Horse Riding Holiday Accommodation in France - Holiday Lettings
“Recommend a stay in the summer season” Having only visited off season when the village is very quiet and a stay consists of walks, markets, good meals out and cosy evenings, it was great to experience the summer madness. If you ignore the miniature trains , the rest is lovely; bigger markets, quality buskers, shops selling miniature knights Templar, the chance to look around the impressive bastide buildings, and, most importantly the chance for a daily swim in the Dordogne which is 10 minutes away by car, 20 minutes on foot. Read the other review about the noisy neighbours, and thankfully they weren't there during my weeks stay so we enjoyed quiet days and evenings eating dinner in the garden. The house was as comfortable in summer as it had been in winter....a welcome stoney-cool retreat from the heat.
“Very enjoyable holiday. Fab accommodation” Really enjoyed our trip to maison dix Neuf. House is great. Modern downstairs with excellent kitchen. Upstairs full of traditional character. Huge master an suite bedroom. 2 further doubles, one is a mezzanine with low beam so be a bit careful but my son had no issues. We really enjoyed the outside space. Lovely pool with outdoor furniture and tropical garden. Not being a sun lover I enjoyed the summer house for reading in and the part shaded hammock. Jarnac is a lovely town, bit smaller than I thought but quaint. Be aware that a lot if shops close on Mondays as well as Sunday afternoon although the main supermarkets are open and only 5 mins drive. Property is very close to the river charente which is pretty and clean. We enjoyed a couple of sessions kayaking on it which has purpose built rapids for novices. Several cognac houses do tours. Courvoisier is the main one but you pay 9-17 euros for a tour. We did the Hine tour which is free and round the corner. You just need to ring or e mail to arrange. As it's free you can spend the money on the cognac! All in all an excellent holiday. Good communication from Philip the owner. We were met by the house keeper Tracy. She was very helpful. We rang her to get access slightly earlier. As we got there on a Sunday when shops closed she even offered us some of her shopping if we were struggling. If you want to go to this area they I would recommend staying here
“Great place in a great location. Highly recommended” We really enjoyed our stay in Le Plein Soleil. The apartment was very stylish, had all the things we needed (even the bathrobes), the kitchen was well equipped. It's a spacious place and was good for 5 of us (3 adults + 2 small kids). The apartment is very well located - it takes only 5-10 min to walk to the city centre. We also were positively surprised by a welcome basket with some local food & wine.
“A lovely place to stay in a beautiful area of France.” A group of friends and I have stayed at Barrusclet for a week in each of the last two years.
The farmhouse itself is perfect---comfortable beds, plenty of space,a games room, laundry, lovely grounds for eating outdoors and a heated outdoor pool, well fenced and safety-gated to keep children safe.
The area is beautiful----vineyards and sunflower fields; local chateaux, churches, villages and markets to visit; and the undulating countryside is perfect for stress-free cycling. Canoeing and horse-riding is also nearby.
It's so good----14 of us are going back again this year...!!!
“Easy and Convenient” I visited the apartment with two girlfriends on a ski mini break. The view and location is beautiful and it was so convenient to hop on and off buses to the slopes. Perfect to come back to after a hard day skiing!
