The climate is unusually temperate Amanteano, thanks to the presence of the Tyrrhenian Sea: the territory of Amantea, in fact, has an average depth of two kilometers inland and winds instead along the sea for over thirteen kilometers. This ensures a long life of good — sometimes the summer season lasts from April to November. Then in the summer are dominant breezes and hilly terrain that refresh the air. Frosts are rare, as well as the snowfalls, caused by the proximity to the coast range inland.

Even In autumn and winter there is the chance to visit such a machine-only now, the nearby mountain of LARGE and small SILA SILA National Parks and various entertainment activities and also for those who want to ski on the snow activities. Always in the autumn-winter seasons you have the chance to taste the many products of the various Festivals and features typical of the place. Castle of Amantea. The Castle dominates the town from the top of the Hill, with the Tower of the keep to the Center and the ruins of the old church of San Francesco d'assisi (perhaps former Mosque) nearby. By Enzo Fera is reconstructed the coastal defence system built between 1100 and 1600 ad there are Numerous, in fact, towers and fortifications which make the district an area very well guarded against the incursions of Barbary pirates.

There are artefacts still intact.

The historic centre of Amantea, clinging to the cliff of the Castle, although not particularly large, it is definitely a great interest for the presence of monumental buildings and great views, for both the characteristics of urban settlement.

The village is situated in a dominant position on the Tyrrhenian Sea and on the alluvial coastal plain: surrounded by walls until the 19th century, the position was one of the most solid of Calabria Citra. Is inevitable so that before the Byzantines, the Arabs, and then decided to fortify this natural Citadel, making the town develop on the steep slope. Before it was opened, in the thirties of the 20th century the old route of Strada statale 18 Tirrena Inferiore, the old town was completely closed to motor traffic. Even in the 21st century the access paths to the ruins of the Castle and the Church of St. Francis of Assisi are dirt paths hardly passable on foot, and a good part of the old town, around the Church of Sant'Elia and the former College of the Jesuits.
