Location description from owner

The Turkish Mediterranean Coast region

Kalkan is a beautiful and sophisticated, bougainvillea covered harbour village set in the heart of the old Lycian region. It is cosmopolitan, with good quality restaurants and great places to stay. The Taurus Mountains – home to the nearby rural escape of Islamlar – provide a stunning backdrop, whilst the views across the bay are remarkable.

Patara’s spectacular sandy beach, the much photographed Kaputas beach, Saklikent gorge, the sunken city of Kekova, and ancient historical sites such as Xanthos, Letoon, Tlos, Myra and Kayakoy and the outstanding beauty of Olu Deniz offer the discerning traveller many opportunities to delve into the history and beauty of Kalkan and its surrounding areas.

The nearby town of Kas has just opened its spectacular marina with boutique shops and restaurants. For travelling further afield, you can catch a ferry from the old harbour to the Greek island of Meis - don't forget your passport!

Horse Riding, paragliding, gorge walking, mountain biking and canoeing can be booked with us prior to departure or in resort for those wishing to sample the sporting life.

Winding cobbled streets of Old Kalkan Town offer many individual shops including boutiques, jewellery, art, bags, shoes and traditional Turkish ware. These colourful shops and excellent restaurants and bars are combined with stunning views; whether you are looking up to the dramatic mountains behind the town, or down across the harbour to the broad sweep of the Mediterranean – the view of which, we guarantee, will never tire you!

The standard of dining in Kalkan is a wonderful surprise. Kalkan hosts approx 160 restaurants of which many offer rooftop, outside and harbourside dining and have seated rattan areas or Turkish Ottomans for enjoying cocktails, coffees or after dinner drinks.

Kalkan is a beautiful uncommercialised fishing port which attracts the sophisticated traveller. Its abundance of restaurants and wealth of historical places to visit leave a lasting impression of most visitors wanting to return to this idyllic beautiful place. A private cruise of the coastline offers a spectacular day out for all the family offering swimming in the crystal clear water whilst anchored in the bays. This can be prebooked with us prior to your arrival should you require. We can recommend taxi firms and we offer competitive car hire rates.

The friendliness and hospitality of the Turkish people embraces you during your stay in Kalkan and leaves a definite impression at the end of a wonderful holiday.

“Fantastic villa”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2015

We had a great holiday at serenity villa. It is a wonderful place and has everything you need for a great holiday. The pool is fab and the views each morning cannot be beaten. Kalkan town is pretty and all the restaurants serve great food, we did not have a bad meal there. We hired a gullet for a day and would recommend. It is about a 25 min walk into town and the roads are very uneven so we usually got a cab instead most days. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here. It is amazing. Go and enjoy

Knew the villa would be good from the photos but it surpassed expectations. Absolutely can't fault anything. The infinity pool is magical day or night. All the rooms have stunning views. Kalikan itself has excellent restaurants. Gironda, Doy Doy, Aubergine and Kalamaki highly recommended. Had Kazim from chefs at home to cook at the villa - again highly recommended. Define Tours organised a private gulet trip on Zeus with captain Ali. One of the best days of my life. I shall never forget it. Brave tours collect you from airport in an air conditioned car with bottles of water - lovely touch. And as for the owners you couldn't get nicer more caring and helpful people. I threw nearly every question at them and they answered everyone. This villa is such a find. Enjoy. I am just jealous I'm not back there.

“Absolutely outstanding in every way!”

The ease of booking through to arriving at the villa were nothing like we had experienced before. We were picked up at the airport and transported directly to the villa door, the local agent looking after the villa, Billy, was there as we arrived and was incredibly helpful showing us around. The hire car arrived at the villa bang on 9am the following day. The organisation made travelling with 3 children aged 3-10 an absolute breeze. The villa itself is breath-taking and stunningly appointed. The views over the harbour and Kalkan town (in particular over the infinity pools!) will keep you transfixed, utterly beautiful. My wife and I will never forget waking up to that spectacular view everyday! I cannot speak highly enough of this villa, it is simply the best we have stayed in. Kalkan itself is a lovely small town with plenty of quality restaurants; the locals absolutely love children and ours were blown away by the friendliness and attention they (and we for that matter!) received. Location wise it is perfect with sandy beaches just minutes away (and almost completely empty during our stay, which averaged around 28 degrees every day in late October). Driving there is simple as long as you keep your eye on the mopeds! The ruins and beaches at Patara (about 10 minutes drive away) are an absolute must. Restaurant recommendations include Coast, Aubergine and the Korsan Terrace Fish Restaurant; all looked after our children well and offered smaller portions of the mains to avoid the standard children's menu. I can honestly say this was one of the best holidays my family and I have had; I would not hesitate to recommend this villa and we WILL return next year!

“Fantastic!! You will not be disappointed!”

We travelled to Kalkan at the end of September as 2 couples with 2 children under 1 and stayed at the Serenity Villa II. From the moment we made our reservation Tracey was very prompt and helpful to ensure that all of our questions and requests beforehand were dealt with smoothly. We were impressed before we even arrived which made us look forward to our holiday all the more. Our transfer that was arranged by the villa with Brave Tours also went without a hitch. Upon arriving at the villa you are met with a definite wow factor! The villa and its view are breath-taking and throughout our stay we never tired of it. Billy the property manager was there to meet us and was great at settling us in for our holiday and even brought us fresh bread every day! He answered any questions we had and was always only a phone call away, a great touch to receiving a first class service. He also referred us to a taxi driver that looked after us for the duration of our stay and he was a real find, whenever we called he was there in 5 minutes! The villa really cannot disappoint, with its pools, Jacuzzi and hot tubs we felt so relaxed despite having the little ones with us and we never got bored with a gym, childrens pool, and playstation and pool table for the dads too. The town of Kalkan really impressed us and was a beautiful spot. You are really spoilt for choice for restaurants all the way down to the harbour and we were particularly impressed with Kosk and Aubergine. Chilli's was great and café Leon has a great menu for a quick bite. The staff are fantastic with children too and bent over backwards to keep them entertained and/or help us enjoy our evening. There is also a nearby sandy beach which is also definitely worth a visit, the sea is amazing and very inviting! We also visited the local Turkish bath which was a lovely experience. All in all I can thoroughly recommend this villa if you're thinking of booking. The property speaks for itself and the pictures don't do it justice but the little touches really make it special too. We would love to return some time in the future!

“Absolutely lived up to expectations and photos! Excellent”

Serenity1 was a perfect villa for 3 couples! We were parents with 2 daughters and their boyfriends and had lots of space to be together and independent. From the welcome to the departure all our needs were met: Billy was brilliant and responsive: house high quality throughout and of course the amazing views. The owner and manager made this a very easy and chilled holiday which was just what we needed! Would love to return.

“beautiful villa with helpful owner and property manager”

Serenity 2 is a fantastic villa and perfect for what we were looking for. As a group of 10 friends looking for a relaxing Summer holiday in the sun, we couldn't have asked for more. From first getting in touch with the owner, she was incredibly helpful - sending over helpful information, arranging transfers and helping one of our party who was arriving separately. The villa itself is near perfect. The photos give a good representation of what to expect but really have to see it to appreciate it. I don't think I can add much more than what others have said here - it really is a great place to stay and it could often be hard to drag ourselves away and into town. Billy, the property manager in Kalkan was more than helpful. He really couldn't do enough to help us - bringing water, giving reccommendations and even giving us a lift in his car. Nothing was too much trouble and his help made a massive difference. The only real negative for some people could be the distance from town. It's a good 20 minute walk, even at a realtively brisk pace. With the villa being set quite a way up a hill, it'd take even longer to walk back up! We resorted to taxis every time - they're relatively inexpensive though so it's not too bad. All in all, a wonderful experience. Highly reccommended and really good value too.

“One word... Fantastic”

We visited the villa as a large family of 12 to celebrate some special birthdays. 21st, 50th and 80th, we wanted somewhere special that would be suitable for all the age groups and Serenity villa 2 exceeded all of our expectations! From the moment we arrived at the airport we were all overwhelmed with how helpful and accommodating our transfer driver was providing us with cold bottles of water and cold cloths. The 1hr 30 mins transfer was comfortable and went really quickly (Brave tours). Upon arriving at the villa we were all so gob smacked as to how amazing the view were and how magnificent the living room / kitchen was when we first walked into the villa. The property manager Billy showed us round and answered any questions we had (lovely chap, extremely helpful) and he provided us with a turkish mobile incase we had any questions and delivered water for the water cooler whenever we needed. Every room was immaculate and had an amazing view. The infinity pool, jacuzzi, pool table and ping pong kept all ages occupied during the day and we made use of the fantastic BBQ on some of the evenings. I would recommend booking a boat trip from the harbour, as we were a family of 12 we could hire one exclusively to ourselves (yildiz 2) which was a great day and got to cover ourselves in mud on one of the beaches. All in all we had an amazing holiday and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone, we will certainly be revisiting.

“A stunning contemporary villa with incredible views, finished to a very high standard.”

Serenity II is an exceptional contemporary villa, tastefully decorated and furnished with magnificent views of Kalkan - probably the best we have ever stayed in. On arrival, we were greeted by Billy, the manager, who turned out to be very professional, helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble - he booked boat trips and recommended restaurants for us and generally gave us great advice on our first visit to Kalkan - an extremely likeable guy. The villa was absolutely pristine and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in and the fridge was well stocked when we arrived with fruit, beer, wine, jam, milk and all the necessities required for the first few days. Fresh bread was delivered every day by Mustapha, who also did a great job of keeping the pool and all outside areas clean and tidy. Swimming in the infinity pool was an experience in itself - beautifully clean with incredible views looking out over Kalkan and the sea. Our bed was really comfortable and I don't think we closed the blinds once - waking up to the stunning view every morning was a real treat! All in all, our stay at Serenity II was an amazing experience and we cannot recommend it highly enough - top notch!!

“Wonderful modern luxurious villa..!”

We stayed for 10 days ( 3 families ) and all had a fantastic holiday. The villa is simply fantastic...stunning views, wonderful outdoor spaces and a great BBQ and al fresco eating area. The pool is a really good size and excellent for working off the food and drink...and nobody floated away over the infinity end...! Bedrooms were beautiful with amazing sized beds..!! Balconies all command great views... Quite honestly difficult to fault the villa..we'd go back in a flash..!

“Stunning Villa!”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2012

Recently returned from a week at Serenity II - a fantastic villa with the most amazing views. Prior to booking this villa I did an awful lot of research to find the perfect place to stay that would suit our party of varying ages from 9 years to 76! My search also incorporated several countries including Spain, France, Italy, Croatia and Greece. It is difficult to find a property of this standard and price in other countries so we finally agreed on Turkey and Serenity II. The villa is simply stunning and is perfect for a large group - it's very spacious and we never felt on top of each other. There are various levels outdoors and we all had our favourite spots. The view from all rooms is really lovely both in the day and the evening. The modern interiors are a high standard and the villa has a bit of a 'Miami south beach' relaxed vibe to it. You can walk into Kalkan in about 15 minutes (although perhaps not recommended in very high shoes!). It's best to get a taxi back up the hill! Taxi's are plentiful and not expensive. We dined in several restaurants in Kalkan including Salt & Pepper, Aubergine and Trio and found them all to be excellent in terms of quality of food and value. We also hired a boat for the day and cruised around the bay/surrounding islands and would highly recommend doing this, it was so relaxing. The locals in Kalkan were so friendly and the service was excellent. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Serenity II, it certainly lives up to the photos and was even more than we expected. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly when making my reservation and responded very promptly to all pre-holiday queries I had. All members of our party loved the holiday and we hope to return to Serinity II in the not too distant future.
