Luz is a friendly village with lots of good restaurants, bars and shops and a beautiful paved promenade lined with palm trees leading down to the gorgeous sandy blue flag beach.
Local activities include cliff & coastal paths, tennis, horse riding, cycling, football, all kinds of water sports, dolphin, whale watching & grotto trips. Visits to Splash World and Zoo Marine are popular with children. This is a terrific base for golf enthusiasts being minutes away from Boa Vista Golf , Espiche Golf and further west the Santo Antonio Golf (formerly Parque da Floresta) courses.
Nearby, the attractive regional capital, Lagos, surrounded by ancient walls and much evidence of its historic significance, is a hive of activity with a fabulous daily fish market, farmers market, shops, cafes, bars and nightclubs as well as a marina, zoo and superb beaches.

The other two bedrooms, located beside the main bathroom, have twin beds and each has a small veranda with village views . A well-equipped kitchen it is ideal for families and golfers with lots to do in the area.

The village has supermarkets, pharmacy, health shop and clothes and gift shops, as well as a post office, banks, dentist and an international medical centre. Everything in the village is within walking distance so you do not need a car.
There are two water sports facilities at Luz beach offering tuition for young and old. Also available is tennis, cycle hire, golf, coastal walking and nature walks.
Lagos is 8 km away, about 5 minutes by car, and there is a cheap and frequent bus service from Luz to Lagos and other beaches nearby. Lagos has a wonderful waterside promenade, a marina and is flanked by lovely beaches on either side. The old city walls are virtually intact and they contain a myriad of narrow paved and cobbled streets many of which are lined with shops, restaurants and cafe bars which spill out onto the pavement.
Lagos reveals many layers of history and you can visit ancient churches, forts and a former slave market and imagine the Portuguese sailors setting sail in the from here in the 1400s to discover the Americas. Nearby Lagos Zoo is a hit with children, and there are several water parks and Zoo Marine about 30 minutes drive the east.
If you decide to hire a car you will have the chance to see the wonderful coastline to the west with huge cliffs, often towering over beautiful sandy coves and beaches, pretty fishing villages and some brilliant little restaurants serving fresh local fish, meats and wines.

This spacious 3-bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment in the Vilas das Acacias 1 complex has fabulous sea views and everything you need to ensure a terrific holiday!
This lovely apartment has a south-west facing veranda and delightful furnishings and it is very well-maintained and well-loved. The foyer and public areas area are also kept in pristine condition and you can use either stairs or an elevator to the apartment which is on the second floor. There are four blocks in this small complex, and each consists of ground floor, first and second floor, and all apartments have intercom entry.
As well as fantastic sea views, the apartment overlooks the fabulous pool area which has a large pool and paddling pool and large areas for sunbathing with lots of sun loungers and is bordered by well-tended gardens with pretty shrubs.
On entering the apartment the large lounge/dining room is on the left with patio doors to a sunny veranda with gorgeous sea views. The lounge has soft couches, flat screen satellite TV and a DVD player and there is a large dining table with seating for 6 people. Wi fi is available on request via a mobile router for a nominal charge.
