“Peace and tranquility from sunrise to beautiful sunsets” I trust if you are reading this review you have already decided on Northern Cyprus as you are aware of the friendly people, guaranteed sunshine, warm seas, great scenery, beautiful beaches, super food, cheap prices etc etc. I'll stop there because you know that but you may not know of these two studios owned by Jacqui and Ian that stand in the grounds of their lovely garden, in a quiet location on the edge of a ravine between Bellapais and Ozonkoy.
Whether you are enjoying a drink under the shade on the decking or cooling off in the pool you can enjoy views of Bellapais Abbey up to the left, St. Hilarion Castle straight ahead or Kyrenia Harbour down to the right. All are lit up on a night making this a great place to sit and relax after enjoying a lovely evening meal at one of the numerous local restaurants/bars that offer a range of varied cuisines. Jacqui and Ian can provide you with information to assist you to narrow down your options if needed.
They also put us in touch with a very reasonable car hire company that also offer airport transfers if preferred. This property is within a few minutes of many places of interest, amenities and beaches but also far enough away to maintain an air of quiet seclusion, which is why we decided on a car. However the taxis are cheap and we found that many of the restaurants will also offer you a lift back if required, as part of the service.
The two studios are very comfortable, well furnished and spotless on arrival. We have holidayed for the last two years in the "Garden Studio" which has a bit more shade and remains a little cooler. This area is also patrolled by "Ralph the Ravenous" a tortoise who can eat as much salad as you can spare and would give Usain Bolt and run for his money if chopped up cucumber is the prize rather than a gold medal. The "Terrace Studio" affords the views previously mentioned and all day sun, with the pool and studio sun loungers just outside.
After a stay here you feel totally chilled out thanks to the quiet serenity, beautiful surroundings and lovely hosts. We won't be leaving it too much longer before we book again for next year as this place is too nice to remain a secret for ever and looking at the bookings its possibly lost secret status already.
“Amazing” My husband and daughter decided to take a short holiday and started looking on-line until we came across the Luxury penthouse at Akama health farm and spa. A really friendly and quick in keeping in touch owner helped us to book and in no time we were on the road heading towards the luxury resort. The place is really easy to find as it is situated at a fantastic location, of course we had very good directions from the owner as well. The resort offers easy access to Latsi and Polis the two main towns with fantastic beaches and watersports activities. And of course there is an easy access to all the small villages around Drousia. We were really excited to see how well decorated the place is, my daughter who is nine, wants to live n the penthouse, she was amazed by the stylish décor. The place has all the little kitchen utensils a housewife needs in her kitchen so we were able to prepare a small breakfast every morning ( the restaurant was offering breakfast as well but it was a bit expensive, so we prepared our own.) We also loved the Jacuzzi! A technician came to change the water after we requested and showed us how to work the buttons. So in no time we got it ready and working. This is really an amazing way to relax on your roof-garden, we used the Jacuzzi all the time, minimum 2ice daily. We loved how clean the place is and how friendly all the staff were.
There is a lovely swimming pool in the shape of Mickey which is kids friendly and my daughter was so happy playing all day in it. There are two more pools, one for really young kids and one indoor. My husband and I were happy tanning at the deck drinking our beer and freddo. The place offers great destinations for those interested to explore the area and visit some tourist destinations. For those interested to hop around the little villages, there is a rich culture and great Cypriot cuisine.
For those who want to relax and take advantage of the SPA, really good prices and excellent service.
We wish you happy holidays, book now!
“Peaceful, nice views, clean, modern & helpful!” The apartment block is set in a quiet village, a little way from the centre (a few minutes drive, so probably 15 minute walk or so?) It has really nice views of hills and beach/coast in the distance. The village has a supermarket which was reasonably priced too (I hadn't expected this with it being a small village) and some little bars etc, we didn't spend much time there purely due to the self catering holiday we were having and had stocked up on food and drink from the supermarket, but the bars looked really inviting and friendly, quite traditional and I would definitely suggest you try them out!
The block itself was clean and very quiet, I had the pool area pretty much to myself for the most part of the holiday. It was positioned really well and has the sun on it all day. It also has a sauna, gym and toilet block right next to the pool which is really handy. The pool and gym etc was cleaned everyday which was nice to see!
The flat is a studio apartment, nicely decorated and had everything I needed, even beth and beach towels! A friend stayed with me for the first few days and it was spacious enough for two, but I wouldn't have thought it would be comfortable for more than 2, maybe 3. The balcony was really spacious, with a table and chairs to eat and loungers to sunbathe on! Was great for having a drink and listening to some music. The kitchen was pretty small but we managed perfectly well to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday (as well as store and prepare our drinks!!). The rest of the week I stayed on my own but felt very safe as it is such a nice area and the few people I met in the block were very friendly.
The owner of the apartment was staying in the village at the time and couldn't have been more helpful. He was great assistance with transfers and getting us settled in.
I would say it is a great holiday for simply chilling by the pool, relaxing on the balcony and reading etc. and having a wander into the village. I didn't hire a car as I went to the apartment with the intention of not going anywhere else for the week, but you would definitely need a car if you are wanting to get to and from the beach, or carry a lot of shopping etc, as it is driving distance.
I would recommend staying here as it is great value and was just what I needed.
I should also mention the weather was fantastic, it was so hot and got a great tan! :)
“Lovely, spacious studio apartment.” This spacious studio apartment was a delight. On the outskirts of Peyia, which is a lovely, quaint village, it benefits from fabulous views of Coral Bay. The facilities within the apartment are second to none. Wi-fi is laid on along with everything you would expect from a more expensive property. There is a swimming pool two minutes from the apartment with plenty of space to sit around and enjoy the fabulous weather while cooling down with a quick dip. I can't wait for my next visit.
“A great holiday!” This was our second time of staying at the Athenaeum apartments and yet again we have thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The apartment was ideal for what we required and the pool area lovely and quiet. The location is fantastic and just a short walk from the main stretch of restaurants and the harbour. I'm sure we will be returning again in the future!
“Great views, from well equipped apartment” The facilities as advertised are all in place both inside the apartment and within the complex. A great view to the coast every time you raise the blinds or venture onto the veranda. A car is required and although we had some good weather it was of the early season variety, so the home comforts of t.v., dvd and most importantly the wifi for laptop and phone were there in the evenings for us. Although we did not cook a big meal the facilities are available and we cooked something for breakfast every day. Even without the sunshine hours to power the water heater the electric alternative worked well for a power shower or bath. The main street of Peyia is within walking distance, but we would suggest this is only comfortable in daylight.
