The Treebog/washroom a few feet from the Hut houses a washbasin feed by rainwater and caters for simple toilet and washing needs (see photos). Rebecca has her own private patio area overlooking stream and mountain - rural, peaceful and private.

Ideal for walking, birdwatching, reading, painting/drawing, dreaming, stargazing, writing, romantic break, retreat or simply getting away from it all.

Please note: this simple accommodation - no electricity, no hot running water, no fridge. We provide a freezer box with ice packs from our freezer if required. Water for cooking, washing-up etc is from our own spring via an outdoor tap: we provide bottled spring water for drinking if you prefer. Bathing can be done in the Treebog using kettle heated water - or you might like to take a bath in the stream. Lighting is battery lanterns, LED lights, torches, safe candles.

There is a firepit for bonfires just outside the Hut.

Location description from owner

The Wales region

Pembrokeshire with its long and lovely coastline and wild hill areas is West Wales' jewel in the crown, boasting an exhilarating mix of outdoor pursuits, entertainment, gourmet culinary delights and peace and solitude. It caters for walkers, swimmers, sea sports, cycling, nature lovers, birdwatchers - and on top of all that there is wide range of culture, festivals and entertainment - many more than can be listed here. All towns have a Tourist Office with all the information you need about what to do in Pembrokeshire.

The Pembrokeshire National Park protects the beauty of the famous Coast path and the many unspoilt beaches of the coast and the wild, rugged Preseli Hills which stretch from Crymych to Dinas (www.pembrokeshirenationalpark.com).

There are two marine nature reserves, Skomer and Skokholm, which can be visited by ferry, as can Caldy, the monastery island, a short boat ride from the picturesque seaside and harbour town of Tenby. And of course, Ireland is not far away, just a short hop from Fishguard to Rosslare (you can do a day trip).

St Davids Cathedral, built on the site of a 6th century monastery, is well worth a visit and hosts a cafe and many cultural events.

Smaller towns like Newport (Lou-Lou's Cafe, Llys Meddyg, Cnapan); Cardigan ( The 25 Mile, Cafe Mwldan; and Narberth (PlumVanilla) do well for excellent restaurants /cafes with emphasis on good locally-sourced and often organic food.

The climate is benign: the coastal strip enjoys pleasant weather throughout the year, with plenty of opportunity in the summer for sunbathing, sailing or swimming; the higher hill regions offer a generally slightly cooler temperature perfect for walking.

Clunderwen

Rebecca the Shepherd's Hut is situated in the heart of the Preselis, whose hills stretch from Crymych to Dinas, and whose highest peaks measure 1758 ft, making them officially mountains. The area is pleasingly remote and unspoilt, with much common land (as opposed to heavily farmed areas). There is excellent walking to be done in these hills, and we provide maps of some of the walks you can do. With a mountain bike you can also cycle here using specific routes (www.newportbikehire.com). There are stone circles, standing stones, an iron age fort and many other points of interest in and around these hills: the bluestones of Stonehenge came from Carn Meini, an easy walk from Rebecca. If you google Preselis you will find plenty of interesting information specifically of this area.

It's a great place to come for a holiday/adventure/retreat, well away from the hordes, to recharge tired urban batteries, reconnect with nature or to discover a little-known area great for exploring.
