The Old Salthouse is a ground floor studio apartment that underwent complete refurbishment into a contemporary living space.

Located within the iconic 'Barnaloft' complex located in the heart of the old fishermans quarters of St Ives known as 'Downalong'. The studio apartment is on ground level with a private parking space (which is a luxury in St Ives) right next to the front door. The Barnaloft / Piazza apartment and studio complex was initially converted in 1962 from a pilchard curing cellar and seine loft and provides private access to the beautiful Porthmeor beach where you can watch the sunset with a chilled glass of wine.

Ideal for a romantic getaway for a couple wanting the peace and tranquility found only in St Ives or alternatively friends who would like to share the St Ives experience of the Tate and Barbara Hepworth Museum and the wonderful culinary delights found in the area.

The open plan living area is fully tiled, with gas central heating and comprises a double bed, wardrobes, a large double leather sofa bed and 32" plasma wall mounted TV with 36 channels and a DVD player.

The kitchen is fully fitted with a breakfast bar, electric hob, oven, extractor, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. All cutlery, crockery and utensils are provided. The large leather sofa bed is ideal for 2 children to sleep on with all bed linen provided.

The bathroom comprises fully tiled shower room with heated towel rail, wash basin and lavatory.

There is also an outdoor cupboard with ironing board, extra seating an airing rack and deck chairs.

All bedding is included along with bath towels. Please note that beach towels are not included. Can be provided if required.

For those who enjoy the "sub-tropical" experience, Cornwall has much to offer. In the local area you can enjoy the splendors of Trebah Gardens, Glendurgan and Trellisick.

During the winter, Cornwall takes on a different beauty and clear sunny days can be followed by storm watching, with the wind and waves lashing the coastline.

St Ives

Downalong is a picturesque conservation area with a maze of granite and slate houses and cottages, narrow winding streets and alleyways, all leading to either the lovely beaches or the working harbour. Porthmeor beach is a haven for surfers with golden sand and crystal water or Porthgwidden is a smaller bathing beach where seals and dolphins are seen regularly.

The Tate Gallery is a 5 minute walk from the apartment and so to is the Barbara Hepworth Museum.

Cornwall is known as the English Riviera, lying in the Gulf Stream with warm waters and palm trees growing all year round.

"Fantastic, amazing situation, cozy and convenient to visit all areas of St Ives."

We had a wonderful stay at The old Salthouse from 6th-13th April 2013. Shelley and Tim were on hand for everything we needed and were the perfect hosts! Their apartment is quiet and beautifully furnished, situated in the most fantastic position, literally a stones throw from Porthmeor Beach! With the addition of our own private parking space literally outside the apartment we were so spoilt and cannot reccommend this apartment more highly!"

"Wonderful place to stay, highly recommended."

We stayed 1 - 3 March 2013. The apartment was very nicely decorated and furnished to a high standard. We took our Labrador cross (Bella) with us and had a wonderful time. Just across the court yard to the beach. So peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely be staying again in the future.
