“Solitude” We are back again, this time was just as good as the first time, if not better, as the work done to the property enhances it further. We stayed in the master bedroom, which has a new en-suite. The views of Faro and surrounding area from the bed or balcony are spectacular at dawn, daytime or dusk.
A visit to one of the local markets and also the Roman ruins at Estoi, are well worth it.
We spent most of the time sunbathing at the poolside in the beautiful, hidden and quiet surroundings.
There are plenty of supermarkets if you wanted to cater for yourself,as the kitchen is well equipped, however there are also numerous places to eat, Traditional fish restaurants, Indian, Chinese, including an Italian ( my favourite ) in Santa Barbara de Nexe,
Looking forward to our next stay in the near future.
“A Small Piece Of Heaven” The minute you arrive at Ninho do Amor, expertly owned and managed by Karl and Daph, you feel at home and as part of their family. This was our third visit and yet again it did not disappoint: the peace and quiet, the relaxed atmosphere and the unbelieveable sweeping views from the garden and pool area out over the Algarve coastline.
Due to location, you do need a car but everwhere is accesible in a very short space of time.
This trip saw my wife and I take the opportunity to visit the Alentajo and Douro Valley but there was nothing like 'coming home to The Nest'.
Ninho do Amor has everytrhing and more for the holidaymaker who likes the independance of self catering but with the facilities of a very high standard hotel to match.
But you know what makes this place so special? ...... the kindness and friendleness of two special people, the owners Karl and Daph.
Will we be back? - you bet!

If the idea of exploring further afield appeals, you’ll find that much of the Algarve is accessible from Faro, making it a great base for exploring the region.
By night, party on Rua do Prior, the main bar street. There's a bar to suit every taste, with some particularly interesting themes, such as an Iron Maiden themed bar!

ALGARVE FARO Cosy Home 4B
There were four of us renting the apartment in Faro, Portugal. It was a lovely three bedroom apartment (one en suit). Two rooms had double bed and one had a single bed with pull out single underneath. We didn't cook when we were there but we did use the dishwasher and washing machine. It was great having the enclosed balcony on either side of the apartment as the clothes dried very quickly. It was also excellent to have WiFi in the apartment. There is a supermarket 2 min walk away or a Lidl about 7 min walk away. Since the hospital is close by there are bus stops around the corner from the apartment. We, however, always walked to and from the apartment. At a leisurely pace it would take a maximum of 20 min to get to the cafes and bus/train station from the apartment. The transport is very easy to use but it does not run late into the evening. (For some return journeys from neighbouring towns the last bus could be as early as 1730 or 1930). It was very easy to get to the apartment from the airport. Just get the number 16 bus from the second bus shelter outside the terminal (2.25 Euros one way) and it will take you directly to the bus terminal in Faro. From there, using Google maps it is easy to walk to the apartment. Nathalia was lovely and met us at the apartment with the key and was very happy for us to contact her if there was any need to. …
Casa Estrela, Beautiful Algarve Villa
Outstanding villa with breathtaking views
An easy drive from Faro Airport, this is our second visit to Casa Estrela and it felt so good to be back again. In beautiful surroundings and a peaceful area, Casa Estrela is perfect for groups - in our case 5 adults and 3 children. The property is spacious, very well equipped and the views from the pool area, balconies and terraces towards the coast are stunning morning, noon and night. Lovely beaches within a 20 minute drive and plenty of restaurants within easy reach by car too. …
Marina Parque (CD 83), a few steps from the marina
Accommodation superb. Family holiday with youngest at 19. Right on the marina with pool less than 5 mins away and beach a leisurely 15 mins walk.No sun beds available at pool due to mid September but still very relaxing. Beach fantastic. Apartment really good and easily catered for the 6 of us. All staff from reception to departure and mid week towel change just so friendly and helpful. No Wi-Fi in apartment though and would be a great enhancement. We'd definitely return and highly recommended. …
Beach Apart. 3km from Airport
We had an amazing time here at new year, just a few steps from the apartment and you were on the beach.
It was the best New Year’s Day we have had, with a long walk along to the end of the un spoilt faro beach to then have drinks and lunch on the balcony. If you don’t want to cook the lovely restaurant downstairs will serve you on the balcony. All in all it was a momorable stay.......only wish I’d brought a wet suit to catch some of the waves. …

Lovely Apartment, Faro City Centre
The name says it all!
Lovely Apartment is just that. It is clean, comfortable and extremely convenient. We stayed six days and just used ferries and trains to get about. The Apartment is on the fourth floor with all round views over the city. Don't worry about steps - there is a dinky little lift which gets you and your luggage up and down! It is spacious and well equipped though it is unlikely that you will do much cooking with so many wonderful restaurants within a short distance.
The ferries to the Barrier Islands (Deserta and Culata) are within five minutes walk. There is considerable competition for the various ferry and trip permutations but we found the hop-on/hop-off to the islands gives maximum flexibility. You really do need to spend time on the islands to fully appreciate their character and charm.
The railway station (train fares are very cheap in Portugal) is barely 15 minutes away and with a roughly hourly service along the Algarve Coast in each direction you can really explore the coast. For those interested in wildlife there are many possibilities but one of the most interesting options is to take the train to the little station at Mexilhoera Grande near Lagos and walk down the lanes to the Alvor estuary. It is about two miles each way and almost guarantees sightings of bee-eaters, hoepoes, flamingos and spoonbills as well as a huge variety of flowering plants.
The bus station is close to the railway station and offers additional travel possibilities.
The owner Catarina is extremely helpful and is very prompt in responding to any pre-visit questions about the Apartment, how to find it. She is readily available by phone, email or Whatsapp.
We would thoroughly recommend this Apartment. …
