quick and efficient and all payment sorted out easily. Chrissy also sorted out Airport transfers for us (£60 each way). We have been to Kalkan several times and this is the first time we booked a villa direct. Would definately do so again and likely to book Villa Sovalye - great value for May for so much space and privacy. Thanks Chrissy!!
Thank you for your great comments and we are so pleased the villa lived up to all your expectations. We would love to welcome you back anytime.
“Relaxation in the extreme”
Chrissy was easy to deal with throughout the booking. The villa has very easy entertaining space and we particularly liked the pool terrace. I also have to mention the beautiful garden and the views. The ottoman seating area on the roof terrace provides privacy and is a nice touch. It is situated further than I thought it would be from the lovely old town of Kalkan so some people would want to take advantage of the excellent taxi option instead of walking back home. This was our third visit to Kalkan and we will definitely visit again.
“Beautiful villa, fantastic holiday.”
Service from start to finish was excellent, fantastic communication from Chrissy the owner, airport transfers very good and then we were looked after extremely well by Veysel the caretaker. The villa was beautiful and we had everything we wanted. We used the pool all the time especially after a very hot walk up the hill, although we did get a taxi once when we had been to the supermarket, this was very cheap. The Ottoman was lovely to sit in the evening, this gave us a cooling breeze and also a great view to look at. Kalkan itself was picturesque and the locals were very friendly. The food was delicious and very cheap. All the beachclubs were easy to get to and had really comfortable sunbeds. Fantastic holiday, didn't want to leave.
Kalkan is the jewel in the crown and I hope it stays just as it is because it is the perfect blend of kind and friendly people, plenty to do, marvellous restaurants, fabulous beaches within driving distance, lovely streets , interesting little shops, fabulous butchers and greengrocers in the centre of Kalkan, fabulous boat trips- I could go on. The villa was really well equipped, spacious, light, good storage, lovely lounge area, three floors, great bedrooms and bathrooms, all immaculate, wonderful ottoman for the teenagers to hang out in undisturbed by parents, lovely pool, fresh bread brought every morning by Vaisel who is so helpful. You could spend two weeks just relaxing at the villa it is such a haven but we alternated this with travelling about, we visited Pataras beach and ruins, Sakklikent gorge (wow), Kas, trout restaurants in Islamlar and Kalamar beach club in Kalkan where my husband and son did scuba diving. We have stayed in many villas over the years- this one was faultless and nestled within Kalkan we could not have wished for more. Chrissy was amazingly helpful-she answered every question and when i approached her she gave advice and suggestions before we left and nothing was too much trouble. This glowing reference for her, the villa and the place itself are all well deserved. 100%
“All fell in love with the beautiful pool area and rooftop terrace”
Great week in this lovely villa. The pool area is stunning. The Turkish Ottoman is a wonderful and unique feature which everyone enjoyed. Location is good. Every now and then we did opt for taxis when returning from the town to the villa because it is quite far up a steep hill. But then again, hills cannot really be avoided in Kalkan. Area surrounding the villa felt a little underdeveloped but there were already signs of roads being surfaced, rubble being removed. The owner is extremely professional and helpful, arranging transfers to and from the airport, providing useful and detailed information about the villa and Kalkan more generally, and responding promptly to any queries and/or requests. Wonderful holiday had by all! We would happily return to this villa, primarily for the great pool area (with sun until 4ish) and rooftop terrace.
“Heaven on earth”
This is our 6th visit to Kalkan and 2nd visit to this villa which says a lot in itself. Chrissy is very helpful and friendly during the entire holiday process from booking, to handy hints and booking cars. The villa was fantastic as before, it met all our needs! Travelling with parents and husband the villa gave us plenty of space whethher it was on the roof terrace or relaxing by the pool. We were very well looked after by Vysel, who comes in daily to clean the pool and deliver a fresh loaf of bread for breakfast. You feel you are one of the family!! We love Kalkan as you can tell from the amount of visits, we just hope we can continuing going and it doesn't lose its small village charm!!
